after watching it, I was shocked and couldn’t say a single word, I was angry and discouraged, but the power of this film is undeniable, I don’t regret watching this film=)
I highly recommend three korean movies: JSA Joint Security Area directed by Park Chan Wook, it is a genuinely brilliant movie you should go into blind. We had to watch it in university for our Korean history class and when the credits rolled and it said "directed by" we all went "aaaaahhh thats why it was so good". The other one I recommend is I Saw The Devil, it's a super intense thriller and stars Choi Woo-sik (Oh Dae-su's actor) as a serial killer. It is non stop suspense and is just an unreal thriller. The last one is on Netflix and is called "Forgotten", all I have to say is go in totally blind and you're gonna be shocked. If you like Oldboy then these three movies are perfect for you.
Kinda late but u hella smart. Predict everthing and the first I ever saw in these reaction talking about the philosophy of the movie. Which is the revenge and truth. Lee woo Jin free him from a physical prison just to lock him in a more deprive one. Because he can only weep alone with the truth
The Wailing is another absolute trip that is a must. I saw Memories of a Murder in your polls somewhere too, hope you'll get around to that in coming future as well. So many underrated korean flicks to go around!!!
I do want to get around Memories of Murder and Bong Joon-ho's other films before Mickey 17 is released. I've only seen Parasite and a few seconds of both Okja & Snowpiercer.
@@mattragel Memories of murder is better than Parasite. I think Oldboy and Memories of Murder are top 2 in Korean film history. Many people suggest 'I saw the devil' or 'Train to Busan' but they are just two typical movies about revenge and zombie, nothing special. The Wailing is good enough but you gotta watch Memories of Murder. I like your review and discussion btw
I am surprised that this video does not have more views. It is one of my favorite reaction videos among many that I have seen for this movie. I hope more people visit your channel : ) For the next movie, I recommend 'Parasite,' which shone as a four-time Oscar winner in 2020. If asked to name the most internationally recognized directors from Korea currently, Bong Joon-ho and Park Chan-wook would be the ones. Just as 'Oldboy' is one of Park Chan-wook's masterpieces, 'Parasite' is one of Bong Joon-ho's. You will not regret watching that movie. It is also a film with remarkable unexpected twists.
The best movie by this director and my favourite movie in general would be "Lady Vengence". A film with a sort of simmilar setup, but totally different execution and overall nature to Oldboy.
Cinema 🤌
The cinematography is so good, you could literally watch it with the sound off and relish every scene.

01:00 17:40 I’m curious if you’re referring to Sifu; it had a similar scene, but I could be mistaken.

One of the three films in the Vengeance trilogy, you should also watch the other two, which are both masterpieces.

I have seen Parasite multiple times. Studied it as well for film class back in 2019. Great film!
