Don't underestimate the bass and it's grit, too. This is one of those spots where the bass and guitars are meshing perfectly and it sounds fucking monstrous.

I didn’t know he was in any bands besides Opeth until this morning
They did that on purpose. The reason they formed Bloodbath was to make a pure death metal band. As brutal as possible in terms of both audio sound and lyrical content.
I love the melodic undertones the band just randomly throws in. The melodic solos seem to flow well with the music since the tone doesn't come out floaty and happy sounding.
So let me understand, Mikael Äkerfeldt, lead singer and guitarist for Opeth, and Jonas Renske, lead singer for Katatonia, both playing Brutal Death Metal on the same stage? My life is finally complete
Check out Dan Swano's work too if you haven't, (Crimson by Edge of Sanity is a masterpiece). He's not in this video but he has played guitar and drums for Bloodbath before.
He got it right (Meiwes really did cut the other guy's dick off and cooked it. Legend says he couldn't eat it so he fed it to his dog). Not only that, but he also described it as a song about "food, Satan and national disasters"... As he explains it there is nothing wrong with his voice, he just changed to monitors in his ears rather than ear plugs causing him to strain his voice causing the change in his vocals. He has since changed back, and from what I've seen in more recent videos everything is back to it's normal brutal state. Too bad he recorded two dvds like that though, it doesn't properly represent his talent.

How did Mikael's voice change so drastically between Bloodbath's 2005 performance at Wacken and this? In only five years he went from perfect to unbearably terrible..
+AotearoaMetalhead Well with more focus on Opeth he probably hasn't growled in ages. No growling for about two weeks usually makes you lose the ability.
this was around the time when he stated that he had damaged his throat do to wearing those ear monitors, apparently after wearing them to much he couldn't actually hear his screaming and it made him scream in a way he never did, so basically he wasn't using his typical techniques to scream
Drop A tuning and mega distortion pedals, like what CKY uses.
Yeah their tone is sickening. It sounds amazing when they do it, but I'd feel like I was doing something wrong if my rig sounded like that.
Wow, that's a surprisingly specific and useful comment.

It's so weird to see Mikael without a guitar on stage.

You found that out just now?
Don’t forget Anders Nystrom, he played in the best black metal project called Diabolical Masquerade
Love the vocals, the lyrics are still so clear through Mikaels brutal growls.
He got the story wrong, 1 cannibal German guy was looking for a volunteer to be eaten trough the internet. Like the song Mein teil from Rammstein

Still just as brutal and evil as the day it came out, Bloodbath forever!
Is that Per Eriksson from Ghost on stage?
Yes
Per Eriksson the dude
Mikael's in full rock star mode here.
What a touching and moving story. I will cherish this deep in my heart
"If you don't bang your fucking head, you are just like Brett Michaels" LMFAO. Akerfeldt should seriously consider doing stand up comedy.
Massive Bass Tone 🤘🤘

I had no idea Dan Swano wrote the lyrics. Wow
Beautiful song ❤️
the best vocal part was the ending when he said eaaateeeeennn
I think I like this more than the studio one
Well, Peter Tagtgren did the vocals on the studio version, so....
Great overall sound! Unusual quality of late. Great Death Metal band. ALMOST like a slow Cannibal Corpse.Great!!!
