Too bad you don't have a bitchute Channel or put videos on other platforms besides twitch, RUclips or Facebook. I say this because I'm getting tired of them and I'm preparing to leave them. Especially now that the RUclips app has pretty much done away with the option to stop the auto-play. They've made it mandatory in their app on the phone. This really irks me.
Please, add your videos on other platforms that support free speech and choose not to censor opinions that don't align with whatever the current political narrative is.
Inevitables

The inevitables sound like it started as a parody of rules lawyers. They adhere only to RAW then go into observation mode when there's nothing to argue about.
Tbh I feel the best rules lawyers do what they do to both themself and other party members, both for the benefit and detriment of those involved, such that rules are consistently followed no matter the feelings.
If it was a real rule lawyer, they would think they know what is RAW but would actually be wrong lol.

Well maybe if the bard would stop shouting, "I SWEAR ON MY LIFE" at the oathbreaker paladin they could stop needing to talk to these things in every city they go to.
Really like that waiting for a lich idea. Sounds like a fun encounter for the party to meet a Marut who is just waiting for a lich to appear
There's two statues outside the Lich's tomb, scribed to be awaiting for his reappearance, and it's told like some kind of esoteric story, but then the Lich awakens and they actually wake up.
*meanwhile in some random seedy Tavern*

Didn't swear on his mum's life.

Yes.
According to my 1st DM who was already playing for years when 3e came out, the Inevitables were originally made to reign in out of control players who were gaming the rules.
Your coverage of their in game niche was great but I really feel like it pales in comparison to their meta purpose.
There are already enough ways to achieve true immortality that their meta purpose seems kind of pale anyway. What's the point of becoming a lich if you can just live forever the way Halaster and the lads do it?
@@Reddotzebra idk who Halastar is but as he described, it is more about spamming raise dead or wish like you are playing a video game and other disruptive or problematic behaviors at the table.
@@UltraDonny5000 halaster is an ancient imaskari wizard who is bound to undermoutain. (He went insane though, so not a great way to live forever)
@@Reddotzebra Halaster’s source of immortality is rather unique. Which is probably why there are so many evil wizards trying (and failing) to learn how he did it.
@@SuperCuriousFox They are all incompetent though. Obviously nobody would come up with it before my character does.
And naturally that is only the first step of his plan to usurp the powers of Overgod from that dried up old prune.
These guys must be busy as hell in the D&D realms.
That is kinda my problem with them, you’re right they should be busy, how many Lichs are there in the Forgotten Realm? How many of those Lichs have been killed by an Inevitable? You can’t have Inevitables deal with Villains or else you wouldn’t have high level adventures, but if the Player Characters do something that the Inevitables don’t like then the Inevitables will be on the PCs’ case, because that actually results in conflicts and story. They’re a tool that never gets used because they’d just solve all problems in the universe.
@@InquisitorThomas For myself, I find the best is a middle ground. As far as I can tell, with the exception of the ones who defend gods, the inevitables do not automatically know where their targets are. Nor can they instantly transport themselves to it. I find it very likely that in most cases, adventurers and such deal with most problems before inevitables can get involved. Another thing to note is that an overly literal reading of their roles might be the most accurate. For example, with the ones that track down Liches, it says they hunt those who unnatually extend their life. So would one be sent out immediately once a lich is made? Or would it only go once the creature has lived past what would be its natural lifespan? A human might normally live for 80 ish years but surely human druids and monks won't be hunted down for having timeless body? So, by how much must a creature exceed their lifespan in order to draw the attention of an inevitable? Respecting the time it takes for inevitables to do their job, as well as the difficulty in stoping threats of that strength leaves a lot of time for adventurers to do their job and still helps trend the planes towards balance. Maybe the lich hunters only step in after 1000 years, plenty enough time for them to destroy everything the PCs know and love, but still eventually bringing order. Not to mention that creatures of chaos might be partial to messing with them and eating their time.
@@InquisitorThomas The best solution is that their line of work is very difficult as "@De-eggs of De-Carton" said, coupled with extreme rarity. Still, it doesnt feel right to have such a powerful force that always wins, especially when it gets involved in little stuff.
@@De-eggs i suppose there are exceptions for certain creatures and classes, because druids and monks do it All naturally, certain elves can live a lot longer than other's, and litches are really good at hiding anyway hence the existence of vecna and acerak
@@InquisitorThomas I've always felt that there are few of these inevitables. Perhaps 4-6 of the most to 1 or 2 of the least.. They cover every relm of existance. That's a lot of freaking space for them to cover.
The ‘Inevitable’ are fun to spring on a mid-level adventuring party. I recently dragged a player in my Eberron campaign to Daanvi to give testimony in the Hall of Justice, overseen by a triumvirate consisting of a celestial, a fiend, and a kolyarut.
for some reson i just imagened playing a warforged warlok with an Inevitable as its patrion XD

Wouldn't it be a clockwork sorcerer i feel like that better
Yea Clockwork Sorcerer of any canon race would make more sense than Warforged anything
Warforged clockwork sorcerer
@@TheArachnidCompany clockwork sorc would work well for a sorc with the spirit of an Inevitable, but there isn't a great official warlock patron that would fit an Inevitable, which kinda makes sense: they don't give power because they don't need deputies.

What if some wizard just made a ton of clones and always, when dying of old age reassembles in a new body? Is that a case for a marut?
He's still fleeing his natural end. So yes he's attempting to avoid his death. The only way to lawfully escape is to become truly immortal or become a god.
That would depend if it was the same soul inhabiting a new body every time, or if it was just memories that were being copied and each clone had its own soul that passes on when they die. The first situation would be a clear case of violating the natural process of life and death. The second is just creating new life before you die and therefore doesn't unbalance the universe. Although, if its the second method, expect at least one of those clones to have an identity crisis eventually.
@@H240909
tldr; both can happen but Option A is much more likely
it would almost certainly be the first case as elves literally exist as a combination of memories and their soul. In D&D, memory often equals soul. Although option 2 could totally be possible, although it would be as you stated and there is much less desire for doing so.

@@angrygardengnome8383 man, you must be fun at parties.
And thus, the natural order of the internet continues...
Technically an inevitable could be made for party etiquette: make sure there's plenty of food and drinks, book entertainment, hold the hair back for people that need to vomit, drive people to any necessary locations (home, hospital, other parties if people want to go party hopping); the more I think about it the more they sound like a total bro.
@@marmyeater so while not fun, they are great company nonetheless.
My favorite part of the dnd cosmology is their emphasis on how law is not necessarily good, and chaos is not necessarily evil. I can't wait for more on that in ur outer planes videos
At first, I thought "The Inevitables" was the name of the High-Fantasy Equivalent of the Avengers or the Justice League.
In Eberron, you run into an Inevitable beating on a door of a stronghold because the Artificer inside manage to figure out how to turn himself mechanical. This after saving a pliant vampire Drow from yet another one in an earlier questline.

Not like it's much of an issue, no litch would be sitting around for 500 years "sleeping" they literally became undead so they don't have to bother with that kind of nonsense.
Besides that a liches phylactery would be hidden away and a lich reforms near it phylactery not next to where ever it died.
Not only that a marut wouldn't have a hope in stopping a demi-lich. CR 21+ at minimum with a phylactery and 8+ soul stones And hordes of powerful undead at it command. The marut is doomed.

The Incredibles meet The Expendables in the most ambitious crossover of the decade . . . The Inevitables!
You always post exactly what I need when I need it. One of my chaotic players is bent on becoming a new god of chaos and now I know how to deal with it.
There is a six type of Inevitable, it is mentioned in the 3.5E sourcebook Sandstorm. It's purpose is to protect the purity of natural deserts and wastelands and to punish those who would try and change the wasteland by farming, irrigation, etc. They are called Anhydruts (a.k.a. Waste Crawlers).

It's all fun and games until Kolyaruts came knocking on your door and asking you "Did you do your X?"

Ill turn you to a lich, just to spawn camp you
I'm so glad I found your channel and this video. I read about inevitables in my sister's 3.5 splat books once years ago and they stuck well in my head, and I've used them in games, but have never been able to find reference material about them
I love "Languages: ALL" XD
Most high ranking celestials have the ability to speak all languages, so these inevitables are some kind of cyborg angels.
No, just constructs.
A marut speaking common, then suddenly switching to japaniese "mezametamae waga aruji tachi yo..." more Inevitables spawn and pose.
Attacks :automatic hit is the much less amusing quirk
The way Maruts develop "quirks" based off what they experienced reminds me of when you program an AI. You feed an AI bad data and you get bad results

@@hugofontes5708 those are technically the same based off one of the versions of immortality.
Or just use Clone, or be a druid (nothing a druid does is unnatural). The old Marut lore makes no sense. Acererak is CR20 in 5e, but no Marut has taken him out. Also Cyric has broken reality twice, and only got a time-out for it (and only after the second time).

Great video as usual, Rhexx, I learned something more that I will certainly use.
The fact that servants of order want to preserve entropy tells you which kind of order they serve. They should wind up being responsible for the end of the worlds or something as absolute order is akin to absolute chaos, in a sense the furthest you can get from that is perhaps some fractal that has yet to be identified.
It sounds like a good idea for a lvl20 campaign to play an order domain cleric warforged as an inevitable

@@sabastianbishop4264 That really just isn't true at all. He'd have multiple inevitables on his ass (Which he would probably just best because Thanos is broken.)
Currently making a homebrew world and these guys have been slated to be of major importance in two of the outer planes. This is a good video to get on my feed.
The Inevitables: "Dead or alive, you're coming with me!!"
Awesome video! Inevitables have always been one of my favorites. I just have 3 things for you MrRehexx,
1: You missed the Anhydrut (d&d 3.5 Sandstorm p.191).
2: If you want an adventure that features a Inevitable look at the Adventure Pandorym (d&d 3.5 Elder Evils p.80). Great story.
3: Have you found any written evidence of the Inevitables becoming stronger with each generation? Like if you kill one with fire the one built to replace it will be fire proof. This was quoted to me when I started playing d&d so very long ago and I have never found written proof of the concept.
Inevitables (besides Kobolds) are my favorite monsters. I had a Kolyarut in my 3.5 game that became mutually attached to my party. They were tasked with escorting him back to his forge in Nirvana. I had an Aperture Science themed dungeon planned, with elaborate puzzles. Sadly, the pandemic canceled my game 😔
I used an inevitable a while ago, running 3.5. I never thought I'll hear about those in a youtube video. Respect.
*DR Strange: "I come to bargain."*
*Quarut: "I do not bargain."*
Gonna make these cats a big part of my homebrew we just started playing. Thanks!
I actually think this is a great challenge for a character trying to attain godhood. I'd love to see my party trying to argue with these things and find loopholes!

CITIES! I know you already have tons of ideas and creatures you’ll make lore videos about, but one topic I’ve yet to really see are cities. What’s some of the lore behind some of the bigger more major cities in the realm? Keep it up, you’re doing wonderful!
This gave me an awesome idea for a Warforged Paladin!!!! Great vid.
Hey Mr.Rhexx, wanna thank you, first and foremost. Been enjoying your content for years and appreciate you were my first D&D channel I watched and subscribed to. That said, I’m surprised and would like to respectfully request you do a video on Al-Qadim/Zhakhara; particularly The City of Brass. Felt like you could really elaborate and expand on the flavour of this content and share your thoughts and experiences. Let me know what you think, thanks!
Hey MrRhexx! Just wanna say that I have fun watching your dnd videos with the dragons being among my favorite. In fact, I even came up with a campaign story I'd love to try if you'd like to hear it.
You forgot the anhydruts the inevitables of natural order. A friend wrote a city of mages in the middle of the desert constantly being attacked by robot scorpions after they used a decanter of endless water as well as other spells to tera-form the area to be livable, probably the only reason I even know about them.
They dislike decanters of endless water in general, you wouldn't believe how angry they get when you magically create a dam at the entrance to a dungeon or ten and then lead with a wall of water, if you're a druid you can also do some downright obscene things with lower level spells and that thing. It's probably the magic item that most DMs have removed from the random drop table in games I've been in.
I even created an amphibious mage entirely built around the decanter and various wall spells, and after the fifth mass drowning incident he was mysteriously transformed to scorpion chow.
Pathfinder expanded the ranks of the inevitables greatly; furthermore, there's one D&D inevitable! They're from the Sandstorm supplement for 3.5 and deal with climates and atmospheres. They're also one of the few non-Epic creatures with an Epic (ie, level 10 or higher) spell as an innate spell-like ability
You should make a video about the Elder Evils, theres a Kolyarut that helps one of them.
given that the Great Modron March was mentioned in the Monster Manual and was referenced in Out of the Abyss, I'd say that it's possible that a Modron campaign revolving around the Great Modron March could exist for 5e.
Hiya! Love your content - Art of Mike Disney introduced me to you, tons of fascinating information - thank you!

One thing I enjoy is the new direction they're taking rangers, by then also being cosmic policemen with the horizon walker and several of the newer subclasses. I like to imagine them as the patrol officers to the Inevitable's SWAT.

Finally I’ve been waiting for you to cover this since the Modrons of mechanis
These guys seem to only exist as tools for DMs to "rocks fall, everyone dies" their players when they make the campaign go off the rails. Otherwise, there should be _way_ less adventure-starting conflicts in settings with them if they're really doing/good at their jobs.
Yeah that's pretty true. If the world already has a built-in system for managing apocalyptic threats, adventurers really wouldn't be that necessary
*wakes up as a lich*
*looks up in horror as they are met by the hammer blow of a sigmarine*
i feel like either inevitables are bad at their job or only deal with insanely extreme cases like half the world being raised from the dead because there are things in the lore that probably should have caught the attention of an inevitable
