Believe it or not, this was actually a problem in the early days of electricity, though for a different reason... According to Empires of Light, there were complaints about the smoke from one of the first generator installations. So they ran an underground pipe to carry it away from the generator where people were... which warmed the ground around it, and made it very popular with cats...

I have 2 power banks. I think in the end it would be cheaper to just buy a rechargeable power bank. Also the printer. I saw that years ago. Don't think it did to well as I haven't seen anything about it since.

@@donmiller2908 Not being a smart a$$. Just that the walk light is connected to the traffic light so when the time is up(the extra time)the traffic light changes. See the timer is adjustable. they adjusted it those few seconds more so no one gets run over. Damn Pay attention boys and girls The light is longer giving the elderly folks more time. Jule Rulez it’s funny, we have a grocery store where I live that uses a robot that cruses around the store, I assume it takes their inventory. But, every so often it escapes from the store and I will see it rolling down the main road the store is located on. It’s big too.

In Norway, there is a button underneath just about all boxes at crosswalks that you can press to extend the cross time by about 5 seconds.
in germany the button is for blind people

Yea. Portable charging stations dont come charged already genius. It's an EMERGENCY one time use fully charged station for someone who doesn't have the luxury of planning ahead of time.
Some of these are just amazing. Others, like the driverless race cars, are not. Taking the human element out of racing takes all the fun out of it. UGG!
While I agree that races without human drivers would be pretty boring, the purpose is to develop AI that can handle driving in real life situations where people are too busy or distracted to drive safely. A lot of accidents are caused by distracted driving from a variety of causes, everything from turning around to yell at your kids, or try to quickly grab the toddler's toy he dropped and is making a MASSIVE fuss about getting back RIGHT NOW, or people trying to send a text message... all it takes is a split second of inattention and you're going through a light or failing to stop when someone infront of you is slamming on their breaks to try and avoid hitting a child on the street, etc... human drivers are very flawed (mostly because of the way our attention systems are designed, according to cognitive science) and a computerized driver won't be putting on makeup or trying to finish writing an essay while rushing to work... I'd rather a computer drive, honestly.
I disagree there. I bet the people doing the programming are having lots of fun and there’s a whole lot to be learned in the technology. Racing gets kind of boring anyway after a while to watch so I think it would increase the fun factor watching full-size cars with no one controlling them, at least for a little while.
@@mcearl8073 There will be a small niche community that will be into it, but when you think about auto racing the first thing people talk about is the driver not the person that tuned the engine.

The "robot tire plus sensor" would be good for older cars because newer cars already have built in sensors that tell you the pressure in each tire on the instrument panel.

5:22 This is actually standard in cars produced from 2014 and later (at least in The Netherlands). It's called TPMS (Tyre Pressure Monitoring System).
acktually... :) the TPMS is not installed in the car unless you pay some money for this feature, to display individually for each tire the inside pressure (in Bar or Psi units). Instead of this, the manufacturer will deliver as a promotion but mostly for a fee the feature called simply "pressure monitor" which in fact will not display any value of pressure for any of the tires, but will alert the driver through in car system management (lights on dash board or on main central display) that one of the tires is not having the same pressure (or a recommended pressure) as the other tires. Sometimes the individual tire with problems will be specified but other times is just saying "check pressure" and you will have to manually verify each of the tires. This cheaper version of the tire pressure monitor is achieved with the help of ABS sensors which are present on each wheel ball bearing, and those sensors are actually monitoring the rotation speed of the wheel. If the pressure is different in one of the tires, then the rotation speed of the entire wheel will be different (higher or lower). Usually on ebay, aliexpress or similar, the TPMS (consisting of 4 sensors for each tire and a local receiver that will be placed somewhere on the dash board or windshield, or near rearview mirror) is around 15-25 EUR, but if you buy it from a local distributor in your country it will be around 60-80 EUR (that distributor will buy the unit from the same chinese guy through ebay/aliexpress, so...)

I really like the Life Straw idea.
Actually, they are good and working. There are other systems better for longer term use, but it's a good stopgap when you might be stuck somewhere.

There's one city, I don't remember where, that installed benches you have to INSERT A QUARTER (or coin in their currency) INTO in order to get spikes in the seat to lower down for a short amount of time... they pop back up again and require another quarter.

#19: A One-time-phone-charger is what you consider futuristic? Even though they may be recycable, I'd rather say that's the exact opposit. Ever heard of powerbanks? They are rechargable and so way less waste. You realize that we should get rid of all this "one-time-then-straight-to-junk"-things if we want our planet to be safe to life on for future generations?

Cars still have bumpers, they are just internal and certainly not for design reasons. The bumper covers can withstand anything those bolt on things could, Gould be better off with just some paint protection film to protect the paint.

You KNOW we are heading toward combining these cars with Battle Bots for exactly that! Personally, I'd like to see a race that is half grand prix style racing but ends on an Indy style oval where the weapons come out. Saw blades, flame throwers, you name it.

I'm a professional survivalist/prepper, and I can tell you from experience, the 'Life Straw' is a must have in any emergency (bug-out) bag. I test everything I buy extensively before deciding if it's worth keeping in my kit. I've tested the straw in stagnant puddles, road ditches, and ponds, and it's worked great. After the water goes threw the like 7 different filters it tastes just like bottled. 10 outta 10 for sure.

Oh wow yeah because more inventions that replace humans is exactly what we need.
Well hopefully robots will just do most if not all the labor for us that it will make the concept of money obsolete. No one has to work ever again and they still get everything they need to live, however we might struggle getting to that point, and I don't see that ever happening within this millennium, but who knows, technology has only been growing faster, and the more it improves the faster it makes itself. We might adopt a different form of currency and it might be earned in different ways, much more easier ways. Only time will tell.

It does not take much to throw the tires out of balance. The " caps " look heavy.
This happened to my brother in law! He apparently didn't grow up with do-it-yourself repairs, unlike my sister who was taught to do everything from change oil to change tires. So while they had a blowout in the highway, He was shocked to find out his wife could change the tire, and she did so quickly efficiently.

Japan has had a solution to the cold bathwater issue for decades! With the press of a button, part of the bathwater is sucked out of the bath, reheated to a high temperature, then pumped back in, restoring your bathwater to its former glory! As a bonus, the same mechanism can also be used to fill your bath, all you need to do is put the plug in and press a button. You can even set how high you want the water and what temperature it should be!

I don’t think flying cars will ever happen, I don’t even trust other while driving grounded imagine how many accidents there would be if everyone had a flying car.
Yeah! Since watching Back To The Future II in the cinema, I couldn't wait until there were flying cars. But now that I've grown up and understand the world and how it works, I'm glad we don't have flying cars for the same reason as you mentioned. Any accident in the air is guaranteed fatalities, also I don't like the idea of a crashed flying car coming through my roof. Flying cars are a nice fantasy in a perfect world not for real life.
Ever heard of ultrasonic sensor
The level of ultrasonic energy required to lift a vehicle with people inside would be so intense that it would destroy your hearing in seconds and anyone under the vehicle in flight. Probably destroy some buildings it passes over too. As for auto-pilot and sat-nav, in theory they would work but in reality the error margin could be catastrophic. Especially if it were to glitch and/or malfunction during a high speed flight. Both ideas above are still good ones though.
Automated flying cars will be much safer then huaman piloted ones. Humans are distractable, and you don't want to have kids screaming in your ear demanding you turn around and hand them back their fluffy huggle while you're trying to balance a vehicle in 3 axis 400 feet in the air... Let the computer drive. (hopefully once they make the system safe enough)

The future should be CHEAP
You would think so, but I remember when General Motors, Chevrolet, and Ford laid off all of their assembly employees, and replaced them with robots; the price of cars are still going up. Corporations are too greedy to give consumers a break on price, when the CEO could be giving himself a $30 million bonus.
@@jenniekelly571 Too few have far *FAR* too much. The entire world is collapsing under the weight of the abject poor and working class poor. But no one will rise up and bring the hogs holding all the world's money down.
The entire point of race car driving is the thrill and skill of the driver. Autonomous race cars....so theyre just a big remote control car. Soon humans will be irrelevant and unnecessary.
Remote control means a human is still operating it. The point is to develop AI capable of driving in real life situations.
There is still thrill and skill unless one finds the thrill in the ever-present risk of death. Auto racing has always been a competition of applied technologies. This really could be fascinating to watch since AI will attempt things no human driver would ever try!
Also, FedEx et al will be paying close attention since they have a huge fleet of trucks will be driving autonomously sooner or later. I gues that could be considered a pro or a con.

I agree, there is no point in racing if the cars a fully autonomous. You might as well just eliminate the cars and do a virtual simulation, and since its AI the race wouldnt even have to be in real time, the race and all subsequent races could be simulated in seconds and then it could spit out the bracket results and say AI driver 2 won the series. Man that sounds fun and entertaining doesnt it?
@@1erinjames i agree to each their own. I should restate my comment to point out that there are definitely two different things going on here. Human skill is amazing and the best of the best drivers are awesome. The autonomous racing is just highlighting the best of another set of humans, the engineers. Overall, I'd say both approaches will benefit from the other.

The air umbrella doesn't exist for consumer purchase. The company went belly up before production. It weighed almost 2 lbs (x4 the average umbrella) and costed between $88-$108. It also lasted only 15 minutes.

In many big cities the button doesn't do a damn thing. It's called a placebo button. The time the crosswalk is on or not on for is already set and operates automatically the button is just there to make you feel like you did something. You didn't.
@@nickbrockelman In my case I'm living in Orange City, Florida. If I go to downtown Deland, there's little or no time to wait for the cross sign to change; but when it comes to the corner of French Avenue and Volusia Avenue in Orange City, it takes a long time to change.
@@jasonirelan4487 yeah they're not all placebo buttons like in elevators. In every elevator built after 1990 the close door buttons does absolutely nothing by law. In the case of crosswalks some of them are timed and some of them do work usually is dependent on how many people cross the intersection at any given time. If you wanted to find out for yourself the thing to do would be to time the light through a cycle having not push the button and through a cycle of having pushed the button and see if there's any difference but in reality most people aren't going to deal with that they just push it and move on. In Japan they just started installing a system where if you are a pensioner or handicapped you get a special card that gives you an extra 3 to 13 seconds to cross an intersection by waving the card in front of an RF chip reader
