I accidentally admired Leonardo as a Young Man and this way of thinking has shaped everything about my existence. Curiosity is the best form of power far above the dirty form of energy known as willpower. And there's no age at which these principles cannot turn one's life around!
Haven’t finished this episode yet, but I really wanted to say thank you. Chris, your podcast has changed my outlook on life and introduced me to so many amazing thinkers. You provide me with endless hours of educational and enlightening entertainment that always leaves me feeling strongly for the topic at hand and thinking deeply about what’s been discussed. Finding you by sheer accident on RUclips has changed me forever.
I often get depressed when I think about people like da Vinci. A true genius who had a momentous impact on the world, someone who shows us the potential for human beings to be truly exceptional. Then I think about myself and how much I suck and question what value there is in my existence. God help me.
the difference is that you are asking yourself if you can have a "momentous impact" on the world whereas da vinci was asking "can i do this?" in a base curiosity sense. the reason why people like da vinci have contributed so much is because they cared more for what interested them than what kind of legacy they would leave. legacy is a byproduct, not the goal.
Hey you, you’re better than someone and someone’s always gonna be better than you. Comparison is the thief of joy. Don’t focus on what you can’t do, focus on what you CAN do. Appreciate the fact that you can interpret language from a human perspective and can then transfer your own interpretation. That’s pretty ducking brilliant to me mate.
you don't have to be a genius to make an impact in the world. I'm sure you have your own unique gifts that no one else possesses. Everyone is different for a reason.
41:15 I'm not sure why, but the idea that the "most exquisite thing is breathing" almost made me cry. I had to stop working, breathe consciously and I eventually composed myself.
Chris, this has got to be the best interview/podcast You have ever lead. I damn near say you were perfect. Its weird I focus on you and not the fascinating guest and topic, but you really asked perfect questions, and steered him incredibly well ontop of herding him from topic to topic. The only thing I can compare in my mind would be like watching a master artist like Bob Ross so efficiently bringing the best out of a blank canvas with the right tools and paints. You guided and distilled this mans passion and years and years of expert knowledge and research so incredibly well. Definitely going to watch once for content and tools to think like Da Vinci and a second one for how to Extract/converse/interview like Chris.
This was exactly what I needed today. I have been in a terrible mood trying to get a big project done and this podcast has helped me shift my perspective. Thanks guys!
Amazing! Michael Gelb's website was one of the first websites I encountered online 25 years ago that was interesting, it was super fringe at the time. Wild to see him on Chris' podcast!!
Honestly! unapologetly one of the best episode, something worth sharing with close friends! Thank you so much. Leonardo Da Vinci himself has been my childhood's unsolvable "rubic cube" something so very mysterious and fun at the same time, which I learned to enjoy playing more than focusing on solving it.
I have a hunch that the self doubt Leonardo Davinci had was imposter syndrome that is common in neurodivergent folks, especially those with ADHD. Trouble finishing tasks is also a symptom as interest wanes and there’s a move onto other interests. And everyone expresses these neurological conditions differently. Michelangelo had the black dog follow him around. Most great creatives have certain qualities society seems “undesirable”. I call it the great balance in life. Same reason why a little bit of salt is added into desserts for contrast to bring out the sweetness more.
The name is "Leonardo" or "Leonardo da Vinci" but never "da Vinci". It's not a family name but just the village he as born in. It's not a mistake Italians make and I blame that damned Dan Brown book. In any case the covention for artist's names at the time was to identify them by their first names; Michelangelo was not known as Buonarroti and Raphael isn't called "Sanzio". Ok, end of rant ...
I think many have the capability to be like DaVinci depending on their situations whats in front of them & how we face things. With "help & great teachers" the capability we all have is in are DNA, but shaping it to be the best is what many are trying to figure out & definitely easier with help/support. This day in age i think still work on your NEEDS 1st & then grind as hard as possible on your WANTS. I've been thinking like DaVinci since a very young age Always wanting to know GOD, LIFE & DEATH. Unfortunately my "art" skills are that of just a stick figure 😅 Being really good at many things is sort of a curse for me as i wish i had focused on just 1 thing i loved & became GREAT not just GOOD. We all are artists just have to find are niche.

this is one of those golden nuggets of an entire show
“He had to do what he had to do in order to continue to do what he really wanted to do…” that got me

It wasn't an accident it was divine inspiration

Just try to improve lol
There can only be a few geniuses by laws of average, and they all need admirers. So let's sit back and admire the ...k out of them.

This was exactly what I needed today. I have been in a terrible mood trying to get a big project done and this podcast has helped me shift my perspective. Thanks guys!
The Da Vinci expert is Robert Edward Grant. Please have him on!
Amazing! Michael Gelb's website was one of the first websites I encountered online 25 years ago that was interesting, it was super fringe at the time. Wild to see him on Chris' podcast!!
Seems like a cool dude to sit at a bar or pool & just talk with!
Thanks for saying his name I kept thinking back and forth it was Dr Peterson ?
When I looked at the name of this video I thought ma boy resurrected Leonardo da Vinci for a sec and the old guy on the right was Leonardo 💀💀💀
😊👍😎
Good weed
Tension to managed not a problem to be solved, alright ya glad I listen to this.
Leonardo da Vinci was arguably the first scientist.
The entire Golden Age of Islam scholars: am I joke to you?
Thanks
Funny that you're talking about Leonardo now. I just started playing Assassins Creed 2 again
Chris one might say you are getting pretty darn good at interviewing and asking some terrific questions.
I'm liking the diversity of topics and guests on the Modern Wisdom podcast. Keep ferreting out great minds.

This is probably your best video. Thank you
Great art explained call out! Yaaaa!!!!
He had a continual battle with ADHD and didn't finish the majority of his commissions, that was a downside to his brilliance.
It seems I have some da Vinci in me after all
Or it was his gift
really great show, Michael we would love to see you on over at the Mere Mortals podcast!
Honestly! unapologetly one of the best episode, something worth sharing with close friends! Thank you so much.
Leonardo Da Vinci himself has been my childhood's unsolvable "rubic cube" something so very mysterious and fun at the same time, which I learned to enjoy playing more than focusing on solving it.
this pod was so good
Me, watching and enjoying the podcast... "Why is the Mona Lisa so amazing? Well the reason is..." (McRib ad)
Good luck to all chasing their North Star.
Incredible content lately. Keep up the great work Chris. P.S. I took the Gypsy curse off your small calves. ❤
Loving this
Does anyone know where to find the Leonardo DaVinci documentary they mentioned at the end?
Both you and History Hyenas releasing videos on Leo the same day, wild

You love Italy. We love you Chris. Come to Milano to train :) and eat. And see the “last supper” by LDV.
Very good
He was a time traveler
Chris strikes again with the Thumbnail😂😂
Since i read the 3mm i was waiting for this. Ive recently learned a lot about Da Vinci. Its so cool.
Thank you.
Leonardo would have been invisible in our assimilation education system. To be different you have to proceed differently.
My potential is not unlimited. I'm no genius, but I what 'unlimited' and 'infinite' actually mean. I like my limitations.
🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻
perfect guest
da vinci
vs
dicaprio
Fan fact, Leonardo and I share the same date of birth. 😂
I'm getting deja vu. I thought I had seen this before, but I guess not. I think I've been watching too much Chris.
Imagine Da Vinci and Machiavelli walking around town talking fantasy football and sh*t.
Is a Whoop worth it?
I have gorged myself on dark chocolate more times than I would like to admit.
Q: What's Da Vinci like as a person?
A: He was funny...
Wow! Ain't he lucky to have met LDV 500+ years ago?
I thought leo was back with for a Podcast with chris
Bring in Luke Belmar
Echos of Ian Mcgilchrists masterpiece, "The Master and His Emissary" Leo let his right brain be the master and the rest is history.
Actually there are 6 senses & not 5! The 6th being the sense of balance. Da VinCi missed this one!?
Just listened to his biography...insane mind
How much money do you think he pays to his guests to come to his podcast?
At first I thought it was Jordan Petersons Brother.
How to run like Usain Bolt?
Bud is doing tricks on it sheesh
0:10 i don't wanna die a virgin

God Might have something to say in who has the greatest mind.... Hubris.

No need for the interviewer to keep swearing
How to think like Leonardo DaVinci
Step 1: Be Leonardo DaVinci
Well fuck...
BB
Would one not have to be homosexual?
Can appreciate the knowledge on Da Vinci but the wine and chocolate analogies are lost and corny.
Or my next breath ….part of a dinosaur fart !
❤
Jordan Peterson's cousin welcome
No, most people can't do impressive stuff. That's just feel-good bullshit.
I wish Luigi could have learned a thing or two from this video before he got arrested 😢
I had similar thoughts. Luigi -- "Broken Hearted Idealist"
DaVinci was also gay!
Who says and/or cares?
Notice it was never mentioned
First
Very good
