I am absolutely crazy about my little V40. It's the best car I ever had. Bought it with 138,000 mi and put on 9,000 in one year and still going strong! Runs great! Only paid 1,400 for it and is so worth it. If anyone has the opportunity to buy one...buy it!! I'm in America and swear by Swedish cars...Saab's too.

can it hold a lot of cargo? I have a 2006 xc70 i use as a daily driver and package delivery vehicle. It has well over 200,500 but its limited edition ocean race edition where only 500 of them were made in the whole entire world. I hate putting the car through all that and it getting dinged up by gravel and hail. So ive been looking at getting a V40 for fuel economy and reliability as my delivery car if it can hold a lot of cargo.

i bought my v40 7 years ago (construction year: 1999) now with 385.000 KM. only 2 major problems I ran into: I had to change the complete exhaust system due to corrosion and the driver door lock isn't working. the last problem happend to A LOT of V40 from this era.
but no problems with the engine/ transmission etc. just a bit of "normal" corrosion on the trunk release and front fender.
fuel consumption in my case: 12 liter / 100 km
