o man Si is such an awesome guy! This is the first time i've seen him in an interview in the 11 years i've been a fan!! very comforting to know just how humble is truly is. Long live this musical genius
"You can mix in any room, as long as you've just used to the sound" ..So true..no matter what PA you get for the mixing, it doesn't matter, if you don't know how ur gear sounds like..
Want to hear something crazy? Raja's picture of Shpongland looks exactly like a dream I had while listening to Are You Shpongled. There's something unique about Shpongle that makes them the most creatively mysterious band that ever existed.
@astralmir You're forgetting a very crucial point: We don't need as many channels anymore. It's easy to do what you did with 32 channels back in the day with 5 channels today.
Of course Simon Posford is a analog freak.. respect :) But it was expected his whole generation of musicans are truly innovative and very GOOD.. i think it becuase many of them were raised in a time of very original technology whcih also in the end inspiered everyone to to what they do.. now isee noone knows anything anymore about analoge stuff and it makes me said., well well.. i have the OSCar and it all true that you say about it hehe :) cheers
@astralmir Electro and Simons music cannot be compared.... These are 2 completely different genres which are amazing in their own right. There are artists brilliant in electro and there are artists that are brilliant in goa trance.... You can never say one genre is better than the other just because it has more channels at use... When you learn to appreciate different artists and genres and take something form it, that's when you understand music.
Hi! I have a Mackie 32 8 BUS with a Presonus Firepod! I see that you can mix with the mackie faders via your computer and I wonder how to do that by recording with my firepod. I just got the mixer and I really don't know how to record with it well, I have my firepod connected on cubase and I want to introduce the mackie 32 8 bus into this, please help me! Thanks a lot!
@Uvisir give it time, the birth of high quality computerised music equipment might seem like its destroying something but i guarantee that its just the beginning of something beautiful. i mean modern psy would be next to impossible to create just on old equipment shpongle would probably be impossible too. Its all good :) Peace Brian
im pretty sure, all of you know fatboy slim, you remeber "Youve Come A Long Way, Baby"-inlay, i thought of studio like norman cooks :D its pretty messy there, but simons is clean ^^
what i mean is its like you build something with em 3000screws and 200 little parts and then you build something with 100screws and 20 little parts its no challenge then for yourself i think
on of the ten spirits of goa? nah i talk nonsense :P simon you are really gifted please do not join any stupid club *hust23hust* or something like that. love and peace and freedom for you i wish. namaste ॐ
On Psytrance you have allways more then 5 Channels:-) because its very complex really twisted inside, tons off synthesizers or samples etc in fact its harder too create then electro, house or hardcore for example so, sure it give artists who are good in their music that sounds good too but its easier ...much easier then to create good psytrance and if you make psytrance and you are in the materia you will think hardcore for example is bullshit because you do such a track in 15minutes
simon is a geek haha i mean he is a musical genius but defiantly a geek....with a beautiful girlfriend adoring and loving fans a discography of some of the best music ever created and ...well yeah wouldnt have it any other way he is awesome
5 channels are really few...you know psy trance uses tons and tons of fx-sounds & acid that's the reason why it needs so much channels. House is just a different kinda music... And by the way, house is also a pretty old style of music, at least as old as psytrance.. Anyway I also like psy a lot more than house. But you need to stay fair!
Full of yourself much? There are musical geniuses in every period. Try B-Complex, Netsky, Feed me, Opiuo, KOAN sound, Nicolas Jaar. You will be surprised how imaginative their music is. Of course sphongle is an untouchable legend, but it is not the only one there is.
Simon posford is Def a genius innovator and an inspiration beyond comprehension
Shpongle is by far the most amazing music i have ever listened to!!😍😍☺️👌😁😊
How much heart is needed to create such wonderful music that has just been created thanks to Simon!? Thank You Man for sharing it with all of us!!!

o man Si is such an awesome guy! This is the first time i've seen him in an interview in the 11 years i've been a fan!! very comforting to know just how humble is truly is.
Long live this musical genius
i see Simon is a Pink floyd fan too...love him more now...:-)
I think is very hard at these days .....find a such great artist with so high semplicity :)
"You can mix in any room, as long as you've just used to the sound" ..So true..no matter what PA you get for the mixing, it doesn't matter, if you don't know how ur gear sounds like..
Gimmeeee a real third Album Simon! Gimmeeeeeee!
Seems like a really sound bloke! Nice one, thanks for the upload. Really should dig out my old music making gear.
Want to hear something crazy? Raja's picture of Shpongland looks exactly like a dream I had while listening to Are You Shpongled. There's something unique about Shpongle that makes them the most creatively mysterious band that ever existed.

cheers, simon! can i have your ms-20 seen as you're not really using it anymore?
that circuit bent keyboard must be what they used in electroplasm!
@alex4527 yes but recorded on a computer and possibly dat but now its in logic.
It was using flutes and violins etc so yes :) very old equipment
@lunarbeats He didn't, he was just panning that channel from left to right, the effect of which you can hear from the stereo output of the mixer.

What year is this from 1999? Cheers
יצירתיות זה שם המשחק...סיימון הגאון...
What program is he using??
does anyone know what monitors he is using?
@W4RW017
Im sure he uses a plethora of software, but that did not look like cubase to me, or FL or ableton
anyone know what model the Yamaha Circuit Bent keyboard is? it looks like a PSS 4-580 something...
anyone knows what kind of mixing desk he is using?
@Uvisir give it time, the birth of high quality computerised music equipment might seem like its destroying something but i guarantee that its just the beginning of something beautiful.

Not everyone appreciates this sort of music. Mainstream musician's are after fame and money.
@astralmir you must be joking man! 32 channels is not so much. Check out 7skies youtube channel: more then 100 channels per one progect:)
5 channels are really few...you know psy trance uses tons and tons of fx-sounds & acid that's the reason why it needs so much channels. House is just a different kinda music... And by the way, house is also a pretty old style of music, at least as old as psytrance..

Two eventides and two distressors.. nice - because one each is not enough!
"build a tune out of silence"
- he doesn't know the significance of what he said when he said that :D
whoever pressed disslike did it accidently im sure
hahahaha shame on you buy a stereo tv
Who's mandragora here? Kkk
On what? My average song uses around 50 tracks (some have much much more), I could group those down to 32 or less but I wouldnt want to
Full of yourself much? There are musical geniuses in every period. Try B-Complex, Netsky, Feed me, Opiuo, KOAN sound, Nicolas Jaar. You will be surprised how imaginative their music is. Of course sphongle is an untouchable legend, but it is not the only one there is.
logic
@alex4527 but yes you can say one is better. Uncreative and general shit is produced like fastfood today, that wasn't the case back then.
Well Typer, I guess you aint being called a musical genius, do you?
I wonder what his favorite drugs are
acid of course
Simon puts those cheap dj imitators van buuren and dyk and the like to shame
Oh then I guess I must have imagined the disco and pop boom that paved the way for today's generic mainstream music.
i call bullshit
