I doubt the producers of this US knew that when they implemented it into this version, but it's interesting nonetheless given how many times people hilariously tried to get the answer from Regis during his version... Sure as heck beats "Jump the Question" as a lifeline though.
Jimmy actually was on this show as a contestant and did well it was introduced because when the Jimmy Kimmel version came out it was middle of Covid so no audience and it’s for charity so it’s something they kept
In Germany there is no such thing as "ask the host". Here you can ask the audience again but only people who really feel they know the answer stand up and then you can choose one of them.
@kakathi4776 I believe Germany had rules once before where you could play the standard way with 3 lifelines or "risk" where you would get an extra lifeline but you don't get the safety net after the 10th question. So if you missed a question you'd fall back down to 1,000.

It's because the editors rushed too fast to the credits. After a random team finished the game, the outro cue started to play. That's why the million-dollar cue was shortened. The same thing happened in Ukraine in 2021 when Oleg Moroz won the game and a million Ukrainian hryvnia.

I learned a long time ago, the “Ask the Audience” lifeline is the Weakest of all the lifelines, especially for a Million Dollar Question. That’s why it should always be used first, and the “Ask the Host” or “Phone a Friend” second. Always save the “50/50” as your last lifeline, because it’s the strongest of the 4 lifelines. Still, the “Double Dip” was pretty useful at times, and would’ve made things a lot easier for contestants.
It used to be better. Regis's New York audience seemed smarter. They hired a bunch of shallow cheering people for the audience for this season I think, instead of having people apply for free tickets. They're all idiots.

The closeups embody some of the iconic tension the show used to have before it went full-on comedy hour. Wish the producers remembered the recipe of the original formula like we see play out here on accident, before they let it be a parody of itself like it is most times now (Jimmy regularly mocking the lighting, etc).

This season felt like it was a last minute event, just arranging it for charity celebrity specials seems like it was easier. ABC had an original game show for civilians called Lucky 13 they were hyping up instead but it was lame and flopped hard.

This is an excellent Million Dollar Question. Writers did a good job with this one. Even the 3 wrong answers were very reasonable

ALWAYS ask the audience to ONLY press the button if they 100% for sure know the answer. Too much noise....
I thought everyone had to push a button to proceed with the game, but supposedly it is actually optional, which blows my mind given all the guessing
@@occono3543 I've seen a few constants ask up front, but most don't. It makes the answers way less reliable (just look at this segment for example).

dawg, regis just said if they won. it took like, what, 10 seconds max? love regis but jimmy definitely adds a little more suspense, especially with the computer prompt.

Even before 'Ask the host' was a lifeline option, the host isn't told the correct answer until 'final answer' is locked in.
Hence why Jimmy has to _literally ask_ the computer to reveal the right answer after he lends his help.
It's all fair.

This season felt like it was a last minute event, just arranging it for charity celebrity specials seems like it was easier. ABC had an original game show for civilians called Lucky 13 they were hyping up instead but it was lame and flopped hard.
