That Appo... its a pair of binoculars from Rex and a lick of mustard yellow paint away from being Commander Bly, my fingers are very tightly crossed! Hot Toys needs to move away from the Clone Wars clones for a bit and focus on ROTS troopers.

It’s all because of Anakin that they focus on 501st… I don’t remember any episodes where you see obi wan in a mission with his clone battalion,it’s always along with Rex, 501st and Cody.

As much as i love the 501st, I really hope they make some 104th wolf pack troopers. Wolffe, Boost, Sinker and standard clones. Thats my dream figures from them! Excellent review as usual!

I can't understand why HT didn't offer these figures separate from the vehicle, but did so with the new Sandtrooper. I have no room for that BARC speeder, but would LOVE that Appo figure!

Really great clones & beautiful looking speeders. A bit of lore dump this version of Appo is based on his comic version in the legends books, although the absense of the white arrow on his head is a bit unappealing & degrades the figure since it is a significant part that makes him stand out from all the other 501st clones asides from his commander getup. The heavy weapons clone is not based on anything other than the newest star wars battlefront 2 game. As a player they did not do him justice on the weapon selection they gave him because they give him a rotary cannon & a heavy rifle of some sort in the game

@@Fr0stbit3_only in the clone wars where he is a sergeant for some reason. He has the arrow because Dave filoni worked on last airbender. Like app much more in the movies and comics

That first speeder base also came with the Mando Scout Trooper & speeder. Looks like the 2nd one you showed is the BD Mk 85 since the pole is in the middle :D

Great video! Manufacturers are not allowed to go all out on packaging for Star Wars merchandise. They have to be uniform with all other merchandise and manufacturers. That's why they all look pretty basic on the outside and they go crazy on the inside.

Great Job Justin, I was waiting for your review before buying appo with the speeder, but my local comic store only had 2 of them yesterday, they were going to be sold out the same day they received it. So far I loved it, i have to admit that I am not impressed with the speeder itself, however when you put a clone on it (I put captain rex, it's funny that coincidently you did it too) the whole thing looks amazing!

Great review Justin! You always mention the boring box art of the SW hot toys, I saw someone explain that the black and grey design is a Lucasfilm mandate for all SW products, they impose that design in the style guide that they give to the licensors, Hot toys, Sideshow,factory ent, etc. Can't remember who said it, I thought you mentioned it in a livestream. I know I heard it somewhere

Yep
Depends on the source material. He has an arrow on his helmet when he’s a sergeant during the umbara arc (which is the only time we see him in the clone wars series). But in all of his appearances before that he doesn’t (because the arrow was a new thing for him in TCW). He technically appears in revenge of the sith, apparently he’s supposed to be the trooper that talks to bail organa. (He doesn’t look any different from the other troopers so I wouldn’t be surprised if that information came from a guide book or something). This figure is actually inspired by his original Hasbro action figure from 2006. It could also be based on one of his comic book appearances, but I’m not to familiar with those. It always seems like every 501st commander in the comics is different depending on the issue/story arc (I guess they had a high mortality rate).

These are basically Battlefront 2 skins. Appo is basically the Phase II Coruscant Guard Officer, 87th Sentinel Corps, or 327th Star Corps skin minus the range finder on the helmet, and the Heavy Weapons Clone Trooper is the same as the Phase II Heavy 501st Legion Trooper minus the backpack and rotary canon and a couple aesthetic changes.
You're right about the flight poles. They are super sturdy. I've modified both mine so the speeders sit closer to the ground and there's a big chunk of metal in there. The BARC speeders aren't going anywhere.

Appo’s poldron colour signifies he’s in the 501st, it has nothing to do with rank. The fact that the blue is a slightly different shade compared to the blue on his armour because it’s painted onto a different material

Okay so I have been wondering about this for a while. When you get a vehicle that comes with a sixth scale figure, is the figure built cheaper/different compared to a figure that comes by itself?

I love the efficient transitions, especially the side-by-side rotating views of Appo and the HWT. That was bordering on ASMR.
Great overview of the clone armor, I got a ton of information I haven't seen discussed in the same level of detail before.
The DC-15 stock that can't actually fold back made me chuckle. I would have never noticed since I've never deployed it - I guess neither has Hot Toys 😂

40 minute long review lol special presentation, and a good one! Yeah you have to go heavy clone trooper, that's one of those figures you'd be interested in by itself if it weren't exclusive to the vehicle. Also the best 501st releases i think are jesse and the Heavy clone but they gotta show some love to the 212th battalion

Anybody knows where one can get smaller flight poles for this speeders? The sit way too high and standing the clone trooper next to it doesn’t look that good.

Hello there!
I wanted to ask you if the pole that holds the BARC Speeder to the base can be folded backwards (like the flying poles that come with many figures) so that the height of the vehicle with respect to the ground would be lower (which is how it should be according to has shown in Clone Wars). At that height, the holding pole is not realistic enough to be mounted on the vehicle. Furthermore, the BARC Speeders moved quite close to the ground.

The only slight detail that I’m having an issue with is the addition of the Kama for Appo; in both the Clone Wars show and Revenge of the Sith, Appo never wore the Kama, and no images of Appo shows Appo wearing the Kama. Again, it’s a small detail that I don’t agree with, but it still looks cool!!!

Amazing but really hot toys when are you going to finally fix the stock on that dc-15s blaster carbine. Mean seriously how long have they had that stock that can’t fold back to how it’s supposed to for a stock. Even sideshows version does that at least. One thing that makes me angry when see a hot toys clone carbine. For the price and how often they sell the same versions just little different details here and there they can least fix the stock

i want to ask where the hell is the helmet arrow on commander appo witch make him and we meme him as a airbender (if you watched the avatar the last airbender you will understand) and why the visor on heavy weapons clone trooper is strange
in the middle is too thin and the the stripe is too big because of the wrong blue color saturation witch is merging with the visor s stripe
and making it bigger like the republic troopers from the old republic

if you give commander appo the Macrobinoculars he will be turned into commander bow ( a different 501st commander ) that is nice for people who want a commander bow figure

Yikes! Those things are HUGE! They look bigger than the ROTJ speeder bike. Glad I passed on these. Kind of annoyed that HT locked a few great clones behind a vehicle pay wall.

The fact that the heavy weapons clone doesn't come with any of the blasters he used in the game really turns me away from him. It's a shame since that armor design was my go to for the heavy class!

Man, they're really well done and all, but I just don't like the initial design of those speeders, they're so daggy. I mean I know some SW designs are meant to be banal, but there's daggy, and *daggy*! Not like my money isn't spoken for for years anyway so... and if they do indeed have such a catalogue of clone parts it's a bit rough to have to buy the big-arse vehicle just to get the figure I reckon.
