I just hate that education exist to put ‘Label’ on kids. I have a funny story. In my third year of primary school, I had a science exam, and I got 0. Like how many times can you remember having 0 in any of your exam? Also, my mom was a physics teacher, and it was even multiple choice questions. You could have at least guessed one question right. But I really got 0, and kids made fun of me. And I was grown up believing myself that I was an idiot. But guess what? 10 years later, I became a writer, and I got a publishing contract when I’m still 22. How many people have you seen who can finish a whole book in your life? The world is big, and everybody has different talents. And I’m just sad that the education system now isn’t really helping people to discover themselves who they really are.

Oh no, that must have been a horrible experience! Happy to hear that you did not get discouraged and was able to focus on what you are good at. What is the title of your book?

i failed a lot of assessments in year 11. the reasons were mainly because of medical issues i have but im so glad i failed now - taught me failing is okay and its not this big scary monster. it seems worse when you were a previous high achieving student. it turned all good in the end, and i ended up starting training to become an opera singer to get more credits for school, which is something i've always wanted to do anyway. the educational system is absolutely terrible and makes young people truly believe they are worthless. good thing the internet is a thing these days so dont need school to make money. you can learn coding, do adobe, web design, etc. a lot of people feel as if they need to attend university - this is how i feel despite not wanting to go. so unfortunate. learning is amazing tho

hey, i don't know if you will read this but i just wanna share my opinions about this. by the way, it's the first video that i watched in your channel, kinda weird for me to watch this as first because you said that video is different from others lol. anyways i feel like i don't enjoy the things that i 'have to' learn in school because i think it puts 'barriers' in topics like i learned electric circuits at school but it's just in theory. we just draw them and calculate things. we don't talk much about how it works in real life and more. if i wanna learn more about it, i have to do research about it but what if the 'educational system' would be more functional and helpful so we can adapt them to real life in our head and make us love and enjoy learning? the system is here uhh... i really don't like it... in my opinion it has some problems and i hate that i can't help it. personally, i'm ''succesful'' in academic life but i don't enjoy going to school. generally i can't focus on things that i want to do like my hobies because school takes so much time of mine and make me feel so exhausted or i just can't manage my time properly, i don't know. great video though

Yes, I will read this (I always read all my comments 🥰)
I'm so sorry to hear you also don't enjoy going to school. I really recognize this feeling too that there are so many things that you would like to learn, but that school is not teaching you and that you don't have the time or resources to learn on your own. It would be great if there would be time reserved in education where you can just learn about whatever you are interested in in that moment, instead of having to spend all your time in school learning the exact same thing as everyone else.

@@ALifeofLearning thanks, you're so kind ☺️, yeah it would be so good if the system was like that so we could improve ourself at what we actually wanna learn.

Hi! Your video showed up on my suggestions and I'm glad I clicked on this. It's refreshing to see people actively talk about the shortcomings of studying AND graduate school, because I, for one, went into my phd thinking it's just gonna be a little difficult and it'll generally be okay. I had no idea what the education system works beyond undergrad, and that really overwhelmed me. Had I known it before, it's likely that I wouldn't pursue my PhD. It's not to bash grad school whatsoever, I just think that with proper expectations, people can definitely make better decisions on what kind of education they're going to acquire and what life paths are open to them. This is something now I try to actively talk about in my own videos, my struggles with graduate school, and I hope it at least helps one person make a better-informed choice. Anyway, great breakdown, very relatable thoughts, and hope to see more from you:)

Thank you for your comment! I totally agree that going to grad school has become very normalized, when it really is not for everyone. Although I really like how versatile academia is, the fact that I feel so pressured to perform has made me doubt whether it is the right environment for me for long-term employment. But sadly I can only find out about that by getting my master's and applying for a job in academia, which means I first have to obtain my master's. It would be great if it was easier to explore different life paths and see what works for you.
