Im kinda new to all this radio lingo but i was gonna ask if truckers still use radios to communicate with each other and if they do, do they have to be in close proximity for these radios? I would assume so right?
That definitely not true. Most GMRS users are wanabe EMS or police officers or they are ex-law-enforcement that been fired for SA’s. They act like radio police. It’s comical listening to them.
Best thing about GMRS is it’s simply FRS frequencies. Your $400 radio can talk to your kids $5 Spider-Man walkie talkie. Anyone can use it without a bunch of hoops to jump through.
By the way, it's very easy and inexpensive to get a GMRS license. Here's a blog from Midland about it: midlandusa.com/blogs/blog/why-do-i-need-a-gmrs-license-how-do-i-get-it?gad_source=1&gclid=Cj0KCQiA3sq6BhD2ARIsAJ8MRwVK9gqu7N0mRV87k7GKxar2Q_zLpBwCbxAnSAcMaJRENPq6bTiAB7oaAgdXEALw_wcB
The question is why aren't they all in one, having to manage all of those is ridiculous in 2025 not to mention all just bait sitting there waiting to be stolen when if it was one radio you could hide it.
I sincerely wish they were, and TECHNICALLY you can hit all of the bands with a HAM radio, but it's illegal. There are very strict laws on what types of radios can broadcast on what bands (station/channel) at what wattage (power output of the signal). But a HAM radio with illegal modification is capable of broadcasting and receiving on any of those channels.
How far can you talk with your GMRS configuration? What antenna are you using? Nice configuration!!

Yes, trucking still uses CB radio and now many are using GMRS. The distance for CB can vary. 4 miles is possible in good conditions.
What are those pouches on the dashboard?
I stick with GMRS because the people are very friendly and DO NOT HAVE HAM ATTITUDE!
HAM attitude is a REAL think for sure lol. Honestly, HAMmers is why I haven't continued to learn it.

@@Freebird_67 You are just wrong.
@@Freebird_67Are the radio police in the room with you now?
GMRS is ok, but in my town I have 10x the amount of ham repeaters that actually work!
Nice! Makes sense to use HAM in your case. I started with HAM, but my whole crew is on GMRS, so I got my family a license.
GMRS doesn’t work well indoors does it ?

To broadcast on GMRS (General Mobil Radio Service) you are required to have a license, FRS (Family Radio Service) you are not.

GMRS imo is pretty useless.
