Calves
Imagine trying these method while "swallowing your neck" like I have seen other soldiers do lol. Tape coming up, definitely will come back to add my results
I just did tape today and got my neck increased about an inch and passed. I was doing the neck exercises and increasing my blood flow. I even got some stares however, I told myself don't worry about that. It does work. Does not mean that I can go out and eat everything in sight. In fact, I'm able to officially eat a more balanced diet and lose weight more slowly and at the same time keep working out as best as I can.

After watching this I measured and was shocked to see my neck was a very sad 16.5". I did this out of curiosity and after it was 17.5. Of course it's just because of being pumped but it reminded me that I'd better start to include some neck work to get out of the pencil neck category 🤣

The immediate pump is temporary. Best results are probably inside of 10/15 minutes. I've never seen anything that would forbid doing this. Perhaps a local unit policy? But I would doubt it. Some people might not like it, but there isn't much grounds to say you can't. I didn't this while in line for tape at SLC

Hey, Brad. Thanks for this new insight. It is really intriguing to see this. I know you are tired of answering the same questions over and over again, so I will try to make this more different. I have been thinking of incorporating these exercises into my daily routine. Can you please tell me if this exercise is more effective than the neck curles with plates? And how often should we do it to get more permanent results? How many days should we let muscles rest before we do it again? Also, how soon can we expect the results, roughly of course, is it weeks, months, idk? Thanks very much for the answers in advance. Looking forward to hearing from you soon
Andrija, I have not idea how I missed your comment. Sorry for the late reply. I think diversity in your training is good. You should use these and neck curls. Change it up. If you added a few sets to your routine twice a week I'm sure you'd start to see results in a few weeks. They may not be huge results but if you take something you don't train, and start training it, you'll see some decent growth. Dont over do it. Start with just a few reps and sets, and build up as you see fit
Having trouble dropping those extra couple of pounds, and as a female with smaller waist and bigger hips ratio wise without a thicker neck my body fat gets marked super high. Hoping this will help prepare for the inevitable tape as when I calculated it one extra inch could pass me! A true bummer as I have a birthday in a month which will change my standards though hahah
This is some good shit. Just tried messing around with it and added that inch. I know you said that crash-dieting would be counterproductive to doing this, but would incorporating a water-shedding routine before a H/W interfere with the pump? Thanks so much for sharing this, I was really impressed with how well this worked.
That's awesome! Grats dude. I have never tried a water cut along with this. The worst you could do is try it and see how it works. Thanks for checking this out
Just saw this today and I’m definitely going to try this because I got a PT test coming up soon! Thanks for the 💎 gem, I’m a big guy and height and weight is where I struggle and I’m glad I found this out!
Sorry to hear of your issue. Use the time you have to try and drop some body weight, and also use this technique to build your neck up more. You will need to generally train your neck to help increase width. Then before you get taped again, use this technique to really pump up your neck, and certainly you'll be good to go
If you're Army, I'm pretty sure there is a milper message that says you're not allowed to get flagged due to covid. Pretty much you can get a counseling but you're not allowed to get flagged
Out of sheer curiosity I tried this and taped my neck before and after as I have tape approaching on Monday and I gained half an inch! Any tips on being able to maximize the pump that is received from this type of neck training?
@@BradArbic I Ended up gaining .5 inches on the official tape test, but i was up 1 full inch an hour before (1hour drive to base) . I definitely feel the pump on my neck.
Oh shit I saw your original video on this on the lions strength page, I thought it was increasing your neck size over time, i.e. 2 mins a day for a year would give an inch of muscle there... Didn't realize this was a temporary boost haha
@@BradArbic I have added these to before and after each second workout of mine. I do different neck exercises the other days. In fairness to my original comment, I am after strength primarily (bjj) size would just be an added bonus.
Been on a deadmans profile since I got covid in November bc of trouble breathing and chest pain. The profile goes though April until a cardiologist clears me. I have to tape friday so im gonna try this to pass since I have pretty much no muscle mass at this point haha. Will update if my career ends with me being "the bad example nco"
Definitely great tips, I have some other exercises that one can do without the use of any bands. Been taped since ‘95. They have always worked for me!!! HMU if you have questions
@@marshakieapplewhite6525 you can do neck rotations without any type of weight while stand in line to be taped. You can also do what I call air bite, it looks funny but effective. Basically what you are doing is stretching the neck muscles by tightening the neck and taking bites.
Is funny how taping can change. Im currently deploy had a HT&WT. Since I been losing weight I lost an inch of my neck which means 2% over and built and score over 500 on the ACFT. Currently flag and lost promotable status.
Losing weight will nearly always affect your neck. Many people will lose fat in their face and neck first which plays against them in the tape test. While you drop weight, continue to add I neck exercises to keep the muscles beefy in the neck and traps
Thats a great Idea with the band! I dont like bodyweight wrestlers bridge, so thats a good alternative 👍 But I dont really get the taping thing. Why do they measure your neck? Why is this important in us military? Never heard of that in german military
Thanks for the video man! Wondering if you are able to do all solo workouts prior to the tape? I have tape for OCS in a couple months and would rather not have to ask someone to hold the band for me in line. Lol.
I've got thyroid issues and I've been struggling with my weight the last year. I weigh 205 at 5'9" at the age of 24, and my allotted weight is 179. I was put on the ABCP last December. Since then I've remained a pv2 and watched others I came out of training with progress to specialist. It's been hard for me mentally and emotionally. I'm currently on month 3 of my medical profile due to the thyroid. And have 3 months left to fix it or I get out. I have weigh in tomorrow at 0530 and I'm gonna try this technique to see if it'll help me. Thank you in advance regardless of the outcome. I appreciate the help.

I don't wanna leave without doing something considerable for this branch or at least providing my wife with some sense of security.
This is a great way. Thanks I will definitely do this more. I don't understand the correlation with the military? Does your neck get measured in the Army and it needs to be a certain width and if so for what reason? Thanks!
Hey awesome video! Definitely see you around fort carson.. But I was just told I have to wait till next month to go yo BLC because I was over 1 pct for body fat this will help a lot when I go in for the actual Ht/Wt. One question how long do you think the pump last from this and do you think I can keep the neck gains over time if I add them in to my work out program?
Justin, thanks for checking out the vid. The pump will likely only last for 45min to an hour. Your best bet is to use the bands immediately before you go in for tape. Do it in the car before you walk up or while you wait in line; I did that. As for keeping the gains, yes you can sustain the growth. The muscles in your neck are no different than any other muscle. If you work them you will build them and the gains will stay as long as there is demand.
@@BradArbic i just bought a band resistance after watching your vid --to support my neck workout program... Already subsc your channel as well, keep up your good work Sir!
The height and weight needs to be updated. Apparently I’m 5 9 and I need to be 179 pounds while being able to trap bar deadlift 340 for 3. And ruck March with 35-90 pounds for miles. 59 should be up to 189.
How long does the pump last? If someone did it an hour b4 their tape, would it go back down by the time they get taped? And would doing it for longer make a bigger pump?
It's the same as any other pump really. Effects may last as long as an hour but best results are probably round 30 mins. Longer doesn't mean better pump really, there is a point of diminishing returns.
Riccua, as long as you get enough resistance. This trick works wonders and I've heard a lot of positive feedback on the results. I also recommend adding neck work to your training rotation to help build neck size over time
I'm surprised neck training STILL is not that big of a thing in the military (army especially because I don't know how the other branches do it. I've heard air force doesnt do neck taping). You'll see plenty of male soldiers with buff arms but little 15 inch necks. Or male soldiers who are more heavyset but their necks are too small for the tape. I'm surprised neck training hasn't caught on in the army as much as you'd think it would have. I myself am 5'5'' and weigh around 180 pounds but through some training for the last few years, I have between a 17.5 to 18 inch neck. My neck is 2 to even 3 inches bigger than quite a few guys who are quite taller and weigh more than me.
How long does the pump last? I'm wondering for MEPS. Do you think any size will last if I do a neck workout the morning of and the measurements get taken the same morning or even afternoon?
Any time! You probably could do something like this every day, but there would be no real reason for most people I think. That said, though, I like the idea of working some neck training into your routine.
@@BradArbic i think neck extensions are more like a nodding of the head (forward and backward movement) whereas you wrap the band around the head and sort of turn it from side to side, as if you are shaking your head no, and do that from all 4 directions (left/right/frong/back), with a sort of rhythm, for time, rather than counting reps. so to me it feels a little different than a banded neck extension or banded neck curl.
I've never followed any kind of neck program or workout. My intuition tells me it's probably best not to over complicate the matter. I think bands are probably one of the best ways to engage the muscles in the neck. It's a group of fairly small muscles by comparison, and they are very active throughout the day. So I feel like they can sustain several doses of targeted training throughout a week.
I literally just tried this for the first time and grew about an inch and a half on my neck! Thank you so much for everything!!!

Thanks for checking this out
Thank you sir!!!! 😭😭😭
I literally need 1 inch on my neck to pass!
Best of luck!
Very curvy female here Well it’s 2022 I will try this tonight b4 I go to bed I will be taped tomorrow. I’ll be back to with the results
Do it in the morning before you are taped. Tonight won't help you
@@BradArbic I wanted to see if it really really works I gained and inch but yes I’ll be bk with the results
Hell yeah! Good luck tomorrow!
did it work? i have one tomorrow but i don’t have a way to do this right before
Great video, I have been doing this for a week now, but does this increase the overall size of the neck or does it just make it stronger?
If you train consistently it will make your neck grow permanently as well as make it stronger
Thank you for this video!!!
Glad it was helpful!
This is great. Thanks for sharing
Thanks for watching!
Great video! How long do these results last after a workout? I'm prior service going through MEPS in the next month for the Reserves.
The pump lasts 15-20 minutes, just like anything else. Though of you train regularly you can get more permanent growth
@@BradArbic Understood. Thanks!
Just saw this today and I’m definitely going to try this because I got a PT test coming up soon! Thanks for the 💎 gem, I’m a big guy and height and weight is where I struggle and I’m glad I found this out!
Good luck!! Keep me posted!
Nice one. Appreciate the tip
Thanks for checking it out brother. Share it with Soldiers and friends. It might help make a difference for some folks. I know it helps me.
Wish i saw this last night, just got flagged this morning for breaking tape. i was 3% over. if my neck was 1 in bigger then i would have passed
You could also benefit from supplements that help create a pump, NO2 and arginine come to mind.
This is amazing. Thanks, Brad.
Thanks for checking it out Jay
Tape test today, bands arrived now. Lets see , these results !
Wow, 2minutes i added 1 whole inch, without even flexing my neck. It feels so pumped up. Thanks for the help!
Let me know how it works for you
@@BradArbic I Ended up gaining .5 inches on the official tape test, but i was up 1 full inch an hour before (1hour drive to base) . I definitely feel the pump on my neck.
@@BigJhits I appreciate you sharing the info.
Oh shit I saw your original video on this on the lions strength page, I thought it was increasing your neck size over time, i.e. 2 mins a day for a year would give an inch of muscle there... Didn't realize this was a temporary boost haha
Well there is a temporary effect, however training your neck over the long term will have lasting size effects
@@BradArbic I have added these to before and after each second workout of mine. I do different neck exercises the other days. In fairness to my original comment, I am after strength primarily (bjj) size would just be an added bonus.
Jeez I have to thank wrestling in high school for a bigger neck lol
When the teacher says if you brought your homework in 3:52
nope nope nope
Been on a deadmans profile since I got covid in November bc of trouble breathing and chest pain. The profile goes though April until a cardiologist clears me. I have to tape friday so im gonna try this to pass since I have pretty much no muscle mass at this point haha. Will update if my career ends with me being "the bad example nco"
I hope it works for you. Do the work 10 or so minutes before you get taped. I did mine while I was waiting in line for H/W and it worked out well
Definitely great tips, I have some other exercises that one can do without the use of any bands. Been taped since ‘95. They have always worked for me!!! HMU if you have questions
What are they? I’m interested to know.
I dont like bodyweight wrestlers bridge, so thats a good alternative 👍
But I dont really get the taping thing. Why do they measure your neck? Why is this important in us military? Never heard of that in german military
The Army adopted the taping as a field expedient method of determining Soldiers' body composition. Everyone unanimously agree it sucks.
Thanks for the video man! Wondering if you are able to do all solo workouts prior to the tape? I have tape for OCS in a couple months and would rather not have to ask someone to hold the band for me in line. Lol.
Dan, I did it all myself while in line. Only other people involved were people asking me to borrow my band!
Am gonna start today 22.february. will come back 22.mars for updates
My current neck is 40 cm ~ 15inches
Good luck
Hypothyroidism? Meds ought to help with the effects considerably. But I still.think neck work and development should help
@@BradArbic synthroid, yes hypo-thyroidism. Been taking it for two months and trying to get the right dosage. Seems like it's taking a while. I don't have anything else to show for myself or for my wife other than this career. I do it all for her and for the country I am blessed to be in. I don't wanna leave without doing something considerable for this branch or at least providing my wife with some sense of security.
Did you pass?
This is a great way. Thanks I will definitely do this more. I don't understand the correlation with the military? Does your neck get measured in the Army and it needs to be a certain width and if so for what reason? Thanks!
Thanks Lucas! Yes in the US Army we have to have our necks measured as a way of determining body fat. It is part of the standards for body composition
Precious tips and information..
Love it sir
Very kind, thanks for checking it out
@@BradArbic i just bought a band resistance after watching your vid --to support my neck workout program...
Totally agree. The current system is fucked
@@BradArbic thank you. I appreciate it a lot. Wish me luck tomorrow.
@@BradArbic Thank you, you helped another soldier keep their livelihood!
Awesome, glad to hear the success stories. Spread the word and help other Soldiers too
How long did you do it before taping?
Lol, crazy I found this while in the same barracks it was filmed.
Hell yeah! One of my guys is there right now for ALC; If you see Rosvold say whats up! Good luck in school!
I am going to start doing this
Let me know how it works for you
Great video thanks
You're welcome, thanks for checking it out
This is crazy. Lol assume any band will work? I have to try this now. I’ll pass but getting BF down always looks nice. Lol
Riccua, as long as you get enough resistance. This trick works wonders and I've heard a lot of positive feedback on the results. I also recommend adding neck work to your training rotation to help build neck size over time
Turkey Neck is my problem 😢. Hope this helps... I'm going to try
Some people just don't know they can train their neck like any other body part.
Right about how long before it tape would you recommend doing this?
I'd do it as close as possible. I've done it while in line for getting taped.
Subscribed!!!
Thanks Daniel, glad to have you along
Quick question about this method. How long will the neck have the extra inches till it goes back down to normal size?
Probably no more than an hour
I am curious as to how many hours prior to your weight in do you have to do those exercises?
30 minutes tops
Weird question but Do you know about how long it lasts for? Would I be able to do this at home then drive to the office to be taped?
Better off doing in the parking lot before you head in
I busted tape and I got flagged, holding me back from getting Promoted... off by 1% hope this helps!
Best of luck. Let me know how you fare
How long does the pump last? I'm wondering for MEPS. Do you think any size will last if I do a neck workout the morning of and the measurements get taken the same morning or even afternoon?
Thats what I'm wondering
Definitely not afternoon. I wouldn't bet on the pump beyond 30 min IMO.
Wow! That is insane!!!!!
Thick necks save lives
So when going to MEPS for the first time knowing I won’t pass the weight check, I should want my neck to be bigger than usual on the tape test ?
It will help you if your neck is pumped up before they tape you
Ok one last question, what if you suck your stomach in during tape? Will they notice you sucking it in?
Yes they will notice that. I recommend flexing your abs but not sucking in.
Ok
Yes. Bigger the better. Waist should be smaller. Smaller the better.
Thank you very much for this information sir! Is it bad if you do this everyday?
Any time! You probably could do something like this every day, but there would be no real reason for most people I think. That said, though, I like the idea of working some neck training into your routine.
@@BradArbic thanks for the reply sir. I want a bigger and stronger neck thats why 💪
Love the tee shirt man, where are ya from?
Originally from Michigan
@@BradArbic where? I’m just outside Detroit (2 blocks up Woodward)
Grew up in Brighton, 96 and 23
I'm curious, does this exercise have a name? Should I just call it the Arbic Neck Exercise, since I've never seen anyone else do it?
Overall its just a neck extension, but I'm down with you naming it after me!
I approve!
Does it stay the two inches the next day and if I do this every day will my neck get bigger and bigger?
The pump aspect is temporary, but if you keep up the work it will increase your neck size over time
Thank you!
Quite welcome
Will the pump go tho it’s only a pump will this grow my neck overall make it bigger ?
The pump is temporary. If you do work on your neck consistently, you will have sustained growth
@@BradArbic are there any other workouts for neck to make it massive you suggest I want a wrestler neck as I do mma
