Tornado Impact: States with Most Twisters So Far in 2024 Revealed

- Multiple communities have been devastated by tornadoes last weekend across the Midwest. As of Thursday, Oklahoma has seen 40 tornadoes so far this year, according to AccuWeather.
It's not quite a new record for Oklahoma, but other states in Tornado Alley are seeing rashes of storms this spring.
Here's how Oklahoma compares to other states.
As of today, Oklahoma is at 95 tornadoes in 2024 so far… confirmed with two EF4 (Marietta and Barnsdall) and also this season, potentially the largest anti-cyclonic tornado ever record was in SW Oklahoma (Loveland) .. it’s been rated as an EF-1 because it hit an unpopulated area… they really need to fix the Enhanced Fujita scale.. hurricanes are rated by wind speeds and power, before making land fall.. in order for a tornado to receive the respect it deserves.. it has to hit direct contact in a populated area.. el Reno Oklahoma tornado for instance.. the widest tornado ever recorded with wind speeds at 302 mph!! And it’s recorded as an EF3…. Like seriously? With or without damage the el Reno tornado I’s a EF5. And no one will change my mind.. yes damage should be looked at for ratings.. but when a tornado exceeds wind speeds of the rating, damage or no damage.. it deserves the rating we all know it should have… anyways. Everybody stay safe!
Surprised Colorado is not in the top 5. Weld county is one of the liveliest tornado locations in the US.
Americans living in these states and building their houses out of wood and nails, then rebuilding their houses after they get annihilated, in these same states, again out of wood and nails.
*WHY*
You could say the same about people who build on the coasts, and islands, and cliffs, and sand dunes, and in New Orleans. But tornadoes are much less predictable.
You’d rather build art deco buildings that take years to build and have them destroyed just to start all over again?
Oklahoma has by far the largest tornados. Ef3 to Ef5's are scary asf.

I’m in okc as well. We live in tornado watch, tornado warning. Was in Moore 2013 ef5. house was taken by a tornado April 19th of 2023 finished my rebuild in December 2023. Now waiting for it to happen again. Can’t live in fear
@@RickEvans-x7r that's true just another typical day in Oklahoma I live on the northwest side of OKC I've been very fortunate I've had a lot of wind damage but I've never been hit by a tornado
Born in Illinois, relocated to Nebraska, married into an Iowa family and lived between the two states for years in stark terror during tornado season. Then decided to move to California, 3 earthquakes in less than 3 years. Sigh!!

If you live in the Midwest - Iowa, Nebraska, the Dakotas, Missouri, Minnesota, Illinois...etc., just prepare your basement now because they are shifting tornado alley. Get your food, water, radios, blankets, whatever squared away now.
But Nebraska doesn’t have bears or venomous snakes (mostly). It’s a solid trade off.😆
I'm a Miami, Florida native and have been living in Columbus, Ohio for 2 1/2 years. Last night when the tornado siren and the government alert went off, I felt my stomach drop 😂. I can't even imagine living directly in T'Alley and seeing one of those behemoths. 🥹😩
As someone who was raised near New Orleans but lives in Oklahoma I can tell you it is wild. I went through hurricanes but we had days notice! Always had the windows boarded up or left town. A tornado its like "oh crap where are my kids, dogs, let me rush outside in the dead of night into what maybe a snake filled cellar" 👀🤦♀️ I know people who have been driving during them. I thank God that's never happened to me and pray it never does. Hurricanes are certainly scary and last for days. But a tornado will creep up and take down a whole city on Tuesday. It's crazy!
And I thought SEC Country (Basically Arkansas, Louisiana, Mississippi, Alabama and Georgia) was going to be the new Tornado Alley.
Seeing Ohio at 4 is Crazy when I was younger I was told where I lived we couldn’t get them but that definitely hasn’t been the case in recent years.

I was born & raised in Kansas I’ve lived here my entire life, except the six years I was in the military, now 60 I’ve been through several, I always think about the town of Andover which has been leveled twice, 1991 and again in 2022, Kansans are as tough as they come we always rebound by helping each other.
