I always love getting gifts from my friends who get to travel abroad. I have always wanted to travel to 🇩🇪 just have always been fascinated by the culture and people!
You can make your own béchamel sauce with mustard. Boil the eggs until soft or hard, depending on your taste. Serve with boiled potatoes. And the delicious meal is ready. Mustard sauce with eggs and potatoes. 😋
if you have made a white sauce , you can put mustard, a bit of lemon juice, peper in it and you have your own Senfsoße. boiled eggs, and boiled potatoes and green beans is a perfect match.
In bigger stores you may find bags with very small bags of (maybe 10) tiny gummy bears. Great give aways for extended family, collegues, aquaintances, neighbours etc.
I'd love to hear feedback on how your family and friends liked the things you picked out. That'd be an interesting video or instagram shorts idea. I've got to say you picked some interesting stuff and I'm curious if they like it. Also a tip when looking for local honey in supermarkets they say on the back if they contain local honey but last time I checked the one you bought contains honey from EU and non EU countries. They have to label that, so it pretty easy to find out if it's actually local or not. That being said, I still love that honey you picked, it's delicious and a great choice because of the different varieties. I'd also recommend flavours they don't have in the us, like black currant and Waldmeister
Be careful with honey, there may be import bans in various countries outside the EU due to various bee diseases. This applies particularly to Australia, for example, but also to various other countries. Likewise, the EU does not accept all food from outside. Therefore, always check with your own customs office in advance to avoid paying a fine and having the gift destroyed.
Hermann Laue (HeLa) is originally a spice importer in a small town at the outskirts of Hamburg. The company mixes exotic spices and herbs and fills them into paper satchels that butchers use when they make their pastries. Mixing curry powder into ketchup was an idea after the invention of the „Currywurst“ and when BBQs became more common. One of the HeLa managers once told me that the giants like Heinz or Thomy would have no problem to wipe them off the market, but as spiced ketchup is such a Germany-only trade good for a very small market they simply ignore that dwarf.
I liked all of your choices and liked it watching- very German and very special. I also love Eier in Senfsauce 💜 … its a great idea to bring it with you. Me i also dont like Haribo-Colorado … i prefer Phantasia.
I love all your choices (even though they wouldn’t be my choices) because I can tell you want your friends and family experience your joy! Pico-Balla is so great but unfortunately Haribo took out the blue one, those where the best.

03:00 Vanillin zucker =/= Vanilla Sugar. Vanilla Sugar = Vanillezucker. Vanillin is artificial vanilla flavour. You can make Vanillezucker yourself very easily: just mix vanilla into a glass of sugar, maybe stick the pods in as well, and wait a while.
Interesting choices - I know it's difficult because you can't bring anything fresh or too delicate for travel, so you got many things from your daily experience. The ornament suggests that you're pregnant?! Congratulations! Where are the Überraschungseier? Also, why not walk that extra mile and get some really high end chocolates (e.g. Rausch) for them so they learn what sort of abomination Hershey's really is? My experience suggests that US ladies are overwhelmed of the quality of the makeup products you can get at dm - at very affordable prices, so why not have a look there, too? Oh, and: "Zúckerrübensìrup" has the main stress on the first syllable and the secondary stress on the penultimate syllable.

I like most of the choices but I would’ve loved to see a little less Maggi, Milka, Dr. oetker and other big brands and perhaps some artisanal or locally made stuff from small manufacturers too! Like nice hand made chocolates or jams etc… I feel like this was a very American selection of German foods rather than a German selection. But maybe that was the point?

Many of your product choices are low quality. Take the vanilla suger for exsmple. This sugar contains exactly 0% real vanilla. It is 100% artificial. But we have vanilla sugar with real vanilla. Have a look in the organic products section at a supermarket or go to a dedicsted organic supermarket. Of course you will see that the real vanilla sugar is more costly as vanilla is an expensive spice. Are you still in germany? If yes, it would be a pleasure for me to go shopping with you and show you the better alternatives for your products that don‘t use artificial ingredients.
Please tell me wheat I can bring that will pass customs 😂 and doesn’t cost a lot of money. I’m up for suggestions. Plus I got a lot of little cousins, nephews and nieces that would love to try German chocolate
Some pretty sad choice in this video... many artificial things with harmful or super unnatural ingredients in the first part. There a are so much better things in the world, like vanilla sugar from the same brand with real vanilla in the sugar instead of artifical vanilla aroma. And calling Maggi a "seasoning" is an understatement... its more like a chemical mix for people that cant cook and need aroma booster with msg.
How someone can be so negative about a person sharing things that they love or think would be fun from one culture to another never fails to surprise me. I encourage you to make your own video.
@@brittanyalaine I really don't know what is fun about claiming that such an unnatural stuff is a cool product to buy in germany. Everything you showed is available here, made in Germany. I just had a Ritter Sport yesterday. I was hoping to see unique items.
You can easily make your own fresh vanilla sugar by putting a vanilla bean into your sugar container 😉
You can buy Ritter Sport chocolate bars here in the UK, I particularly like the marzipan and rum raisin varieties- sehr lecker! :-)

Vanillin or Vanillezucker in the little paper bag or glass bottle is so praktisch.
It made learning to bake so much easier when I was a kid.

However, it will be confiscated when you land Stateside. Just eat the loaf on the plane before you land.
