Thunderbirds Are Go! - Alan the TV Repair Man

- Taken from the pilot episode "Ring of Fire". During a routine mission to arrest the spin of a rogue TV satellite, Alan Tracy voices his disappointment at the lack of 'real' rescues involving TB3 - this is made worse by Kayo (whom we all know is really Tintin Kyrano) suggesting she is babysitting him! Fortunately, Alan is soon called upon to save the day and take part in a crucial sabotage attempt on the Hood's communication satellite. What did you think of the new Alan character? Is Kayo (ok fine, Tintin) a useful addition to the team or should they have left things well alone? Let me know in the comments below!

TheRandomPerson 02 He certainly was! The classic "salmon jump" opening sequence to be precise, I could tell you which episode that's taken from but I've already been too geeky. :P

iMadRichard My childhood didn't include Gerry Anderson shows, it WAS Gerry Anderson shows! That sequence was part of the opening titles and has since become very iconic, but actually it only ever appears in the body of one episode - it was well publicised that Stingray could "salmon jump" as a way of escaping the Terror Fish, but as it turned out there was never really a need for such a get out of jail free card, so this ability was never properly showcased. I like to think this one and only jump came about because the scriptwriters realised they had to use it once otherwise they couldn't put it in the opening titles!
Ahhh I see, I thought you'd meant that there was one set of titles slightly different to the rest and you spotted which that was. I just assumed it was the titles, so...
All I have to say... John has EXCELLENT taste in Television Shows

I was too young to remember the old thunderbirds, I did watch it I just can't remember much about it
I love this new series though, it's something I can watch with my whole family, I love the characters and the storylines
And can I just say, I think Alan and kayo would make a great couple :)
Kayo is 19 in this and Alan is 14 XD Although, I remember reading something saying Alan does have an attraction to Kayo.. (or Tintin XD)
+Lost Sanity the head writer stated that he wouldn't say how old the characters were so any ages are from unreliable sources. Anyway it's pretty clear Alan is attracted to Kayo and it is slightly implied that Kayo might feel the same way. We will just have to wait and see in series 2

I said in the TB3 video that I feared that Alan could potentially be annoying - but I think he's actually okay, often "younger" characters end up being whiny and just grating. As for Kayo over Tintin - I do think it's better that she actually has a purpose within International Rescue, and isn't just "swept up" in it. I would guess that in this series we're not going to see John being rotated with Alan (and the rather suggestive way TB3 docked with TB5)
Mike M I was terrified they'd ruin him, like in ye dreaded 2004 feature film... But all seems good so far. I actually always felt he was made to seem a bit old in the original series, but these things musn't be overcorrected IMO - fingers crossed for the rest of the series!
I've never actually watched that mess. I'd love to see the launches from it, but that would be about it. (Hey, there's an idea)
Excellent idea I'll see what I can do! Lucky you haha, although it was alright-ish as a standalone film, it certainly didn't deserve Thunderbirds status.

Alan must be five years younger, like everyone else. He looks like a teenager, as he should be in the new series. I don't like his voice...
But, it's fun to see him surfin' through space :)

That surfboard must be a design of Shoji Kawamori as a nod to his show, Eureka 7. He did design Thunderbird S, after all.

why would you skip the launch sequence? that's like the coolest bit
henry dresser I was trying to keep the video length down because for some reason videos over 6 minutes long are more prone to copyright blocking. I've found a way to avoid this since making this video, so you'll now find videos with the full sequence included. Thanks for taking the time to watch the video and I would recommend hopping over to my "Thunderbird 3 Launch Sequence - Old versus New" vid to enjoy the full, unadulterated launch. :)

Henry dresser if you mean get to know the characters more I'd like to see 4 things
1:does the hood still have telekinesis and mind control
2:kayo using those abilities as well
3:her attempt to explain that to her brothers
4:kayo overpowering her uncle

Extra-vehicular Activity. It basically means going outside.
i worked out a better way to start with, jsut to play on the older shows. by kicking off with the start of the stingray opening before it cuts oout just before the sord sting ray is said (so get: we're about to launch -cut-) then have had the tv feeds cut and reveal john had been trying to watch
what have they done. . . :(
