when you hear her voice, you hear soul--not technique, not dramatizing, just pure soul. what a lovely soul and a lovely voice---tragically gone way, way too soon.
Karen was talent at it's best... No matter how ill,she could always go into the recording studio and do it in 1 take every time. She paved the way for so much, and for that we will always remember.
A truly beautiful song sung by a woman with an angelic voice sent down from the heavens. Such a tragedy her life was cut so short. RIP Karen. Your music is timeless as is your mark on American pop music.
What I find interesting about some of the performances from this concert is the listener can feel the power in her voice although one doesn't necessarily think of that aspect when reflecting on Karen's voice. Usually the words like beautiful, emotional, smooth and crystalline come to mind.
The Carpenters recorded so many great songs but I think that this song is my favorite by them. This song like most of there other songs have aged very well.
An absolutely tragic loss not only to the music world but to all that loved her. Think twice before criticizing some one for their weight or any part of their appearance. Thoughtless comments bring pain, misery and sometimes death.

I can't listen to beautiful Karen without getting a lump in my throat. What a voice, I had such a crush on her. Such a loss.
To think that such a wonderfully clever song sung with such tenderness could top the charts .It seems they really had taste in those days
You are so much right!!
So effortless, so talented, so missed.

I remember hearing her sing when I was very young in early 1970's, I felt there was something very special about her voice then and I still do now
