  • Full walkaround, underhood and inside with running commentary of this first year 1986 Jeep Comanche 4x4 (MJ model code) that was for some reason sent to the junkyard. Now reincarnated as the Gladiator, the 1980s Comanche was Jeep's most recent pickup truck with a lot to like. The first year versions are a little different from the later ones so come and watch to learn all about it. It was a windy day at the junkyard so please excuse a little wind noise in the background... Subscribe and like to see more videos like this of cars, trucks, vans etc from all brands and all countries!

I know a lot of yards won’t allow you to buy an entire vehicle but that’s one worth fixing up. Otherwise there are a lot of good parts sitting there; tailgate, taillights, rear bumper, column shifter, seats in nice shape…they only made that blue interior a couple years.

They actually did sell this one as a parts car (no title). I was surprised to see it gone so I asked. They'll do so occasionally (it depends on the yard, this one is a major nationwide chain). I think it's less likely to end up as a parts car and more likely that it got hitched to the back of another truck and made the trek south to the border.

Damn someone should save this car

Someone actually did. The yard sold it (without title) as several pieces a few days after this video, not sure if it was actually taken apart. Supposedly it was to serve as a parts vehicle for a build. More likely I can see the other car serving as a VIN donor for this one...

That thing was gone within 2 weeks

It was, perhaps closer to one week. I saw it the day it landed there and it was gone soon thereafter. When asked they said they sold it as several parts for the books (but no title and not actually in pieces) to one party that was planning to use it as a parts car. I'm guessing it's more likely that it went to Mexico or maybe will be used as an off-road build although the long bed doesn't make that the best option.

@@jimmythejunkyarddawg yeah when I asked I think the person said it was on lot for like 11 days I think the guy was going to make a trail rig out of it from what I heard the bed was gone and most of the interior before the dude bought it

Oh, interesting, yeah the interior was basic but in great shape, not surprised it was gone. I think I'd rather have a 4.0 than the GM 2.8 but the engine certainly didn't look in bad shape either. Most Comanches I see around (not many) seem to have a fair bit of rust, this one was clean though...
