I always get their hash brown casserole as my side dish. If my entrée calls for having two sides, sometimes I get two helpings of the potatoes. I love them. This might also be good with some diced up cooked ham.
I make a similar potato casserole, that calls for the O'brien style frozen hashbrowns. They are little cubed potatoes with onion, red and green peppers. Delicious!

Made it for years. Sometimes, I have added either sausage or chopped cooked bacon to mine. I am retired, but where I worked my co-workers would fight over this when I brought it in. Your videos are simple to make and your instructions are great. Thanks for sharing them.

You should try it! Thanks again for all the terrific recipes. They are not only delicious but also easy, affordable, and family friendly.
My “go to” side at Cracker Barrel are the Pinto Beans - love them! When I make these hash brown potatoes I usually pair them with some sliced sausage fried up in a skillet or maybe even a ham steak. This makes for a fairly quick dinner that you can throw together on a busy day but still tastes like you slaved away all day in the kitchen for your family…….😂

You should do it with out the cream of whatever and when it's done add sausage gravy omg that's amazing like that. I love to cook and try new things. This is definitely one I will be making, looks so yummy 🙂
Hash brown casserole from Cracker Barrel is my favorite side dish of theirs. I love their Old Timers breakfast with their hash brown casserole. So yummy. This is a must for my Christmas brunch every year. Good choice of a video for us today. ❤

I make a similar dish, but mine is for a 13×9, and that is a bit much, so I appreciate your recipe for a smaller size. I also love the idea of the cream of celery soup! That would give it so much more taste than cream of chicken. I love those spiced apples slices they have at Cracker Barrel. Yummy! Thank you!😊
I'll definitely try this one as is. I also make 1 similar, but add some cream cheese and some drained sauerkraut into the mixture, and the last 10 minutes top with pre-fried kielbasa rounds with a little more shredded cheese. I call it Pierogi Pie.

I haven't had a bad side dish yet at Cracker Barrel. We had take home Cracker Barrel for Thanksgiving this year. I would have to make lactose free or vegan hash brown casserole now though. I loved using cheddar cheese soup in my hash brown casserole the last time I made it years ago. Thank you for this amazing recipe video!

We love Cracker Barrel so much! Definitely will be trying this recipe! We live about 45 minutes away from the nearest Cracker Barrel restaurant so to have any one of their recipes to make at home is a blessing! I love their grilled chicken tenderloins and their cornbread and chicken & dumplings. I have many other favorites from there also... Oh heck... might as well just say I love it all lol! Their Mac n cheese is AMAZING also! 🤣🤣🤣 I wouldn't mind seeing you do copycat recipes for everything on their menu lol! Something that might taste pretty good in this recipe would be either shredded chicken or diced ham either one. Then it could become a main meal dish. Just a thought.
I’ve been making this recipe for years. If you would like an alternative recipe , try using O’Brien potatoes and sub french onion dip for the sour cream…it’s fantastic!
I'm making this now. I found cream of bacon soup, so will be subbing with that; I can't wait to try! Plus, I added a pound of the sage jimmy dean sausage...yuuum! I used the Idaho Spuds freeze-dried hashbrowns (in the small 6-pack cartons) from Costco; you'll need two of those little cartons, if that's what you'd like to use.
How was it with the cream of bacon soup? I have a can I need to use but haven’t been able to find anything that calls for it. I’m glad you mentioned using the small cartons of hashbrowns, too. I have several of those that need to be eaten sooner than later.
This looks absolutely wonderful. My stomach is growling while I'm watching this video of the hash brown casserole! I've already tried your meatloaf copycat and it was heavenly! Now I have to try this.

It makes a difference in the taste and quality of the dish. I love Hashbrown Casserole and I like mine crispy, I slightly cook them, after sauteeing the onion , before assembling . I think the " cream of whatever " soups work best, but I'm not too sure about using cheddar cheese soup. Lol. ( might be too much " cheese ") I read where Crackerbarrel may be closing some locations, which is a bit saddening. I also add chopped scallions to mine, at times, depending if I have them on hand. I also use the non stick foil if I have it on hand, if not I do what you did, I just spray non stick cooking spray on regular foil . Have a great Weekend! 🙂😊🍽

Chefy tip, add your liquids, spices and cheese first, mix well, then add the potatoes.
One of our favorites, I like to add a package of diced ham to make it more of a complete meal and maybe a little green pepper as a vegetable
