    This is just a first look review, unfortunately the weather was not bad enough on this occasion so I will follow up with a Rain Test video.

    I've had something similar I've been carting around on trips for about the last 45 years - unbranded - but posibly an Oxford original pair as only the cuff fastenings and the new higher tech material looks to have changed😆 After battling up the westcoast of France in storm Ciara in 2019 ⛈on a naked bike I do find putting gloves and overmits inside the jacket sleeve rather than over it keeps the wet out more effectively over a longer period as a real soaking leads to water running down the jacket arm and pooling in the overmitt otherwise. More of an effort to get on and off but keeping dry warm hands for longer is worth it imho. I've not seen a 'necker' like that or to be worn 'outside' like that before👍 . I did have a neoprean type ring thing that went around the bottom of the helmet years ago and while effective at wind noise reduction and stopping water ingress into the helment from below it channelled water into the neck of the jacket which this one would seem not to. It will be interesting to see how effective it is over hours heavy rain. Top work and thank you.

      Thanks Mark, looking forward to having access to the over mitts when travelling..it’s definitely going to make a difference as you’ve demonstrated over years of use. Good point about the sleeves and with my summer thinner gloves would actually work! Yes, the Storm Guard collar looks most interesting and to be honest both mitts and collar pack away small and are very light so easy to carry… first time ever I’ve wanted heavy rain and guess what it just won’t at the moment 😂 I’ll post once I do and let’s see how it works, thanks for watching and contributing 👍🏻

    Would have liked to have seen you to put on the other mitt as I found it awkward trying to put on the second one on due to not having a good enough grip, no fingers to pull it over.

      I see what you mean. What I do is put the mitt on the glove, then take that glove off (with the mitt still on it), then I do the other hand.

    I see that the Storm Collar comes in three sizes, but Oxford doesn't appear to give any guidance as to size selection. Do you have any advice to offer on that based on the 2xl/3xl example you show here?

    • @thecampingbiker791
      @thecampingbiker791  6 месяцев назад +1

      I’m 5’9” 82kg 39.5cm collar, usually a medium shirt size and the 2xl/3xl fits perfectly for me with plenty of room and I think would easily fit someone with thicker neck and bigger body! I think I could have fitted into a L/LXL as they are very flexible and stretchy but like a little space so happy with this one.

    What size storm collar did you choose please? I was going to order one but there's 3 sizes.

    I like those oxford pros but I went for the spada overmitts almost 3x cheaper. Also handlebar mitts help massively at cutting out the cold but I'm not having much luck finding one big enough not to obstruct handlebar buttons.

      @@thecampingbiker791 Haha I really hate heavy rain riding. I've got a thin packable waterproof over jacket in my top box ready and also handy as extra insulation for cold rides.

      @@GeordiLaForgery me too, water dripping down the back of my jacket is not fun…still not had enough heavy rain to test it yet and it rains a lot here at this time of year 😂 I did think about handlebar mitts but slightly awkward with having Barkbusters, which do help a bit.

      @@thecampingbiker791 I've seen a US company called HippoHands make a nice bar mitt, big enough to go over the hand guards but they're around £150. I'm trying to make do with Ghostbikes Black Digit, they make it over my plastic handguards but it's still difficult and tight to access indicators/horn etc. I'm planning to make them bigger using some waterproof fabric.
