Sam is the heart of the team. She's the only one who noticed what was happening to Axel behind the scenes and tried to help him, she did absolutely the right thing. It's just really telling about Axel's upbringing that he latched onto her so quickly, poor guy must not have been shown much kindness in his life. Crazy how the writers are so good at writing good characters that they can introduce and make you care about a new character so fast so late in the series.
