Awesome Video. Thanks for sharing your settings. Changed to "Electronic Shutter" and your AF-C settings. I am using my X-M5 with the same Small Rig setup and it now weighs around the same as an X-T50. In that sense, the X-M5 now lost its compactness advantage over the X-T50. Were you ever tempted to upgrade to the X-T50 which has 40MP, IBIS, EVF, Better Resolution Display, better ergos and Built-In flash?
@@herokme the x100vi is on my mind too. The X-T50 has no waitlist. :) My only experience with x100vi was at the Fuji Store. The recent firmware 1.20 update seems to have brought the AF performance similar to that of the X-M5. I tried the X100 at the Fujifilm Store a couple of days and I can confirm that the AF has improved.
i think i’d be able to get the x100vi quickly from my local camera store, so i’m not worried about that. i’m definitely missing the evf and better ergos with the x100vi. still not sure if i’ll miss being able to change lenses though. on one hand, i like the versatility. on the other hand, not being able to change lenses means i can just grab the camera to go and not have to overthink about what lens to use. with the xm5, sometimes i even bring two lenses just to have in case, which makes my everyday setup just a bit bigger
@@herokme I actually went x100V -> x-m5 as I wanted small camera with interchangeable lenses and to get into video. So far I love it although the amount of times I have gone to look through the non-existent OVF is crazy though lol!
Tq for sharing. But i have an issue while recording video using simulation/video/vlog, using internal & external mic, after transfer to phone/laptop, the video is mute. Can you help me about this? Thank you.
Pretty much close to the setup I have. I noticed if on iPhone the transfer image while camera is offline doesn’t quite work due to the prompt you need to confirm and it doesn’t allow you to select only the recent un-imported photos, so I went the usb route which is faster. Thanks for sharing
hmm. i’m on iphone and the transfer while offline has worked for me every single time, and i can access everything on the sd card. i thought about using the usb route which would be faster but wirelessly just lets me carry one less thing
I did change it from only when app is opened to do background process, that didn’t work. It’s ok, the wireless transfer when you’re waiting is quite slow compared to the rate the usb can provide. Still it’s a great feature when it works.
Thank you i was waiting for it ! (I just got a question for the part of the shutter type i ddnt understand what you sayed about the things to watch out for at 7:15 when using the es shutter)
when using the electronic shutter, you might get banding in artificial lighting (it basically shows up like black bars over your image) because the frequency of the lights don’t match the readout speed of the shutter. if that happens, use mechanical shutter and that will eliminate the banding
when choosing the resolution and aspect ratio of the video, some of them say specifically that “shutter speed can’t be lower than frame rate”. seems like you need to choose one of the other frame rates that let you lower shutter speed more than the frame rate
i definitely WOULDNT recommend the kit lens, i think there’s a lot better lenses out there. i’ve been using the ttartisan 27mm f2.8 and viltrox 35mm f1.7 a lot, and those perform way better. if you wanted a zoom lens, i would still rather pay a bit more and get a better zoom lens
@ okay I have been looking at those as well. I really like landscape photography and just every day life of that makes sense haha. So maybe the 35? I do love the compact feel as well. Also love your page I just found it yesterday!
a 35 will be more like a 50, which may not be wide enough for landscape. a 27 (similar to 40) would probably fit everyday shooting and landscape better, although you still might find that it’s not wide enough for landscapes thanks for dropping by the channel as well! 🙏🏻
Just got mine today and was able to easily set up my camera so thank you soooo much 🙏🏻🖤
glad to hear that it helped! 🔥
Good stuff, bro. I'm going to have to steal some of these settings. Good call on keeping the shutter count low by switching to electronic shutter 👌🏿
haha feel free, glad it was useful! thanks for the support as well 🙏🏻🙏🏻
Thank you so much! I’m still waiting for my pre-ordered unit and I can’t wait to apply these helpful settings/tips 💛
hope it’s helpful when you set it up! enjoy the camera when it arrives!
Wow, this was a Hugh help. Thanks new sub!
so glad to hear that! thanks for the support!
Thank you! This is such a great video. Please make one for film Simulations and how we can make use of existing and custom FS
coming soon!
Can you crop images to take pictures in 9:16 with the camera horizontally?
not in camera
@ thanks for the reply! Do you know if the camera has aspect ratio markers?
Im getting this new camera, this video is so useful!
glad it helped! 🔥
Thank you😊

sick to hear! i’ve actually been thinking of getting the x100vi instead. any experience with that?

@Scotch_and_Sew HAHA i feel the same with looking into the non existent evf 😂😂
Great video made!
thanks a ton! 🙏🏻
Thanks for this tips. Keep up the great content! 🤙🏾🇨🇦
thanks for the support! 🙏🏻
thank you so much! definitely the best camera setting how to video for xm5!
so glad to hear that! 🔥🔥
As a rookie I really appreciate the info you share. Any recommendations on a lens for car photography and videography?
glad it’s helpful! for cars, i like a 35mm and 85mm combo (~23mm and ~56mm equivalent for crop cameras), or a 24-70 (~16-50 equivalent for crop)

how are you transferring it? if it plays with audio in camera, sounds like you’re messing it up on the transfer
Thanks so much for this! Is that a grip on your camera? What is it and where can I get one? :)
it is! check out this video here!

i’ll add that to the list!

That’s interesting. Must be some privacy stuffs I haven’t fully opened on the Fuji app.
hmm possibly. maybe you accidentally filtered out some photos in the app?

Where is the digital tele-convert ?
Where can I find that l-shape mount plate
smallrig! i have a whole video on accessories for the xm5!
@ yeah just saw it thanks!
Thanks a lot!!!
you got it! 🔥
Brilliant!

I cannot change my movie mode on vlog setting🤧
should just be on the first page of the menus. what can’t you change
How to do slow shutter for video?
i haven’t done it yet, but i believe you need to be in a low enough frame rate to do it
I've been fidling around and couldn't find the right settings. Appreciate if someone could find out how.

nice man, thanks :)
hope it was helpful!
can it be used as a webcam ?
you need to use the fujifilm x webcam software, or a capture card
@@herokme have you checked using the software for the xm5 as webcamera coz it is never mentioned in the website for this camera?
i haven’t, but the xm5 does have a usb setting for webcam, which i believe works with that software
As a beginner would you recommend the kit lens that comes with the camera or a different one like a pancake? Just curious
