I grew up on long Island and there was a handball wall at every park I use to play everyday after school then everyday after work it's such a great sport and miss every secound of it...
It's a competitive sport in the southwest of france check out "pelote basque" or "cesta punta" it's played with a kind of baseball that you hit with your bare hand or catch with a basket. These guys would be very good at it.
The crazy thing about this sport is that in the UK traditionally this sport (or variations on it) is played largely at private schools. Makes so much sense for more people to play - all your need is gloves, a ball and a wall!
I'm a relatively good runner mile at 5:30 and I play handball nearly every school day and my heart rate peaks about 10 beats higher in handball than running its fr crazy

Well, Timbo has a right to protest if he doesn't wanna smell cigarettes during the game, but he needed to say it in a more professional manner. Actually, he shouldn't have to deal with that, it's the refs job to monitor the crowd. Maybe the heads of all these tournaments need to sit down and figure out how to take this game to another level.
Tywan definitely deserves all the accolades,tremendous athlete,Timbo had an awesome tourney also,both guy’s are alongside Tavo in the big three of the sport,Tywan is the champ no question.
Great game! Awesome play by both of them. I’m curious though, why are one wall tournaments almost always one game to 25? Is it just for time so they can complete an entire event in one day? It would be nice to see the same format as 4 wall, best of 3 games, 21, 21, 11 point tie breaker. Tennis matches last for two hours or more, four wall matches can top 90 minutes as well. These games go by so quick and I’m not sure it’s enough play to really determine who is the better player on a given day. Not taking anything away from Tywan at all, and not saying Timbo would win a longer contest. Just makes the athletes dig a bit deeper when they’re both at or near the same level I think, and gives the spectators a bit more entertainment. More time for those ads too since a lot of people are trying to figure out how to make handball more main stream (and profitable).
Back when I played if you 7-0 someone game is over. If your match point, and opponent has 14+ points, the opponent has the option the “push”, making the game first to 25 to win.

I picked Tywan to beat Tavo in the Final, the Fact that he's not here in part, speaks to the fact that Tavo still has challenges with tapping into the killer instinct inside of him when he needs it the most. You have to secretly want to bury your opponent. Timbo beat Tavo in their semi final game because Timbo was mentally stronger. I have commented in the past that Tavo expends to much energy on his low serve, he'd be better improving his over hand serve placements and use the energy he expends using that low serve for points later in the game.
or just that timbo is that naturally talented at handball that he can still pull off finals constantly and even beat Tywan last summer at an opens while being out of shape. Tavo still has a mental block over Timbo whereas Tywan doesn't, for sure though. Timbo has close to no losses against these guys when he was in shape and was winning everything without any real competition. Only person who is beating that version of Timbo is Rookie
I can agree with the killer instinct assessment. Tavo does play a very safe and defensive style of handball. When someone can challenge that defense like Kadeem with his lengthy limbs, Timbo always putting offensive pressure, or even Wally giving him a hard time with the old school serve and finish style...Tavo ends up buckling eventually. As far as Tavo and energy, his low fist serve probably consumes little energy since fisting is like adding roids to a serve. Tavo's game is built around the rallies and being defense/safe oriented to let his opponents make unforced errors or set ups he can take advantage of. Tavo seems to enjoy the drawn out games and always seems to be on point in the cardio department.
@@Nightmaresins I've used that serve and remember that it does wear you out over a long tourney. Never used it exclusivly because it was too much work. That serve is a small ball serve. Timbo uses an efficient serve and he focuses on ending the point quickly. You're correct, Tavo is looking to exchange rallies and hit a pretty killshot with his left.

With gloves, you're able to spin the ball MUUUCH more, as you have fabric or material to SPIN off of, instead of skin. Skin spins very well, too. But, gloves are optimal. I've never used it back when I used to play though. I was a Low C to High D player.

Hitting the ground first is a different form of this game called Chinese handball. In this game, it's just part of the rules to take it off the air or bounce once.
Shit, this used to be the game we all played at lunch and recess in middle school. All of us kids, scrambling and running to secure a wall space to play. I got really good at it too. Now I’d prolly be smoked easily, but those were the days. Especially watching the big guns (older kids) playing at Kelly Park!
The softer big blue ball. There's no skill advantages when you use gloves. It helps prevent the ball from skipping and prevents cuts from forming for some people.
Love this sport and always will but the attitudes from players to fans to refs needs to change if this game is going to get any real growth, elevation, and deserved respect in the US.
You can intentionally do that like hitting the ball in front of/close to yourself and standing your ground. Or hitting a passing shot and using your body to block them out if they're to the side. You just can't move into them while they're going for a shot or chasing for that ball.

It’s not easy to hit those kills though. It requires a lot of skill. That’s like saying in basketball, all you need to do is hit a half court shot every time you get a rebound. Yeah, it’s possible, but it’s really really difficult to do.
There's a line just out of view of the camera. If the ball is served on or past it, it's a long ball and the server has 1 more try to serve the ball within the court. After the next rally, it resets so you get 2 more tries again. The ref at this point didn't call it loud enough so there was some confusion.
There was like 3 calls that should have went to timbo….. personally wouldn’t play if cameras and walls ain’t right. Amazing game tho. I wouldn’t even ask if it hit the line,just rewind and let me see

Hands don’t bruise as much. That ball hurts. Advantage with no gloves is to get a better feel on your shots. It’s a balance for sure.

There's a line just out of view of the camera. If the ball is served on or past it, it's a long ball and the server has 1 more try to serve the ball within the court. After the next rally, it resets so you get 2 more tries again.
The ref at this point didn't call it loud enough so there was some confusion.
