I think it should be “What kind of journalism do we want in UFC and can you guys have better communication at UFC please??🤣” With that being said…my brother in law used to work for Dana White and the whole “he’s squeezing out people who aren’t yes men” is correct. I use to work for MMAJunkie back in the day, Ariel should have known that rocking the boat was a road leading to know where. Gina Corano literally made Ariel when he was first starting out.
Ariel did not "expose" anything. Leaking the Lesnar return 2 hours before it was meant to be announced was utterly stupid and unnecessary. It was just greedy.

great video, but i fundamentally disagree with your conclusion. i'm not exactly sure how the 200 spoiler even still defines his career in your eyes. i was around for it, and it's not even in the top 5 things i think of when i hear ariel's name. ariel and the entire team they have over at uncrowned are doing mma journalism right. his interviews are top notch. he gets so much more out of fighters than anyone else even bothers trying to. sure, he has certain tendencies at times, but that hardly negates the other 99% of actual journalism he's doing.
This video is somewhat biased toward the ufc tbh but i can see why considering ariel is controversial. His journalistic integrity though is easily his most respectable characteristic. People seem to think journalism is publishing world breaking stories of corruption. In reality, interviewing and archiving a players history is part of journalism. Breaking stories about fighters signing to this company or that brand is journalism. At the end of the day though, ariel played with dana's money and if dana isint willing to break the bank for even his most popular fighters you can imagine what he feels like about a journalist. Dana is a rat btw. He will despise journalists but use them as pawns to break up unions or movements yhat will force him to pay the fighters more. Dudes the real villan
Helwani clearly dropped the ball on that Brock Lesner announcement. What was he expecting when it comes to Dana White's reaction to what he did? Did he think that Dana White would be happy about that? Of course Dana would be furious .
It’s within his rights as a reporter covering MMA news, as a journalist, to release stories about the UFC. Reporters covering the NFL regularly break stories about trades and coaching changes. It’s wrong to punish reporters by removing their press credentials simply because you’re upset they broke a news story before a press release.

If you really dislike Helwani you probably just dont consume his content, which is fine, but if you did you'd realise its not just hot takes. The vast majority of it is the best access we have to fighters. His interviews are by far the most enlightening because as a trained journalist he knows how to structure an interview. Its also no coincidence that the people with issues with Ariel are mostly known to be awful people. Dana and Jones dont like it when he talks about them beating their wives, is that the team you want to be on? How about his recent beefs with Hill and Buckley, two dudes with half a brain cell between them or best of all why do you think all Abdelaziz fighters are banned from the show? All the good guys in the sport like DC, Chael or DJ all supported Ariel and he's come a long way from instigating and "spoiling" 200 which I do think was more of a tabloid journalism approach to grab headlines.
People just make up reasons to not like him or are anti-semetic...there's a reason most fighters go on his show EVEN THO Dana hates him...call him names like 5th graders.
What does personal life have to do with the fights? Ariel is a snake and a weasel. Rampage wanted to knock him out 15 years ago and we all know why. Keep the interviews about the fights not who they are in the real world. Prize Fighter are paid to fight not be role models.

@ I know I’ve been following for Years and it’s evident to see where Ariel is Leaning towards in regards to “Boxing” and the Dana reference Totally Unrelated.
The truth is Lorenzo Fertitta had Aerial fired from FOX Sports 3 months after a Roy McDonald interview on the MMA Hour. McDonald expressed frustration with his UFC contract and Lorenzo wasn’t going to allow Aerial to stain the UFC image. Lorenzo wanted Aerial separate from the company and Dana became the spokesperson for it. The fact everyone believes it was the Brock Lesnar incident where the relationship soured goes to show how good Lorenzo and Dana were at writing the script. It has happened to Tito, Cyborg, Francis the list goes on. Even with the company selling the same practices continue with Dana.
The fact is, Zuffa was paying Ariel to appear on Fox Sports. Ariel was essentially his employee. And Ariel is an unethical scumbag for not revealing that.
Spoiling that Brock Lesnar reveal was straight up wrong. As Rogan stated "It was going to be released anyway." But Ariel doesn't care. I bet If Ariel was around in the 80's he would have ruined Star Wars for everyone by "reporting" that Vader is Luke's father.
Ariel Helwani’s ban from UFC events is a textbook example of shooting the messenger rather than addressing the underlying issue. His career, built on integrity and years of dedication to MMA reporting, predates the UFC’s rise as a global sports entity. By banning him, the UFC essentially punished him for doing his job well-reporting accurate and timely news, often ahead of the company’s own announcements. The UFC’s decision also highlights a deeper issue: their inability or unwillingness to address internal leaks. Instead of focusing on improving their organizational processes, they opted for a high-profile, reactionary move that inevitably drew criticism and amplified Helwani’s profile as a trusted journalist. Will the ban stop Helwani? Not a chance. His career thrives on the strength of his network, his reputation for authenticity, and his commitment to the sport. The UFC’s actions may have temporarily restricted his physical presence at events, but they won’t silence him or diminish his influence. If anything, the ban only bolsters his status as an independent voice in MMA, unafraid to challenge the powers that be. Ultimately, this move does more harm to the UFC’s image than to Helwani’s. It paints the organization as vindictive and unwilling to face criticism, while Helwani’s continued ability to break major stories will reinforce his indispensable role in MMA reporting. Instead of suppressing him, they’ve unintentionally underscored his importance to the sport.
getting "scoops" and informing everyone first is the very definition of being a journalist. The only question is whether or not you like that kind of ruthless journalism. The answer says a lot more about you as a person than about the journalist who is doing their job. Drink that in
Just TODAY at Tyson x Paul press conference!! He FORCED the entire panel of boxers one by one, to pick the main event. 💀 Jake was angry!! Very inappropriate Helwani rat 🐀
Holy shit yall are snowflakes. Making a prediction on a sporting event that you're at, the HORROR! They should pay me to be their PR person because I have the most 200 IQ answer to this question. "That's a tough question to answer, list good qualities about jake, list good qualities about Tyson, then say either of them can win if they show up and do what they know they can do, whoever shows up the night of the fight will win, but expect a great fight!" Or you can simply say "IDK, I get paid to fight, I'm not a fight analyst" I know, I know, I'm what a mind blowing response! Hold your applause. In all seriousness you can say whatever you want. If you say something you regretted then blaming Ariel is nothing but an excuse.
Nah he’s a dirtbag. He’ll twist a fighters words ever so slightly trying to sneak putting words in their mouth while pretending to play innocent. Nothing special about the journalism he does today. Maybe you could consider him decent in the beginning but he’s an antagonist these days.
He is a detriment to the sport. He is constantly starting beef between fighters and the organizations they fight for. It is not his job to project his beliefs on to fighters but he tries to do so in most interviews. All my homies hate helwani, for good reason. He gets what he deserves.
This sheds a lot of light on why Dana White and Donald Trump are such good buddies. Surround yourself with yes men and ban anyone that challenges you. It wasn’t a surprise to anyone that the UFC was screwing fighters on pay. Would things not have changed if Ariel not been so outspoken?
Ariel is the definition of a keyboard warrior. And telling confidential inside information as breaking news is something that will get you fired. F around and find out.
if you like the truth, you should support Helwani. If you idolize a fighter and they don't like Helwani, you don't care about the truth you care about feelings. Fighters, the UFC, and media all have reasons not to like Helwani because they have a reason to suppress certain truths. If you think Helwani is a weasel as others have called him, then you're just echoing things you've heard that originate from either a fighter, the UFC, or other media. 06:31 that's a conclusion based on a biased premise. It's funny how people forget how the UFC was struggling for years to become what it is now. If it's so easy to create a promotion then why didn't Helwani do it. What about all the fighters who just have to show up and fight and not worry about anything else
You're justifying Dana greed like your his lawyer 😂 UFC paying their fighters about 5% of their profit. Boxing promotions pay 30-40 % But there are many equally strong boxing promotions and UFC is a monopoly and is using it against fighters. They could easily pay many times more and still generate gigantic profit. It's extremely low percentage not only in fighting sports. NBA and other professional leagues also pay about 40% to their players. Fighters need unions.
@pio7763 The UFC has expenses and employees to pay. People who go on about fighter pay act like there are no other things the UFC has to pay to run a business and be profitable. Fighters are paid based on what they bring in for the promotion. Anyways i really don't understand why fans care what fighters make. You think fighters care what the average American makes at their job
@@jvanek8512 like talking to the wall . Really UFC have big costs who would think 🤣. And you know what we call money after paying costs profit. And they have billions of profit every year. @@pio7763 like I said if doing a promotion is so easy then why dont fighters or Helwani do it themselves. Fighters only know how to fight. They have no understanding of how to run a business. Similar with Helwani. He talks for a living. He knows nothing about business or economics.
@@jvanek8512 do you know how monopoly work? UFC bought other MMA organisations just to close them. They also offer contracts that are difficult to quit and have lot of shady practices. But if you want to support Dana you will always find some arguments.

I agree with paddy on ariel. What a lot of fighters need to do is be paid for their time. Yes they get paid to fight. Some fer paid for the press conferences. But if you get interviewed you should be paid or given a percentage of the video revenue. As without them most of ariels success would have never happened. Its greedy. So i do commend paddy for calling him out on that from a fighter's perspective
When the name Ariel Helwani gets mentioned and we see the fallout from the UFC 199, the clearer it becomes a lot of people don't really understand what a journalist is. Joe Rogan and others saying how it wasn't this huge cover up and that it didn't need to be scooped, that's just one type of journalism, investigative. That's not what most journalists do. They report news and sometimes offer opinions. There's also a flaw in the way you categorize the people who report on MMA as journalists and content creators. I think you should add Social media influencer to that list. Journalists create content, that's what editorials and opinion pieces exist. Ariel falls into both journalist and content creator. He reports on news but also provides entertainment. Some journalists aren't comfortable behind a mic or in front of a camera, some are. Some content creators don't have journalist degrees and are only going to report on what other people report. Ariel got a scoop and decided to report on it, as is his right. Dana and the UFC overreacted to what was a rumor at the time which I am willing to bet most people didn't pay that much attention to at the time and based on the live crowd reaction when that Brock promo aired, UFC got the reaction they wanted. It's not the media's job to glaze the UFC, as long as they don't spread false information and present it as fact, and when it's a rumor as inconsequential as this. If Dana and the UFC were mad their announcement was leaked, they should have focused on the person who leaked it and done a better job at keeping things secret.
@andresg297 ño. Press conferences should be open to all accredited news organizations who wish to attend, otherwise it's not a press conference it's a simp fest
i mean, as it was ariel right as a journalist to report on info he finds out, it's ufc's right to push himm away from the org and events to try and prevent leaks, a journalist doing his job and a company protecting it's interests, it's really not that big of a deal
@skitzany8901 no. That's not how it works in real sports. Think the NFL would ban reporters because they don't like a story they wrote? There would be an uproar. They don't have to give him special access, but he should be allowed the same privileges as any other credentialed media member who doesn't work for the UFC or it's partners
04:53 journalism is an activity. You don't need a fancy degree or a corporate job to do journalism and on Nash. He's doing journalism, but he's also an activist. He was clearly biased when reporting on the UFC antitrust lawsuit
UFC was 100 percent in the right for banning Ariel for what he did. If he’s a real journalist, he should be able to work independently without the ufc’s help.

He broke the Brock Lesnar story and I think the consequences shouldn’t be looked at as “is it fair”. I think it should be “What kind of journalism do we want in UFC and can you guys have better communication at UFC please??🤣”
With that being said…my brother in law used to work for Dana White and the whole “he’s squeezing out people who aren’t yes men” is correct. Dana White doesn’t even really get mad, you’re just nothing to him if you disagree/don’t do what he wants.
I hope Helwani one day step farther away from UFC and investigate from the outside. I know a lot is give and take but one day I’d love to see a thorough investigation cus just from the Dana stories I’ve heard, I can’t imagine what it’s like for the fighters.

leaking events is like telling everybody the ending of a movie so yes that's a valid reason to not want him part of your organization.
So you're not right if he revealed how the match will turn out Yes, it's the same But if he says something that will happen sometime somewhere, that's the same as saying that the movie is coming out in a month It's exactly the same he doesn't say how the match will turn out but when something happen

Good video mate. Hope your channel pops
Seeing MMA Joey in this video is great. I recently started watching his videos and he’s definitely one of my favorite MMA RUclipsrs.
I use to work for MMAJunkie back in the day, Ariel should have known that rocking the boat was a road leading to know where. I remember when Dana went off on Loretta Hunt back in the day and basically had her black balled and run out of the business after he went on a tirade calling her every name in the book and Loretta was the Ariel before Ariel. Gina Corano literally made Ariel when he was first starting out.
Ariel did not "expose" anything.
Leaking the Lesnar return 2 hours before it was meant to be announced was utterly stupid and unnecessary. It was just greedy.
Ariel is a weasel and a snake. He became an outcast in the MMA community. Now he is trying to weasel his way into boxing.
MMA and the UFC does not have sports reporting like any other major sport in the US. Ariel, whether you like him or not, is one of the few actual journalists in the space
He also has good knowledge and culture of mma and even kickboxing for K1 era (golfen age , knows about pride fc , dream , strikeforce , pancrase etc… old stuff (cause he is long time before mma became mainstream.
Nina for example is fun personality and entertaining videos but dont have critical and rigorous thinking . She doesnt have the knowledge and culture in mma (even less in kickboxing) only recent ufc (casual mainstream knwoledge ) not great analysis .
It’s more marketing and communication to promote fighters like in mainstream politics .
It’s good to have fun but we need people like him
Also i dont see a lot of karin bryant what she doing she is great .
@stephenevilboythompsonthed9711 shoutout to Laura Sanko! Doing commentary now but she was a great analyst pre commentary. Unfortunately, Dana does not want real journalism around the sport cause everyone knows it would hurt the value
What did he expose? Let me tell u, he exposed several different fights that they were gonna EXPOSE theirselves. He did it like they were hiding these fights, like they needed to be scooped. He did it for himself.
So the UFC can treat fighters like shit with no criticism and gain billions of dollars but Ariel does the same thing and you’re mad? Seems like you just don’t have game

Good vid. Oreo Desani is a good reporter/interviewer, but he’s also a weasel who likes to be the victim.
great video, but i fundamentally disagree with your conclusion. i'm not exactly sure how the 200 spoiler even still defines his career in your eyes. i was around for it, and it's not even in the top 5 things i think of when i hear ariel's name.
ariel and the entire team they have over at uncrowned are doing mma journalism right. his interviews are top notch. he gets so much more out of fighters than anyone else even bothers trying to. sure, he has certain tendencies at times, but that hardly negates the other 99% of actual journalism he's doing.
You can’t talk about Helwani’s beginnings without mentioning his interview with Bob Arum.
Could you elaborate please?

Cannot stand this guy. So funny when Dana made him cry like a little girl.
cuz dana has never cried before? lol
Ariel is the only reason so many normal fans still watch the UFC. Without him its just a bunch of crazy guys puffing their chest and shouting. He brings legitimacy to the sport

I only started watching mma this year and it's crazy how one of the most gruesome sports doesn't exactly "cover" it's athletes like they're athletes
Agree with him or not (I don’t) you gotta respect that his sticks to his guns and doesn’t allow anyone to bully him. Good for him
Ariel Helwani’s ban from UFC events is a textbook example of shooting the messenger rather than addressing the underlying issue.

If it's so easy to create a promotion then why didn't Helwani do it. What about all the fighters who just have to show up and fight and not worry about anything else
You're justifying Dana greed like your his lawyer 😂
UFC paying their fighters about 5% of their profit.
Awesome Breakdown, You deserve a Sub.
And is the UFC right to decide who gets invited to press conferences
Buckley has a good point but I think Ariel is important in the space because he does truly care about the fighters.
this, MMW and Napoleon are my favorite mma channels
Being a journalist isn’t dependent upon the types of stories you report to the public. Look at how the less “respectable “ outlets like the Sun or The National Enquirer still use the term journalist when describing their article writers.
