If you'll try any of that JJ/wrestling in a street fight, you'll soon realise that being on the ground, regardless if you're on top or not, is a bad idea, cause you'll get quickly stomped/kicked by a friend of your enemy. Same with overconfidence. I'd say traditional martial arts are far better as a start, cause they tech you more than just moves. Critical thinking, code of honor, some meditation techniques to deal with anxiety, breathing techniques/excercises. That gives a child way more than just combat training, as it developes the brain and ability to somewhat control emotions. How many of the people from a martial arts class will ever compete or become a prize fighter? 1 in 20? 1 in 50? I've been training martial arts for half my live (i'm > 40), from aikido and karate kyokushinkai, to krav-maga and mma. Last time I've done any competition was when i was an early teen, same with any street fights (changing schools/migrating with parents and local bullies always wanted to test the "new guy"). I'd say send the kid to a class that'll teach him wider aray of skills than just combat moves, at least at the start. Way more useful in life than pure fighting skills.

If you're not on your feet, you're an easy target for a 3rd party. That's why you NEVER should hit the ground in a street fight - there's no judge, no cage, really nothing to hold other people. That's like basics of self defence that any self defence class will teach you. Outside of some middleschool scuffles i haven't seen a streetfight that's pure one on one. JJ/wrestling is only good (and imo the best tbf) for controlled environment like tournaments, but makes you really unsafe in a hectic street fight. The ufc is becoming a joke with the bmf belt and whatnot. They shouldn’t have a team of fight makers. CTE is a thing but not like everyone presents it to be. Not everyone gets it. It all depends how tough you are. And how much you train that neck. For example, Thai fighters have over 400 fights each. No CTE.

Even getting knocked out often will not affect someone who is very durable. Also, some fighters who take steroids develop much bigger resistance.

Video could also be shortened. Like why have two different sections about CTE? Just combine the kids CTE and main CTE section could cut down the video by about 10 minutes.
