What you hear are not the brakes. The noise comes from the wheel flanges rubbing against the points because they want to go straight.
This are truck trailers on train and on ships
Not easy as the ferry's buoyancy would have to adjusted as the train sectons embark.
Is there a sudden drop when the ferry leaves the dock?
Why should it? The Linkspan which connect the ferry with the land is lifted before the ferry move.
