- We share an easy broccoli rabe recipe in this 4k video. People are asking me all the time how to make broccoli rabe and how to cook Italian food. I always try to illustrate how easy it is in my videos. Let us know in the comment if this is how to cook broccoli rabe and if you think it’s an easy broccoli rabe recipe! In case you're wondering, alternate correct names for broccoli rabe are "Bitter Broccoli", and "Broccoli Rapini" !
Since I can't find broccoli rabe where I live I figured I'd enjoy watching you cook my favorite italian vegetable! I can smell the garlic.....mmmmm thanks!!
Bobbi Bellardine thanks for watching! Where do you live?
Vincent Carneglia I live in SC, originally from 10th and Moore.
Bobbi Bellardine it’s nice to meet you! My great aunt Caroline has lived at 10th and Moore for as long as I’ve been alive! We’ve definitely bumped in to each other at some point neighbor!!
Vincent Carneglia probably, I still have family there. I went to school St. Nick’s.
Wow 😳 this is the easiest way I’ve ever seen this recipe I looooove broccoli rabe and sausages they taught me to Blanche first it to make it less bitter but since you said it doesn’t matter if you do not Blanche I’m going to try it tonight thank you so very much for your honesty about this recipe since I’m not Italian I will listen to the Italian chef ( Do not blanche) 👍👍👍👍
I never thought about cooking stems first. Thanks!!🙂
I never made broccoli rabe before, but I will starting today. I love my healthy greens.
All that and he can cook too... looks fantastic..
Great video!!
Glad you enjoyed it
I am going to try your way! I've made it before but used a slightly different recipe. Your way sounds really good.
I cooked fresh broccoli rabe for the first time about 2 weeks ago. I basically did what you have shown here but mine was bitter. I’m going to try cutting the stem & separate it from the leaves & flowers to cook first and try it again. Thanks for the info!
Bill C from Jersey
Vince was gonna blanche the BR but you swayed me. Like Red pepper flaked. Luv Broccoli Rabe! Tx.
Delicious
Hey Vincent. My daughters and I loved watching your video. We're making broccoli rabe tonight for Father's Day! We knew you were a hometown Philly boy as soon as we starting watching. We recognized many things in your kitchen that we had also. Can't wait to try your broccoli rabe! We'll let you know how it turns out. I want to try that sausage place you talked about too!
Love your recipe. I love broccoli rabe but never had a good time preparing it. You made it so easy and will now eat more broccoli rabe. I want to go to Philly now and get those sausages!
Made this tonight...was delicious. Thank you for the video.
Thank you just discovered this yummy ness and you just helped me make it for the first time
That garlic is like potato chips, it’s burnt 🥵......
Some people like it that way, I think it has a sharper taste to contrast with the bitter rapini.
Great video thank you! Also, I loled when you poured your olive oil into your pot with that giant box lol
Same lol
1:43 thats the most elegant kitchen faucet i have ever seen!.........i shall name it "Elegant Faucet"
Going to do this for lunch today... No brainer... Well done.
You are an amazing chef, this is my first time watching you and I can assure you it won’t be the last time. Thanks for posting!
Just bought my first bunch of broccoli rabe and wasn't sure what to do with it... thanks, Vincent !
Vince, I showed this video to my husband and he says he is not impressed unless you show us how to cook it using Ryobi tools. :-) I did find this recipe to be the best way to cook broccoli rabe.
🤣 thanks
Easy good cooking, I guess your not on anymore, too bad...oh well watching old vids, thanks Vincent

Thank you for sharing. I'm black, from the Caribbean, and my boyfriend is American Italian, and boy, does he love garlic.
I love your way of cooking broccoli rabe because you don't boil it then pour all the great nutrients down the drain.
I'm cooking 2 huge bunches for him tight now. They are super loaded with garlic and exotic hot peppers.
Roxann D that sounds delicious!!
Great kitchen and thank you for the greens recipes! Can u show how high your flame 🔥 is and how much oil to begin?
Glad to see you use Andy Boy broccoli rabe! Only brand to eat!
Liscios roll, sharp provolone cheese ,MANGIA!
Hi from northeast Philly👋
Well hello neighbor, thanks for watching!
I meant to say 17th and Ritner! HILARIOUS 🤘🤘🤘💪💪💪
The old school motto is the bitter the better no pot boiling or blanching
I made this, think I put too much olive oil but it came out really delish!
Hey Vinny C. Bobby C. Here I been making this dish for years. Today is Wednesday January 17th. I just subscribed two minutes ago to your channel go figure. I wonder what you are up to now adays.
Thanks and welcome
Vince ...we make the Broccoli Rabe the same. I don't know maybe I'm hungry but, I may like the cooking videos more than the tools vids. Anyway loving the food. And oh where's the bread?
corey caiazzo thanks brother, I love the food!!
Thank you for sharing your recipe! To bad I can’t buy the sausages in California
No good butcher shops in California, tell me it isn’t so Lidia!
What do you think about par boiling the rabe before sautéing it?
So glad to see you using all of the broccoli rabe and sauteeing it.
So many others on YT cut off the whole stem and throw it away, then they boil it.
Your way is the way I grew up with. Sautéed with plenty of garlic.
I got 2 from Wal-mart and I don't know how to cook it, hence watching this video. Thanks for sharing. I can smell and taste the rapini through my screen 😁
I’m not even close to being Italian but I looooooove Italian dishes so I’ve learned to make them but this broccoli rabe recipe is the easiest I’ve ever seen someone taught me to blanche it first but your recipe is the bomb and took less time 😱 I’m soooo hungry for some now 😂😂I can eat this 7 days of the week thank you you’re a great chef btw this is my first time watching your channel and definitely not my last I like your simplicity and honesty 💕💕❤️❤️
Just cooked Rapini for the first time. Thank goodness I watched your video first. I will be adding it to my table again.
Love this video. Nothing like an Italian cook! Thee best. I grew my own broccoli rabe this year. Tomorrow I harvest and cook! Where’s the Italian bread? Lol.
Great recipe! Love it with the sausage
Thank you!
I blanch my broccoli rabe for 2 minutes. Then I fry in a pan with garlic for about 3 minutes. Never bitter.
31 mentions of Broccoli Rabe.... Yes I was counting... Great video and presentation.
Man, I really appreciate you keeping it simple. I don't enjoy cooking, but I listened to your greens and beans video and really impressed myself and my husband with what I made. I also didn't hate making it! Super big thanks!
Many years ago, I made a Julia Child recipe with broccoli rabe, sausage and orchietta pasta. And you’re right: people overthink the rapini! Thank you for presenting it in a not-so-intimidating way! My husband brought some home today, and thanks to you, he will have that for dinner tonight!
Thanks so much for taking time to go through all steps. This will be my first time making the dish for Christmas dinner, I’m confident it will be awesome! Happy Holidays!
Good luck, happy holidays and merry new year! Let me know if it turns out well for you, thanks!
Good energy! I made it! Pretty satisfied. I wish I had Parmesan tho
Thanks Mary, I appreciate that!
And I want To try that sausage
I love eating this veggie but never tried cooking it myself. Came upon this vid & enjoyed it very much. I’m gonna follow this recipe bcz it seemed simple enough. I don’t enjoy complicated cooking either. TY!
Oh be my God! Thank you so much! You made rapini just like the way my Italian mom cook it. Ma added it sometimes to pasta. It brought back the aroma of Ma's kitchen. GOD BLESS YOU!!!!!! I will be watching your you tube from now on.♥️🙏
Good job Vincent. Wish I could get the real Italian sausage with fennel but I did buy broccoli rabe and making it for company tomorrow with a Sicilian swordfish recipe. You make it right. Bellissimo.
"raBe"?
Actually in🇮🇹 italian 🇮🇹 is RaPe.
Exately "broccoli di rape".
Excellent! Love your videos, but I’m from Brooklyn where we say “saw-sage”🤣
I was born and raised in Brooklyn too...we called it saw-seege
Great.... why did I have to watch this... at 3 am. I have PLENTY of garlic...but don't have the broccoli... and no stores are 24/7 anymore.
When you said homemade sausage... I thought that you made it yourself.... lol..
So ... I'm hungry now ... but thanks for a recipe to use some of my nearly 40 cloves of garlic... October is coming soon and the next batch will be planted for next year.
Second time watching this video love it and made it a couple times love it !
💜💜😎💜📹🤑🍹HI FAM🙏YUMMY, GOOD-NESS,DELICIOUS✌🙏😎💯🔥🔥
I add cannolini beans to the end of the broccoli cooking for extra creaminess to the dish.
I have never actually made broccoli rabe. Now I must! Thanks Vin
Thank You for watching Kourtney!
Sorry … too complicated .. we just focus on simple way of cooking Broccoli to save the real substance of the Veggie.
That looks great I think I will be doing this recipe also but I think I will cook my sausage first and use the oil from the sausage to salute the rabe. Love that you cook the stems first great video. Keep cooking vince
Thats a great idea Edge! Thanks for watching, we will!!
Helloooooo! No Videos lately, eh Vince? How come you didn’t add sausages to broccoli rabe’? Well , you did add them! Vince, I cringe when you use metal utensils and your enameled pot.
I agree with other commenters that the garlic is too brown. Brown means bitter which some people like, just like those people who like bitter broccoli rabe. Those cooks don’t blanch and they use the stems which increases the bitterness. I am one of those old time Guidos that usually don’t do no stinkin’ blanching! Occasionally, I get a batch of Andy Boy which is a little too bitter for me. But Dude, watch your garlic better!
One thing I do, which is a personal choice, is sprinkle with Parm when done..😋😋😋😋😋
omg, just the way my Nonna did it, was looking for different ways, but who cares, this is the best way, especially with the sausage!
Just the way I cook it (I’m Welsh) - I’m the only one in my family who loves broccoli rabe - I can’t always come across a decent sausage - but I often get fennel seed and grind it up and add it to compensate, it’s also tasty in marinara sauce
I’m going to try it this way. Everyone loves the way I cook mine but it takes me hours. I separate the flowers, cut the stringy parts off the stems, and boil
I thought when you pulled out that box of olive oil was funny. This is the American Italian version that does not exist in Italy. The original version is from Puglia Italy and it is made with orrechiette. No sausage and a garlic clove is added to flavor the oil and then removed, so very little to no garlic is used. Americans use 100 times more garlic than Italians in Italy.
You seem to cook like a good Sicilian or Calabrese boy. You use the Corto EVOO in a box which is an extremely good California oil. And you made me so hungry I wanted to yank that forkful of rapini and sausage right out of your hand. It looked so damn good. I really like the way you cook...such southern Italian flair, all those spicy chilies. Yum yum.
Love you Vincent. Your awesome.
Christ be with you
Vincent, you are awesome man , especially with separating the stem from the leaves & flowers. Just the right way to go ...
I looked this up while choking down this inedible garden weed. Holy cow this stuff is awful.
Loooove Rapini annnnd this video. I'm so happy I came upon it. You did a great job of this. It kept my attention and your delivery, heart warming. I have to tell you though, I do quickly soft boil my rapini (stalks first) before I saute it, only because, I loooove the broth that is rendered so I can dip true bruschetta in it's broth. Rapini is not easily found where I live in Atlantic Canada!! Today, I just happened to go to a grocery store, I rarely go to, glanced around while in the produce section and BOOM …. there was Rapini … $4.99 a bunch. I bought them all!!! $35.00 later, I was a happy Nonna. hahahahhaaa. I called the store when I got home and they have 4 bunches in the cooler that I will pick up and their next order comes in next week. I'm on it! I definitely have to research how to grow rapini in the Maritime climate. Thank you so much for your wonderful video! It truly brightened my day! All the best to you and yours always from the east coast of Canada.
Nonna MacDeah I really appreciate this thoughtful comment!! How did the rapini turn out for you? Dipping with bread is one of my favorite parts!!
@@VincentCarneglia it turned out perfectly. After indulging, I ended up with 4 bags to freeze. I also had it mixed in with orrichetti! ❤🖒❤
Excellent!! Thank you for such an easy recipe and great presentation.
Vin, who taught you how to cook? You’re wife is a lucky, lucky woman. I’m still amazed how meticulous you are about everything. You cook just like I do. 💕

Andy boy is the best and the company is 2 miles away.
Vincent--You bring back many cool memories for me of my cousins (12 of them) from South Jersey. Even though my family lived in New York, visiting them was our "vacation" in the summer and they had the BEST tomatoes on earth. Thanks for your charming and funny and very Italian, way of speaking and thinking. The only thing i didn't hear was the way they pronounced the word "Acme" as in "Ach-a -me" Superrmarket! All the best to you!
Where did you go? Are you still posting?
Vincent, Be Honest…….When Sound Factory closed down, you were Heart Broken !?!?!?!?….🤔
Nah, but I was when Egypt, warehouse, and Shampoo did!
I do the same.. Saute the stems first. Great job.
I wish the camera person would keep the shot more on the food and not the host
you're like the real life Joey Tribbiani
where are your tomatox fresh or petite canned?
