In regards to the weapon cosmetics, you'll need to have them unequipped (from all characters and subclasses) to then apply an illusion. It's one of the crafting tabs. If it's not showing up on your list, you'll need to make sure it's unequipped from each subclass.

Unfortunately, Games Workshop has some pretty strict limitations when it comes to cosmetics of characters, often restricted to colors and accessories featured in the miniatures of the table top games.

if you haven’t figured it out already, it’s Cosmetics, then go all the way to the right (it goes hats, then skins, then portraits)!

So beyond disappointed that helm cosmetics are career locked. There is literally no reason for this, beyond the design team being ignorant of what fans want. I would be willing to bet real money that 100% of all platforms playerbases hate this. Your player portrait shows what career you're using.....you don't need career specific helms.
Guess it doesn't matter too much. There's literally 2 or 3 helms, period, across all careers that I even like. For instance, the Bounty Hunter starter helm is better than all the purchasable ones, including the MTX one (which is the worst of all). Why would you even offer open face helms for BH, beyond the obligatory 1 that's for the weirdos that want to actually see Victors hideous mug. I'd be happy if all careers had closed face helms, personally.
The design team is terrible at designing cosmetics. Literally every other part of this game is friggin dope except for cosmetics.
And having absolutely zero outfit changes, beyond reskins? What is this, the year 2000? I get GW are restrictive AF, but damn.
