    Good ACM details. My Dad also flew from Zamblan airfield. He told us about Conde flying between mango trees and around a Church steeple.
    All aircraft at Zablan field were carpet bomb by the Japanese at night by 12/10, coordinates provided by Japanese spies (sidewalk vendors).
    He also saw Villamor flying a PT-13 photo plane from Corregidor escorted by 4 US Army P-40E. Keep up the history , all these details need to be kept alive. Also FYI, common injury of P-26 pilots was shrapnel in the butt injury.

      Masid I think the P-26 armor did not include armor under the seat, just the back. Also another Pilot Lt. Eduardo Lacson was flying a Segorsky P-35 (US roundels “All Pilots were absorbed into the US Army in1941) was flying a combat air patrol over Negros Island and encountered fuel management mistake and decided to bail out. He was a PAL super DC-8 pilot until Diabeties in 1971 retired him early. Filipino pilots were given P-35s but technically they were classified as US Army pilots. Only ace in the Philippines was American Boyd “Buzz” Wagner who shot down 5 zeros flying the P40E (P35 pilot before WW2). He was withdrawn to the Dutch East Indies by mid December 1941. A P35 in a museum has the markings of Buzz Wagners P35 while stationed at Clarkfield 1940-1941.

    Masid keep providing young generations more information of "Pinoys Heroism". I am a health care worker here in Florida providing therapy for the greatest generation. Everytime I learned from my patients that they serve in the Pacific theater specifically Philippines they salute me for being a Pinoy! " Your soldiers are one heck of a fighter". Some remember they were ordered to retreat but your guys give a good fight. These forces us to fight along with them. One said Gen MacArthur's quote are true "Give me ten thousand Filipinos and I shall conquer the world!". Got plenty of these stories and I cherish their testimony. It makes me emotional.

      Hi! Yes Sigma 6ers we will definitely create more videos like this in the future. It’s comments like yours that push us to create stories of great Filipinos that we can share to our young generation and to the rest of the world. Thanks!
      Also, yes it’s no big surprise for us that our veteran Filipino soldiers are well-respected around the world. Many American veterans know how well Filipinos fought in WW2. That’s why we are proud of this video. It’s our way of honoring them for their sacrifice.
      And hey, you too should consider yourself a hero for taking care of these great soldiers. Glad you enjoyed our video. Thanks Sigma 6ers! Watch out for our next upload coming soon!

    great video. When I saw the pic of his plane I knew those were old aircraft, not comparable to zeros. Even the best american planes at the time were at a disadvantage compared to the zero until new american planes came along. On there other hand the Brewster Buffalo was obsolete and purchased by Finland, but the fins racked up lots of kills against russians because of better training. In fact, the Buffalo has one of the highest kill ratios of WWII, even though it was obsolete at the time.

    • @MasidPH
      @MasidPH  4 года назад +4

      Hi Jg! Glad you enjoyed our video. 😃 Yup, the zero was a great aircraft during the late 30s and early 40s, but you're right, by 1942 it became less effective against newer Allied fighters. Kudos to the Fins! It's a plus when you have great pilot skills.

    • @Charlesputnam-bn9zy
      @Charlesputnam-bn9zy 4 года назад +1

      Jg Rsb,
      it was amazing how the Finns used the barrel-bodied Buffalo so effectively against the sovs' I-16 another barrel-bodied fatty, but rated by the nazis as a dangerous opponent already in Spain and even later on the Eastern Front itself where the Luftwaffe deployed its most advanced pilots & equipment.
      I was astonished to read in a 1964 issue of the American aviation magazine Air Progress about the dreaded
      I-16 and how the Brewster Buffalo, slaughtered by the Japanese in the Philippines, shot the I-16 ''out of the skies'' !
      In fact the Japanese Zeros had already encountered the I-16 in China and Mongolia, and found it no easy prey.
      Martin Caidin's ''The Rugged, Ragged Warriors" (1966) had a chapter on the early days of war in the Pacific with mentions of the impossible exploits with their junk planes by Captain Villamor and Captain William Dyess against the Japanese on Bataan.

    I have been reading about World War 2 history since 1954. As far as i can remember the squadron of Captain Jesus Villamor was called the 26th pursuit squadron and not the 6th squadron. General Douglas MacArthur personally decorated him with the Distinguish Flying Cross and the Distinguish Service Cross in Corregidor before MacArthur left for Australia on March 16, 1942 aboatd the US Navy pt boats that proceeded to Mindanao. He then went to Malaybalay, Bukidnon where he and his family were flown aboard a B-17 bomber to Australia. The rest of Captain then Colonel Jesus Villamor’s story is a very long and glorious one which will take several more hours to write about.

      P-40's and B-17 were neatly lined up in the runways when they were strafed and left burning. Phil AAC had a few relics even at that time, Boeing Peashooters.. The great General had 12 hour notice.
