There is a very high chance the Rogue and BDS skins created by Deadbird contain traced assets. I am unable to find anything on them at the moment.
Deadbird also created a line of Splitgate skins for the org, Elevate. I am unable to find anything on these at the moment.
If anyone has proof of possible tracing for the Rogue, BDS, and Elevate Splitgate skins, please contact me on Twitter and I will update this video's Google doc and pinned comment to include that information.
Thank you for making this video!
Holy smokes.
This video was incredible. Well researched, edited and presented. Bravo
Much appreciated! I'm just glad some people care
Still can't believe he got caught tracing (aka stealing!) art multiple times and then was rehired by DZ after the controversy died back down. Thank you for bringing attention to this!
I like the way you demonstrate how his work is tracing from the original artwork. You've done a great job collecting evidences. I am amazed to learn the fact that a guy like that is still working in the game art industry. 👍
The production quality and research in this video is actually so insanely high. This is the kind of stuff that gets hundred thousands of views in people's RUclips Recommend feed.
Thank you for the kind words!
Prior to this I saw just like 2 very good examples of his tracing but holy shit this is insane. I've loved DaekZero basically forever but the move to get him back is just absolutely terrible. I get it, you might do something like this once, maybe twice (still a really bad thing ofc but at least I can kind of unferstand) but this is just another level. Entire career built on someone else's work, thats crazy. Thank you for such a well made video, hopefully stuff will change
I hope so to. Ubisoft's r6share program is genuinely really cool, and orgs using Deadbird's work should be careful as to not ruin that.
As someone who is in siege I remember when all that info came out and him tracing the artwork. And then when he got rehired and the comments on the post were congratulations to him and I’m thinking are we going to forgot what he done. Then later everyone was against it. So I was glad I wasn’t the only one thinking it.
First off, I want to say this is a fantastically put together video. Between the research done, the quality of the audio (not only your mic but also the music you used), and the editing style used. Great job all around!
Secondly, I will be quick to admit that I initially defended Deadbird, not from a position of saying that tracing art was wrong, but from a position of wanting to be absolutely sure it wasn't a coincidence. Once the second piece of traced art was found back then, I knew it was no longer a situation that could be defended. He was guilty. It's a shame to see this too, Deadbird is clearly a talented artist who can draw some amazing pieces of art, but it is apparent that he does so upon the foundations of others without credit and without permission.
All organizations who hired him after this information was made public, and even now with more information coming out, are disappointments to esports. DarkZero in particular has always been an organization I was wary of, and their rehire of Deadbird this year has only cemented that thought for me.
It's disappointing to see organizations continue to work with him, hopefully that changes soon. I understand that many Esports orgs are running on venture capital fumes and can barely stay afloat, and that Deadbird's work is considerably less expensive than other artists, but it's coming with the cost of potentially ruining something great. I genuinely hope the Soniqs, Oxygen, and other skins he's worked on post-initial removal from DarkZero are original.
hopefully something comes of this. third times the charm, perhaps. great video by the way- covers all the points it needs to and is nice and concise, and really well put together too
I hope so too
Dang, the quality of this video is undeniably good. And you clearly put a lot of effort into the research to really solidify your points. Well done man.
Thank you!
Amazing video showcasing just how much he has traced
A friend had showed me the ratchet and clank emotes soon after the ARX skin controversy was finished, so I knew he had traced far more than just once or twice
Damn I had no idea about this whole story, anyway top tier video!
Amazing quality video my dude. Can tell a lot of time went into it.
Super high quality video on an important topic, instant sub
This video was very entertaining, I like it
Glad to see a video on this topic!
honestly I was so confused when they re-hired him in July, no words for that. feels like a slap in the face for the art community, it’s insane
THIS IS AN INSANE VIDEO, I CANNOT BELIEVE THAT THIS GUY GOT AWAY WITH SO MUCH. THANK YOU FOR BRINGING THIS TO MY ATTENTION, NOW I KNOW WHERE TO SPEND MY MONEY!!!
an old logo i have had made from deadbird was afwull. I gave him clear instructions on what i wanted and the end result was something i wasn't happy with.
In the end i still used it for some time but this video explained a lot about his "art"
kinda sad that i was really exited to have a logo made from him since i thought highly of him.
I'm very sorry that happened to you. Hoping you didn't pay too much...
@@sneduL it was like 40 eur and the current one i use and i think it's much better looking i paid 30 xD
This video was brought to me, a little late, but since I care about art (I’m a artist myself), I do also care about heavy referencing/tracing of works that you present to clients, or that you trace to sell to your clients. It’s sad that IAmDeadbird still isn’t able to understand his wrongdoings, but I doubt that he’ll change in that case. But thank you for making this seen^^
Stellar video bringing attention to this mess. Very well done.
Thank you :)
Fantastic video! Im subbing can't wait for more uploads!
Thank you :)
Insane work man
Well made video.
This is a very needed video man. Good job
This video is so well made it’s crazy
Thank you!
Thanks for sharing. Very informative. 👍👍👍
The think i find most annoying is the fact that you can tell that he knows how to draw, has good shading and he's good at coloring so why plagiarize?
It infuriates the waste of talent, he seems capable to make he's own art, so why do this? lassines? ego? fast fame?
It was a matter of time to get caught, especially getting this big in the industry.
Just my opinion and thoughts, but most art tracers do it because it makes work easier. Why learn anatomy when someone's done the leg work for you? Why bother creating original form when you can build of something else?
The nsfw artist, Shexyo, traced art for seemingly no real good reason. They're plenty talented, but applying that talent can often be time consuming where as tracing isn't.
@@sneduL It looks that nobody told him that tracing is good for practice not for selling. and it seems that he learned nothing out of that.
@@Enyi2306 The Esports industry bleeds money. I'm sure his low prices and fast turn out (because his work is traced) plays a big part of why orgs have continued to work with him. It's unfortunate, but hopefully attention to this behavior will generate discussion for change
this was a really good edit, well done bro
Thank you
Wow, this video deserves more views. I am glad that BikiniBodhi shared this video with his followers. As a R6 player now I know which skins I must avoid buying.
its a but sad when you realize he could’ve gotten as good as his traces if he just put in the work all those years
Good vid great editing. DZ really put this guy on the "leave" for a year.
Industry folk say he might have never been fired, but I can't confirm that source.
@@sneduL my thoughts exactly. As you mentioned he was rehired exactly 1 year after his initial firing. Doubt it's a coincidence.
I may be late to react to this video but... as an artist who is trying to do honest effort to polish my skills. To see someone reach great heights but through theft and cheating makes me both angry and also disheartened.
How does it feel to be a rocket scientist? (c)
