Carnivores 2 and Ice Age were the two first games I ever owned as a kid, alongside Dino Crisis 2. As someone who's personal live benefits more from "mobile consoles", these mobile ports are great for me. I recently got a new phone and downloaded Carnivores Dinosaur Hunt on it, to my surprise, my unlocks and trophy room got deleted from changing the phone, I didn't mind because the grind is what I enjoy and I recently started all over again. Since the update that made Ice Age paid to unlock most of what the game offers, I haven't played it, until I bought it this week. It's cheap and affordable, but if you don't have funds on your play store account, or ways to add it, unfortunately you'll never truly enjoy this game. It's a lot of fun as a "harder" mode to DH, feeling more like a paid expansion than a game with a paywall. I do however, really crave the mod versions. Hopefully this year (which looks promising) I'll have a PC to finally try out those incredible mods that Saurian always showcases in an incredible way, really looking forward to hunting more this year, especially now that I'm into the grind again these past few dates.
It is sad to see the mobile ports get left to collect dust like that, almost as sad as seeing people who have no taste in games get angry at you for pointing out the game's issues. My favorite memory from the games is when me and my brother worked really hard together to unlock the Yeti. My brother even told me that he spotted one once, it felt like hunting a real cryptid.
1. WHAT I HAD NO IDEA YOU DID THE DINOPEDIA SAURIAN! HOW DID I MISS THAT?! 2. Is it possible in the future you could do videos that summarize what weapons are in mods, like what spots take the rifle, shotgun, etc? It would be pretty helpful in making suggestions for weapons in future mods and not doing what has been done already 3. We all know that grass meme never gets old
I only got a computer recently, and like you mentioned, I wouldn’t have known about the games without the mobile ports. I actually didn’t know about the PC games or that Carnivores 2 was ported instead of the original until probably a year ago. I remember playing the games around when they came out, probably around when I first watched Jurassic Park. I would come back to the games every couple years, but soon lost interest again. I just started playing the PC games a few days ago and really enjoy them! By the way, during quarantine probably, I came back to the mobile games again and saw “20 years” and was so confused. Mobile phones with the App Store aren’t 20 years old, but I later found out that the games were from the 90s! So cool, and I’m really into this channel now, thanks!
Fully agree with you here. But one thing I always appreciate about the mobile ports, besides the nostalgia and appeal to my mobile only status(not anymore however since I had it on computer since late 2019) is how fluid the animations of the new animals are, relative to the others. Even the majority of the most detailed and impressive mods do not compare in animation. They are so fluid and realistic, that they appear out of the game, which actually chips at the authenticity. Kind of like how you brought up the Dinosaur Revolution in King Kong in one of your videos. Nonetheless, I do agree the concepts, gameplay, and design of the community mods are far superior, but the animation of the new MB animals are fantastic, though not enough to make up for everything else

Guessing this is a more serious video about carnivores mobile than the last one. But it's just as great! I personally started with the mobile ports and well, I completely agree with you. The pc versions and mods are still WAY better than the mobile ports and all the points you brought up hopefully are enough to convince the people who think you're "biased".
I agree that companies in general are updating less because they know modders will make the game better. Part of me wonders if it's time to start hiring modders instead of waiting for them to make games better.

Nice! Been waiting for this for years. I don’t really know why, but I love the coloration and model of the gigantoraptor. Oh, and why was there a megaloceros on you April fools video? And the lovecraftion figure in ice age? Your last video confused me.

Although the new ones do look good, I liked how colorful and vibrant the old skins were. It really made them stand out and fun to hunt. I remember being so happy as a kid to see the andrewsarchus look like the one from Walking With Beasts.
It's crazy to me to think people would get upset over your preference on the PC games to the mobile ones, especially given how long it's been since they got love. I also find the updates to the engine of Carnivores WAY more interesting as well, as I used to play the originals in the early 2000's. On an earlier video, I had asked however if you would mind helping some of us out there with a "how-to" for adding some of the custom dinos into the new modder engine (like adding the ai for the Mosasaur), but I know you've got your own thing to do in life as well, man, and it's all good! I really am looking forward to one day being able to mod on my own and import some of these awesome dino models in so I can expand the hunt! Cheers!
I remember playing the Carnivores mobile ports when I was in 1st and 2nd grade and sitting at the top of mountains spamming the dinosaur calls to wipe out the map of rexes. Good times.
Carnivores: Ice Age (back in 2001 on PC) was a childhood favorite of mine - hunting Diatryma at night was terrifying lol - the mobile HD port is awesome, but I wish I could play the HD Ice Age on PC as well
I only have a phone, for phone standards they are exelent and comparing the power of a pc with a dam phone is very unreasonable, especially when you are porting a ancient pc game that you did not work in, I'm thankful for what we got even if is far from being an above arvarge hunting game
Its actually a great experience for me. Having a blast hunting dinos left and right has been challenging. You don't get relocations or supplies most of the time but only daily you'll get them. Overall not bad but a bit perfect.
Revisiting this video after a couple months since I'm sure you're busy with life Saurian, as we all are, or simply needed a break. Either way, my take on this topic is I did grow fond of the mobile ports back when they were at their peak in popularity. They've definitely been an improvement over the pc versions as far as hd textures and introducing a limited quantity of new dinosaur/mammal models/sprites to play around with, but you're right on the "that's as far as they go" stance. Honestly, I never expected or seeked any additional gameplay enhancements or improvements to the ports from Tatem that would otherwise stand out from the original versions; my expectations were always aimed at it being more of the same. It may be a shame for fans in the community who want more developer support for the not so popular franchise as a whole, but I can see all the obstacles in the way that usually prevent those things from happening (i.e. like you said how the developers may focus on other projects, or they may simply not have the time or motivation to return fan feedback especially when the game's sales are no longer faring as much as they used to.) So I think the mobile ports were pretty much doomed from the start of when the idea was conjured up. My advice to fans is to save up money for a console or computer because the new Dinosaur Hunt is the best we're working with currently and may be for a long while, excluding anything fan-made.
I remember back when my sister used to get me to shut up when I was like 6 by giving me her iPod 4 with Carnivores installed. I never had the pro version until I got my hands on my own iPod but I didn’t care. Me and my brother would spend hours to find anything that wasn’t an allosaurus or parasaurolophus after we killed Spinosaurus once. But then once I got the pro version I made sure I had every single dinosaur and loved every second of it. But now I’m 17 and still find myself revisiting carnivores every now and then, it has a charm in me that I don’t think I’ll ever get out of my head.
Even though I'm not a fan of the mobile ports, I still have to give Tatem credit for introducing a whole generation (including me) to the Carnivores series. God I remember when I was a little kid playing the mobile ports and getting killed by an allosaurus thinking it was some type of raptor, god some great memories there.
I've never been able to properly play any Carnivores games on my PC (except for Cityscape which I know completely differs from what makes Carnivores Carnivores, but I love it nonetheless). The only Carnivores I could play was the mobile port, which was glued to as a kid. Recently, thanks to your videos, I found a new interest on this franchise and tried to install some mods on my PC. I couldn't get them to properly work so I decided I'd play the mobile ports on my PC via Bluestacks as I don't really enjoy playing on mobile. My god have I been having fun since I installed it. The graphics are gorgeous, I can't get enough of that 2000's-ish polygonal style the ports have, and the new animals and UI are so much fun to me. I would definitely recommend giving it a try on PC, still it's sad to hear that there are no updates on the horizon not only because of the low amount of money the game makes but also because of its engine
I hope they add herd, dinosaur interactions, reward collection, death collection, Natural disasters, new biome, stampede semi aquatic dinosaur and custom seasons.
hello, Saurian. now I know you get around like 1,000 messages/comments/emails/whatever in a matter of weeks, so the chances of you reading this are slim. now, complete honesty here: what I’m about to say is gonna sound like I’m trying to give you a guilt trip or whatever you call it, but it’s the truth and should not be denied amongst others. your content is amazing and you help so many others every day, including myself and I cannot be more thankful to you. you are an astonishing creator. anyway, this is what I really wanted to say, and is obviously gonna seem like a really big comment for something as simple as this, but: did you know in the mobile ports of the game ( which is evident you don’t have much of an opinion on, it might even be on the PC versions ) the Tyrannosaurus cannot swim! it’s a pretty funny detail, so I recommend if you ever do more T. Rex hunts, find a Tyrannosaurus near the coast, stay fairly deep in the water, equip a sniper rifle and take the shot. helped me get 5 rexes! I’d love for you to make a short video on this and help other people who may struggle with Tyrannosaurus hunts. ok, now here’s the begging section: maybe give me a shoutout? lol
Fun Fact:i told my gangsta classmates about Carnivores lore, and they downloaded it on their phones to play it. They later had a debate about the lore, more specifically, the idea that ancients have supernatural abilities or are just very advanced.
Thanks for this channel Saurian. I just discovered these games in the app store and like them more than the originals (played those in 2000, haven’t played any mods) or reboot versions. I had hoped these ports would be on PC like GOG/Steam because of the controls. I really do like the grass in the mobile port.Got some questions regarding the original games 1) Where can I find full versions of carnivores 2 and ice age for PC? 2) What website do you use to download mods from? 3) Is there any grass mod available that is similar to the grass seen here? 4) What are the top 3 mods for Carnivores 2 among the community? 5) Is there a mod for controller support?
I hold out hope that maybe one day at the very least the triceratops and dilophosaurus can be finally added to dinosaur Hunter and the megatherium to ice age despite it being very unlikely but hey a person can dream. Even if nothing ever happens to these two mobile games again since as stated bringing new updates tends to break things but I’m glad near the tale end an effort was made to make these games better. I will always hold a special place in my heart for this duology as they were the catalysts that introduced me to the carnivores series as a whole.
What I really wanted to see that makes me curious is what if they made the carnivore dinosaurs hunt and feed on other dinosaurs while you were hunting? I don't know if the game will support this but it would make things more realistic if they really acted like dinosaurs other than just wandering targets that do nothing, imagine trying to hunt a herbivore and having your prize stolen by a carnivore, or two carnivores competing for resources, well, whatever, I think a lot of people already Imagined this but the idea remains unchangeable.
Lord it's so nice to have this video and not have it be a silly April fools vid. Completely agree on the control points you brought. It applies to all mobile games as it's their biggest flaw, if they had better controls so many more mobile games would be legit good games lol
Recall an old video of yours where you mentioned you were in touch with Tatem devs. Have you asked them to drop in mod support so mods can be played on it?
I will say I’m thankful to be able to pull out my phone and play a version of Carnivores whenever I want. No, it’s not the ideal or authentic way to play, but it’s still Carnivores on standby, and I think that’s pretty cool.
I have to be honest; I’m thankful for the mobile games. Sure, the movement is clunky and its hard to do trick-dodges, as well as a small list of other issues I have, but if not for them, I can’t say I would have gotten back into the franchise, and from there, learned things I wouldn’t have otherwise by finding channels like this one. I’m not very good with computers, nor does my current pc have a disc drive to play a disc of the old games I no longer have. Eventually I want to try finding online copies if possible and maybe modding them, but the mobile games scratch the itch well enough in the meantime. Like you said, good time wasters, wreathed in nostalgia. Seriously, the nostalgia; I was literally just trying to find music to focus hard on solitaire while work was slow the other day, and I remembered how crisp and haunting the Ice Age theme was. I did a round or so with the theme playing in my earbud. And then the itch started. I remembered, there was a mobile port. So I tried the free version and got hit full force with the memories of being at my grandmother’s house staring down the screen at the bleak landscape. This time though, no fear or trepidation. The controls didnt outright suck like I thought they would-they weren’t amazing, but they sufficed-and it made me realize old games like this are perfect to port on mobile devices. I decided to buy the actual paid version of the game because I was impressed enough, and went ahead and snagged DH too. I didn’t touch Solitaire for the rest of the day. Now I know why the dinosaurs (or ‘dinosaurs’) look like how they do, I know there’s deeper, untouched mysteries I never even realized, and so much more. I’m extremely glad I decided to play the mobile games now instead of when they came out. I knew they existed for years but just had no interest at first. With all the updates they’ve added, I feel I would not have had as good an experience at or near launch. Seriously, besides some minor tweaks the only thing I want from the mobile games now is C1 maps and the return of mortal zones, and I want that in the pc games too. I want that perfect blend of the first 2 games, it would be the penultimate Carnivores experience.
I tried all this time to record this game without cinematic bars and I can't find out how to fix the carnivores game resolution to 16:9. Any ideas??? How to fix and how to record this nostalgic game fullscreen? By the way... it seems like the cinematic resolution problem is in eyes the horror game as well as in most android games. I hope somebody could tell me how to fix the fullscreen resolution in carnivores games. Like in minute 0:45. The entire carnivores video is still cinematic. Any ideas how to fix that resolution to fullscreen in carnivores game?
Hey saurian target I just wanted to say I’ve been a fan for a long time and I wanted to give you a challenge for carnivores dinosaur hunt (the new reboot) the challenge is to try and kill every carnivore on the great forest fog with no perks and just the starting rifle.
Imagine if someone used that old outaded semi aquatic Compsognathus idea in a carnivores mod Thats actually an amazing idea I might just use it in my fangame Edit: yeah I'm using that.
I've kinda had this "dream" for a while to go into game design and all that and try to apply to tatem and save these games. It's just a stupid idea though, it will never happen. Although if by some chance it will ever happen I'd do this: 1) try to switch the game engine 2) reskin for gigantoraptor 3) try to replicate the hunt menu aesthethic from carnivores 1/carnivores 2 4) make a setting to toggle the old graphics for the dinosaur reskins (there are a few people who liked the tatem exclusive dinos with he old skins) 5) tons of bugfixing and real optimization (the "best performace" graphics option is best at being a failure if you ask me and a lot of other people) 6) steam port 7) transparency and communication Then I'd do some more tatem exclusive stuff like: 8) Dilophosaurus and possibly another dino? 9) a new weapon? 10) a new map? (possibly something following the C1 aesthethic? So yeah this is my "dream view" of what I could (and probably never) do with the mobile ports (same would probs go for IA too)
Hey saurian just asking. Where are the old hour long mod reviews? like the original review for triassic? are they privated or something because i really miss watching them. Also ive red your responses to other people asking the same questions and you talk about an old videos playlist but i checked all playlists and nothing came up. Not demanding here for answers but i am curious as to there dissappearance. edit: wait i found the link sorry for the trouble.
As a mobile player I do enjoy the carnivores mobile apps. But I hope somewhere in the future that carnivores mobile well be available on steam somewhere in the future. All I can do is hope
Hello asking this again saurian target if you could make a video on how to add new models to carnivores 2 animation and so on or how you made your own mod please for future carnivores mods
@@SaurianTarget it's find I manage to find for new models and videos for animation thanks though plus I used some of your old videos to make a part of carnivores air bound
I really want to play it again, but there's nothing interesting that make play them again, I've been waiting for a new dinosaur, a map, weapons or game mods (like a scape room) for years; but there's nothing, and I can't enjoy Ice Age because I need to pay the Complete Edition, which had nothing new since 2018. Is just so sad how a game I really enjoy since I was a kid is been dead through the years.
I wanted to clean up the channel a little bit, since I don’t think those old videos hold up all that well. But I wanted to keep them for people to watch since I know people enjoy them!
I used to play a carnivores game on the ps3. It definitely wasn't the carnivores HD game, it had similar graphics to carnivores 1 or 2 but I dont think it was either. Does anyone know which game this is? I can't find it anywhere!?
What a fantastic game where we can shoot aliens (If any yall are confused. The creatures in these games are technically aliens cuz the creatures r from another planet and you're on that planet)
There are download links under his “How To Install Carnivores Mods”. Now, it is illegal to pirate these games, but nobody is losing anything from it, so nobody really cares, but, it is still illegal. You can also non-illegally install them via a disk, you can find a lot on eBay.
Surprised how they haven't put these games on Steam. It's already a pain in the ass to play the classic carnivores games. I spent $40 on a disc just to find out it won't run. Can't play them on my phone because they're too much for my phone to the point that I can cook eggs on my phone.
Hey! So I downloaded the jurassic park hunter legends (special edition) and when I set the compatibly to windows 98 like you said, it says I have to give it permission to make changes. I have big trust issues lmao so do I let it or is it best to leave it in the trash?

3:33 lmfao, that twist was unexpected
How are you playing on bluestacks? Are you playing with a controller??
@@CziffraTheThird mouse and keyboard! With a little configuration you can make the game play exactly like the PC ones
@@salem6310 Hmm!....I tried before on bluestacks and I couldn't find any settings for keyboard and mouse settings!
Amazing job saurian
As usual
Still wish they updated the mobile port
Same 😞
@@SaurianTarget I’m still waiting for the Styracosaurus and Trachodon

should do a modding tut video next , expanding carnivores universe can never be a bad thing
I’d love for you to make a short video on this and help other people who may struggle with Tyrannosaurus hunts. ok, now here’s the begging section:
maybe give me a shoutout? lol
I would love too see you the original carnivores again I miss it
Incredible thumbnail bro
Fun Fact:i told my gangsta classmates about Carnivores lore, and they downloaded it on their phones to play it.
They later had a debate about the lore, more specifically, the idea that ancients have supernatural abilities or are just very advanced.
Thanks for this channel Saurian. I just discovered these games in the app store and like them more than the originals (played those in 2000, haven’t played any mods) or reboot versions. I had hoped these ports would be on PC like GOG/Steam because of the controls. I really do like the grass in the mobile port.Got some questions regarding the original games
1) Where can I find full versions of carnivores 2 and ice age for PC?
2) What website do you use to download mods from?
3) Is there any grass mod available that is similar to the grass seen here?
4) What are the top 3 mods for Carnivores 2 among the community?
5) Is there a mod for controller support?
They do need to do major updates for the 20 year celebration
We all just want the Triceratops added to the mobile ports, then the game would feel more complete

Far North still lacks a mammoth or any other prehistoric elephant in that mod. Do U still wish there was a Platybelodon or Deinotherium in carnivores?
No, it has Platybelodon, Mammoth, Deinotherium and Mastodon planned for the final release
I don’t have to wish, because Far North is getting them at a later release!
@@SaurianTarget damn that's good to know
great video saurian
Lord it's so nice to have this video and not have it be a silly April fools vid. Completely agree on the control points you brought. It applies to all mobile games as it's their biggest flaw, if they had better controls so many more mobile games would be legit good games lol
Gotta get those fools in April every now and again 😂
I wish they added Controller/Gamepad support before going dark.
@@cyborgparrot1996 that would've been the best thing ever.
@@SaurianTarget can't wait for next year's lol you actually got me. I wanted a revist for a while and I got played
I’ve spent many a long roadtrip grateful for the mobile ports
So is carnivores dinosaur hunter going to get any new updates?
Maybe watch the video and I’ll tell you my answer 🤷♂️
Sweet new video

Today I was playing carnivores mobile and I found two! Brachiosaurs by each other
i remember i had nightmares being in the world of the ice age game running and hiding from boars and yetis oh god..
Should just release it on steam anyway and have the community fix it up for them
Hey saurian target I just wanted to say I’ve been a fan for a long time and I wanted to give you a challenge for carnivores dinosaur hunt (the new reboot) the challenge is to try and kill every carnivore on the great forest fog with no perks and just the starting rifle.
Thank you
You’re welcome, Mr. T
Imagine if someone used that old outaded semi aquatic Compsognathus idea in a carnivores mod
Thats actually an amazing idea I might just use it in my fangame
Edit: yeah I'm using that.
saurian there is a mod that ads a saurophaganax
will you perhaps add the old videos playlist to the channel playlists instead of them only being accessible via link?
I play the mobile ports, and I hope when I become older I can switch to the computer carnivores, then I can play the real good stuff
Deep down i was hoping the moschops would appear xD
He’s all rested up now, back to doing Moschops things 😂
I wish Saurian will come back
I will return soon. Maybe.
@@SaurianTarget ok
I just wish that they would make all of the carnivores games on modern video game consoles
I wish we had more content for these games. It was the only reason I stopped lol.
I've kinda had this "dream" for a while to go into game design and all that and try to apply to tatem and save these games. It's just a stupid idea though, it will never happen. Although if by some chance it will ever happen I'd do this:
1) try to switch the game engine
2) reskin for gigantoraptor
3) try to replicate the hunt menu aesthethic from carnivores 1/carnivores 2
4) make a setting to toggle the old graphics for the dinosaur reskins (there are a few people who liked the tatem exclusive dinos with he old skins)
5) tons of bugfixing and real optimization (the "best performace" graphics option is best at being a failure if you ask me and a lot of other people)
6) steam port
7) transparency and communication
Then I'd do some more tatem exclusive stuff like:
8) Dilophosaurus and possibly another dino?
9) a new weapon?
10) a new map? (possibly something following the C1 aesthethic?
So yeah this is my "dream view" of what I could (and probably never) do with the mobile ports (same would probs go for IA too)
Hey Saurian Target, PLZ do a video on the Delphaeus Hills Ghoul!🙏
Hey saurian just asking. Where are the old hour long mod reviews? like the original review for triassic? are they privated or something because i really miss watching them. Also ive red your responses to other people asking the same questions and you talk about an old videos playlist but i checked all playlists and nothing came up. Not demanding here for answers but i am curious as to there dissappearance.
edit: wait i found the link sorry for the trouble.
As a mobile player I do enjoy the carnivores mobile apps. But I hope somewhere in the future that carnivores mobile well be available on steam somewhere in the future. All I can do is hope
All any of us can do is hope 😭
Hello asking this again saurian target if you could make a video on how to add new models to carnivores 2 animation and so on or how you made your own mod please for future carnivores mods
Unfortunately, I have no idea how to make new models or animations, but there are some videos from some actual modders on RUclips on how to do that!
@@SaurianTarget it's find I manage to find for new models and videos for animation thanks though plus I used some of your old videos to make a part of carnivores air bound
I still want these mobile ports on steam, with workshop and all
I think we all do 😔
I’ve always liked the mobile games because I’ve played them for ten years.
This is why I changed from the mobile port carnivore games to the PC ones.
It is a pretty sad situation 😔
It would be amazing that those games would add more animals
heres a little question why arent the old videos on the main channel uploads or in the mod review playlist just curious.
I wanted to clean up the channel a little bit, since I don’t think those old videos hold up all that well. But I wanted to keep them for people to watch since I know people enjoy them!
@@SaurianTarget makes sense though do you plan to add the hour long reviews back to the review playlist?
or perhaps add the old playlist onto the channel playlists
Can you show me is it impossible to buy something in carnivores dinosaur hunter classic without buying the pro version
Wtf are you talking about
I used to play a carnivores game on the ps3. It definitely wasn't the carnivores HD game, it had similar graphics to carnivores 1 or 2 but I dont think it was either. Does anyone know which game this is? I can't find it anywhere!?
They stopped making it :( You may be able to find a copy on eBay.
Maybe Digital Dreams will give us the galactic zoo update...
(obviously not but we can dream, right?)
BRB digitally dreaming 😭
Yes
What a fantastic game where we can shoot aliens
(If any yall are confused. The creatures in these games are technically aliens cuz the creatures r from another planet and you're on that planet)
I’ve been singing this tune for years and it still confuses people 😂
help please how do i get the original games on pc please?
There are download links under his “How To Install Carnivores Mods”. Now, it is illegal to pirate these games, but nobody is losing anything from it, so nobody really cares, but, it is still illegal. You can also non-illegally install them via a disk, you can find a lot on eBay.
Surprised how they haven't put these games on Steam.
It's already a pain in the ass to play the classic carnivores games.
I spent $40 on a disc just to find out it won't run. Can't play them on my phone because they're too much for my phone to the point that I can cook eggs on my phone.
Btw I don’t think you can unlock dinosaurs anymore
Saurian why you stop when are you going to start a new video?
Life got busy. Hoping to have a new video up in the next couple of weeks.
hi does anyone know any good screen recorders for carnivores most i try never work or have awful quality
The real question is....is there any way we can simply play these on our laptops or computers? Why does this have to be so difficult for me?
I think some folks have gotten the ports to work on their computers via BlueStacks?
Hey! So I downloaded the jurassic park hunter legends (special edition) and when I set the compatibly to windows 98 like you said, it says I have to give it permission to make changes. I have big trust issues lmao so do I let it or is it best to leave it in the trash?
You need to. It is just a needed thing. Triassic doesn’t require it though…
Hey man, I've been struggling to find the older carnivores games, like 1, 2 cityscape, etc. Do you know where to find them?
I have a video called “How to Download Carnivores games/mods,” and in the description of that video are download links to the original Carnivores games!
