I could not listen to this song at a better time. The whole song is so catchy, and played so well. They are without a doubt the coolest people to have ever gone to my school.
I haven't listened to them in a while and it's so nice to get back into it again. As much as I still want to see any many of their shows as possible, I'm sad I was too young to have gotten to go to these early concerts. Magical.
So many fish there in the sea I wanted you, you wanted me That's just a phase, it's got to pass I was a train moving too fast Didn't understand what to see Yeah, then I got a different view It's you, no Wait, I'm not gonna give it a break I'm not your friend, I never was I said, wait, I'm not gonna give it a break I'm not your friend, I never was, no So many fish there in the sea She wanted him, he wanted me That's just a phase, it's got to pass I was a train moving too fast Yeah, I know you warned me But this is too important And now I got a different view It's you... Why can't you wait? I'm not gonna give it a break I'm not your friend, I never was I said you, wait, I'm not gonna give it a break I'm not your friend, I never was
@wwwrampagewww Actually, I just realized - I think Albert is playing the synth riff on the chorus. If you watch right around 3:05. I guess Nick shared the secret technique
go albert! :) I love he looks when he plays guitar. and haha at nikolai's look. gotta love him. love the chorus of this song. :) so much. same with you talk way too much. btw, does anyone else notice how julian's weight changes SO MUCH, at one point he was a living tooth pick, even more than nick (:P) and then he gets chubby (like right now) and then suddenly he's all toned.
@naota1800 OMG before they signed to Rough trade they signed to RCA first, and those two RECORD LABEL is INDIE! they use DIY system with the artist, nowaday indie band doesn't mean the band has to do everything by their self, they need money, so those indie label give them money but they still do the music by their self under those label, cant u see? they could choose the producer not the label force the band to do anything. they were fucking indie, stop lie to urself buddy!
@pstrokeslibsarctic They were NEVER indie. They came out with Is This It in 2001 and they were signed to rough trade records. And yes i know they got together in 1998. In a interview and i can't remember which one said this but he said we only played in front of our friends and we were off on working on the album. besides they're first GIG was in 10-26-00 so yeah. they were playing gigs untill album came out and Julian Casablancas said that " It's bizarre playing before your albu, comes out."
@naota1800 I agree with u about that guy to dont talk shit, but the BEAST ASS BASS PLAYER is not him in dont think so... maybe in indie rock of this generation is YES but.. Carlos Dengler.. the interpol's bassist is one of the best too.. their songs' bassline is so beautiful.. but i love "is this it" bassline so much.. but i think FLEA of RHCP is the best bass player in indie rock band (actually RHCP was an indie band when they were not this famous) im sorry if i attack some one sorry :L

the way everything builds up to the chorus is just so amazing. This has to be one of my favourite choruses.
Nikolai doesn't seem to be such an expressive person.
I can't even explain how I feel about this song!!simply amazing..
Just about one of their best songs. Eveeerrr.
I can't believe how much of a too-cool-for-school-hipper-than-thou-BADASS Nikolai looks like at 1:04
I'm back to my strokes phase, listening on repeat
Nick's guitar during the chorus is probably the catchiest riff ever.
That man has written some of the best guitar riffs of the 21st century.
Actually is Albert's guitar, I think
@@niallo23 julian actually wrote the riff along with everything else on the first two records
@@jonahmunyon1866 yes that’s true, but ‘Automatic Stop’ was co-written with Albert . It’s my favourite track on room on fire though
shit....i've seen this a thousand times and just utnil now i realize abotu Julian's smile around 2:13 straight to the camera
So many fish there in the sea
I wanted you, you wanted me
That's just a phase, it's got to pass
I was a train moving too fast
Didn't understand what to see
Yeah, then I got a different view
It's you, no
Wait, I'm not gonna give it a break
I'm not your friend, I never was
I said, wait, I'm not gonna give it a break
I'm not your friend, I never was, no
So many fish there in the sea
She wanted him, he wanted me
That's just a phase, it's got to pass
I was a train moving too fast
Yeah, I know you warned me
But this is too important
And now I got a different view
It's you...
Why can't you wait?
I'm not gonna give it a break
I'm not your friend, I never was
I said you, wait, I'm not gonna give it a break
I'm not your friend, I never was
Best song ever.

@hiphopsucks96 Don't talk shit about Nikolai if you haven't noticed hes a beast ass bass player

@OSV2536 Yeah, the bass was bored by him :(
the lyrics at 1:50 and 1:51 are actually: that's not your friend, he never was...Ahahaha, Julian, always changing his own lyrics..
