Guys: Julian wrote everything on the first 2 CD's,(except sharing this song w/Albert)..he let all the royalties get split SIX ways (mgr. Ryan also).which is UNHEARD of (Bono is the only other songwriter that did this)...and Jules also never went around bragging about being THE songwriter..a lot of people didn't even know he could play an instrument..he wrote ALL the music parts.. he said he didn't want any animosity in the band...he worked real hard and was a very chill guy about all of it
Waow why's everybody hatin on Julian's own band ...Yes ... He personally met and offered these find people to play with him .. Sure they ain't The Strokes but sheesh people have got to show at least some respect and appreciation.
Some of you are MAD hating on that drummer, but I actually like his energy quite a bit. By the tone of the guitars this already isn't a Strokes version of Automatic Stop, but they (and obviously Jules himself) did a damn fine job
Wonder if anyone noticed the guy playing the telecaster to the right. That's the man who's actually known as the guru and besides giving both Albert & Julian guitar lessons.. etc.. Helped Julian with many arrangements on the 1st two records..
Adrian Amate Sanchez To be clear, Julian wrote every song on 'Is This It' (music & lyrics). He also wrote all of the songs on Room On Fire with the exception of 'Automatic Stop' whom he co-wrote with Albert Hammond Jr. With 'First Impressions Of Earth', Nick, Nikolai and Fab each co-wrote one song with him but he wrote all of the other 11. It wasn't until 'Angles' that all songs were credited as 'Written by The Strokes'. What I'm obviously getting at is yes, they're a band but Julian has written most of their music by himself.
I see The Strokes as a combination of 5. Julian the new-wavy one, Albert the fragile rock'n'roller, Nick the guitar hero, Niko the indie one, and Fab the energy bomb :D the Strokes is a combo of new-wave, post-punk, 80s pop and 60s soul. Yes, Julian wrote most of the songs, but the others helped them shape up. Definitely not saying Julian shouldn't sing his own songs, just saying The Strokes a real band that simply had a primary songwriter, like you said.
If you go to wikipedia you can see that is not all julian, the other band members also writte some lyrics and music for Is This It, Room on Fire and First Impressions of Earth (including the songs that you say before)
Apparently, he's a great songwriter. He had written the songs for most of his project, but the reasons he doesn't play appear to be: 1. Practicality (he felt restricted when singing) 2. Expertise (he isn't an excellent player overall) He was the one to point this out, from what I gather up anyways.
2:14 - 2:19 in only 5 seconds crazy things happens: the guy in the crowd overturns, julian see something strange and at the same time a petard is flying... WTF?
This was when Julian was touring for his solo album in France, with the musicians of his solo band. They played a few Strokes songs (Ask me anything, Hard to explain, Automatic stop...)
Good lord everyone is hardcore hating on this band, if you wanna see the strokes play it go look that up. You guys don't know a good cover when you see one, the point is not to play it exactly like the original band. It's rad to have two different versions. Yes, personally I like the strokes version more, but this is great too
So many fish there in the sea I wanted you, you wanted me That's just a phase, it's got to pass I was a train moving too fast Didn't understand what to see Yeah, then I got a different view It's you, no Wait, I'm not gonna give it a break I'm not your friend, I never was I said, wait, I'm not gonna give it a break I'm not your friend, I never was, no So many fish there in the sea She wanted him, he wanted me That's just a phase, it's got to pass I was a train moving too fast Yeah, I know you warned me But this is too important And now I got a different view It's you... The guitar player with the beard and long sideburns is The Strokes' Guru back from "Is This It". If you all look at the booklet in the Is This It CD, you will see it for yourselves.
@xBriiittaniiix ...Ok... But, is a song BY The Strokes. XD I saw some videos which he sang and his voice isnt bad, but isnt nice. I say again, I'AM A FAN OF JULIAN too but THAT song IS by the strokes. I dont understand why you go have an argument with me xdd. Peace Briiitaniiix, I love London and this summer i'm going to go England. I'll eat fish and chips and i'll taste all kinds of chocolat. And... jajaj
@xBriiittaniiix Hello girl, his voice is not normal, look that in any concerte and you can feel the diference. And... I cant hope his voice has change for a year. Me too be a fan of Jules, but i have to recognise it. Is a song by THE STROKES. He wrote some of songs of the STROKES, but them, are songs by THE STROKES (Fab, Nick, Albert, Nikolai too) JULIAN CASABLANCAS IS NOT THE STROKES.
this is really sad.......playing such a beautiful wong without nick albert and nick............ u.u @TheSonorama21 you're right these are not the strokes
The lead guitar in automatic stop is meant to keep the timing, it kind of acts like a metronome with the way the strumming is, that’s why I don’t think it’s the drums that is throwing the song off with its tempo but the lead.

Annie Conz He even did the instruments¿?
he wrote most of them for sure
Thats crazy. And split royalties???? What a cool dude. Much respect.
How do you know this? I'd love to see an article breaking this down if it's true
94 Sounds the guys in the bands have said it themselves
The drummer is on fire ! Good performance
i thought the drummer was too fast
He was like a train. But I like.
Waow why's everybody hatin on Julian's own band ...Yes ... He personally met and offered these find people to play with him .. Sure they ain't The Strokes but sheesh people have got to show at least some respect and appreciation.

I agree
I agree too
Marxer you again? Stalker of pc disciple?
hahahah I don't mind...
i see you every so often, maybe this is because we have the same music taste
The drummers energy is probably because he is a fan of The Strokes and got carried away playing with Julian
Isn't that the current drummer for The Voidz? If so, he's always like that :>
Ian Rojo yes he is the drummer of the voidz
I has been posted the same friend!! You have all the fuckin reason!! The drummer take out all the rest of musicians. A real tragedy.
Drummer was crushing it 💯
funny to see this comment

@@jrpm6951 That isnt acurate info, even in the later albums Julian is the only lyricist.
@Christy Hardy yeah my mistake, also the warner chapell says the same i was telling ya
@@TheJamiro365 that's not true, in angles and comedown machine all the the strokes have the credits for the lyrics and music
Loved this version, the band enjoyed playing the song to the max
3 members of the Voidz in this
TuRtLeSaC95 asi es men
Yes they are
i was a drummer! going to fast ♪♫
Danielle haim! 😍
Hey, yo! Danielle Haim is viiiiiibbbbiiiiiing, love it
Did he get Motörhead to be his backing band?
yyouthcanoee hahaha
His voice is amazing!!! And so is the band and this song!!
Apparently, he's a great songwriter. He had written the songs for most of his project, but the reasons he doesn't play appear to be:

Giuseppe Papa I just rewound that part like 5 times, what did he pick up? I can't make it out loll
my guess would be a bra considering how he picked it up and then dropped it right away and smiled
Yes it was a bra
This was when Julian was touring for his solo album in France, with the musicians of his solo band. They played a few Strokes songs (Ask me anything, Hard to explain, Automatic stop...)

That drummer sped up at the chorus and screwed julian up
Julian even had go to tell him to slow it down after the first chorus lol
2:19 is It a bra?
This is a weird vibe. I feel like the song is really laid back and Julian understands that and the rest of the band is just so on top of the beat
I like it. The discord in Julian's voice is a great touch
Fucking amazing, one of the best versions of this song. Love it
What a great performance.
Does someone know what distortion was used on Julian's voice?
That's Danielle from Haim in the back with the hat. They kick ass.
Man i just checkd them out, they look more like h**kers than musicians
DANIELLE! 😍
12 years later and I still know it's you.
2:08 haha is that the guru?! He looks like he is so into it hahha
He sounds so good here. Still it makes me sad to see him sing Strokes songs without The Strokes. Also is that JP Bowersock
I like how everybody hates on the fact that he is playing strokes without the strokes(including me)
Dire que j'y étais ..
Me encanta su look..
Michael Jackson tientes y

The drummer is so excited
All this really makes you want to do is listen to the album version, which sounds better and doesn't require watching the backing band.
who's the beauty back there?
Así uno inicia una buena semana. Con buena música. En compañía de este guapo #juliancasablancas
Perfecttt !
just....... amazing
The guitar player playing Albert's parts I'm pretty positive is jp Bowersock. He taught Albert and Julian how to play guitar
Mi primer amor
The guitar player with the beard and long sideburns is The Strokes' Guru back from "Is This It". If you all look at the booklet in the Is This It CD, you will see it for yourselves.
At least they've got the Guru there!
Danielle!!!!! I'm screaming!!!!
Theres a master of melody!
i became a #JulianCasaBlancas fan Post #InstantCrush i must say he's Good at what he does
exactly 7 years ago
Love you Julian
Terrible live
I love thier energy
Is Danielle even plugged in? haha
hes just into it man
His more recent performances of this song are much better.

You can see his wife from the back. In the minute 1:17 she's the one in front of someone in blue. From the left side, it's kinda hide it.
Who's the girl at 2:25?
Danielle Haim
Anyone knows which setup Julian uses on his voice? Thanks
Me encanta el minuto 2:19 :w jaja su cara, LOVE SO MUCH JULIAN
X2 jejeje
Wait on the album it says that it was written by Albert and Julian......
Wish they would slow it down a bit.
@TheClayster1138 um, doesn't julian write almost everything? I think we've already established that.
what was the thing julian picked up?
Love the strokes!!!
I think it’s a bra
No, you're not Albert. Or Nick. Or Fab. Or Nikolai.
No.
+Julesmodernage I'm pretty sure they were all very aware of that.
The beauty of a cover
.....?
@TheSonorama21 Thats The Guru JP Bowersock!
Oh my god drummer and tempo going too fast
Telle 🤘 SG🤘& that drummer what?. Tight as a knot in my sons shoe laces Amate de la cool breeze
@deinemudderseikopp Check out the female guitarist with the hat at 2:08 playing a red gibson guitar. There are 3 guitarists.
@FEERNBEER *BUZZZZ* WRONG! The answer was '3'
so many guitarists >.
nostalgic song

he's on a music love high.
The drums look very unstable on that riser.
The Drummer make me cry yeah....
I'm referring to the actual Strokes by the way.
Why's the indie queen standing behind the drum kit :) ? Come out girl, amaze us.
Danielle Haim
julian simplesmente do caralho *0*
Danielle Haim is the coolest
None of you are really Strokes fans if you dont know who JP Bowerstock is......
