    Yeah, I'm with it. The flakes are nothing. I wld much rather deal with that than to pay damn near $20 for a baby jar of hair product, NO WAY! Thank you for doing this video, you helped a lot ($17 worth 😄 )

    I swear if Cantu didnt flake, it would be my go to gel. The way it leaves my curls is AMAZING not to mention the smell!! Yes! But until they get that flaking under control, Kinky Curly is bae. Great review! Thanks for showing how both gels hold up throughout the week! Not many people do that.

      Hi, thank you & I agree if it didn't flake it would be one of my top favorite to go products but in the mean time the kinky curly has never let me down.

      longNhealthy I find using a small amount of oil under the cantu helps with flakes.

    • @ruetoo

      This is late but, using the Cantu Coconut Curling Cream over the custard (use a small amount of the custard) helps the flaking, I get little to no flaking.

    I'm late to the party BUT.. the Cantu side has me side eyeing the Kinky Curly heavily 😒😒...
    Those minimal flakes are nothing in comparison to the size & cost of the Kinky Curly.. I'm definitely gonna purchase the Cantu custard!!!

      +Edmarys I love it. I've been using for at least 7 years. I only use Kinky-Curly, Jane Carter Solution and Deva Curl. Kinky-Curly is my go to in the warmer months and the other two I use during the colder months.

    My gosh your curls are stunningly beautiful!!!! I sort of stumbled on your channel. I have been on my natural hair journey for about 2 years after straightening my hair for more than 50 years. I'm soaking up as much curly info as I can. One thing I have discovered is that when white flakes occur it is because my hair is not wet enough when I apply the product. Anyway....great video. Lots of info and loved the comparison. Thanks!

  • @MummyBrown
    @MummyBrown 5 лет назад +2

    This was suuuuper helpful, thank you! I have healthy 2b waves and I always have to prep my hair with a little bit of oil prior to using my styler. I find the Kinky Curly to be a tad oily and it seems to leave my hair so soft that it frizzes easily. Second day hair was a weird mess for me because of it. After switching up to ECO gel I've learned that my hair seems to need that crunchy cast to keep from being frizzy.
    Did you happen to notice a difference in hydration between the Kinky-Curly and the Cantu Custard?
    Also, I've read that using oil and/or a leave-in helps to eliminate that flaking so maybe give that a go. Cantu makes a great leave-in cream that's light enough even for my waves.

    Hello Edmarys! Thank you for posting this video and doing the product comparison. Based on your results, I went ahead and bought the Cantu curly custard and I love my results!! My hair is super defined and shiny with no frizz! I'm happy that I discovered your channel because you also like the shiny, super defined curl look that I'm after. Thanks for offering alternatives to the high priced products that aren't always budget friendly. Your curly hair is so beautiful!😍

    Beautiful results and a great comparison :) I need to try the cantu product ❤️ I love my kinky curly curling custard so it's nice to have a cheaper alternative. Maybe the white flakes were caused by using a different brand conditioner? Like maybe they didn't play well together?

I'm trying to get my hair healthy after wearing it up in a messy bun for almost 5 yrs straight (my children loved to play pull or get sick tmi on my hair) I've just started this journey of finding the right products. Hi, your hair looks great! I've used both products but haven't used the kinky one in a long time because it's so expensive, so I recently started using the Cantu custard. I've also used it with the coconut curling cream from Cantu as well. Does it make a difference using those together or alone? Also did you use any other product, like a leave in or something, in your hair before applying the Cantu Custard? Ty!

    Hi appreciated the video I was wanting to really try the Cantu custard but was worried about the flakes but now that i see how beautifully defined your curls were I will pick it up the next shopping trip I take! Also for a video idea maybe you could do the Cantu curl activator and maybe combine it with other Cantu products and do vs she’s moisture or something like that thanks!

    You hair is gorgeous. I can't wait for mind to get that long. It has been long all of my life but when I went natural. I had my beautician cut all of the curl off. It is long now but of course there is shrinkage so it looks short. But it is all good. I am enjoying the journey. I use the Tresemme Gel for Flawless curls.This gel holds my curls all day long and I have a bounce as well. I may try the Cantu Define and Shine. I already use the Cantu Curling, Activator for Natural Hair and the Daily Oil Moisturizer. They work great at such a great price.
    Great video. Please do more. Great job!!!

    • @Edmarys
      @Edmarys  8 лет назад +1

      Hi :) I haven't tried the Tresemme Gel I will give it a try, my hair has been extra frizzy lately so I need something with hold but that doesn't give me crunchy curls.

      Oh there is a little bit of hardness, but not the usual gel hard, but once you do the pineapple for the night and take it down the next that crunch is gone... You will be left only with the bouncing hair...

    Hey Edmarys, your curls look great and I really don't see any difference! I was wondering what you do with your hair when you sleep. I have to refresh my hair on a daily base because some of the curls turn into frizzy waves because I put my hair in a bun every morning before I shower. Btw I just bought the Kinky Curly custard & if that works out for me I'll definitely try the Cantu custard.

      Hi, so sorry for the late reply. I just put my hair in a pineapple and put a head wrap on the front to avoid it from frizzing up while I sleep. I also have to refresh my curls a bit in the a.m but I think thats normal for all curly hair girls :)

    • @Edmarys
      @Edmarys  7 лет назад

      I love them both, try applying the products while your hair is really wet (but not dripping) and let it hair dry (or diffuse it). If you apply it while your hair is damped it will not work the same, it may leave you with dry crunchy curls.

    • @justinehorton2527
      @justinehorton2527 6 лет назад

      Edmarys So I tried the kinky curly again. I love it! I like that it's a firm hold but not crunchy. It's the only thing that made my braided pigtails look great and reduced the hair bulk like it says. I think I'll continue to buy it because the cantu always left my hair dry and flakey. I think it was the coconut oil in it....

    With the kinky curly, you are also paying more for better ingredients. Cantu is loaded with chemicals and not as natural.
