The Axel Rose freakout was pre-cell phone days. The guy had an old camcorder, which was expressly forbidden. Rose saw it and gave security about two seconds to handle it before he decided to dive on him.
Yeah back in the day rights to image and video and audio were very important and they lived from that and they earned a lot from that. Now everything depends on live shows...rights for songs are literally paying almost nothing.

But honestly, people on stage these days. Considering what happened with Dimebag I wouldn't hold it against any musician to not want non-authorized people on stage with them. You never know after all, it might be a psycho with a gun - or it might be a frat boy who genuinely likes Staind - I leave it to you to decide which is the more terrifying.

@Reiley’s Trains 8444 A crazy fan jumped on stage, stood next to him for a lil bit, then pulled out a gun and started shooting. Dime was killed, I think there was another casualty and a lot of injured people before an off duty cop or something managed to land the killing blow on the assailant.
That.... and many other instances of fans rushing the stage and doing shitty stuff - like the time Robin Williams was PUSHED off stage and injured himself by someone angry over Take That - that is the reason why musicians go fucking ape when someone gets up on stage whos not supposed to be there.
Very good reason if you ask me, safety first, especially in those backwards ass countries that let civilians arm themselves.
@MUHAMMAD ISMAIL BIN HAIRODZ HANIFF - he actually was a Patera fan and held Dimebag responsible for the band's break up. So he goes up to stage during Dime and Vinnie's newly formed band Damageplan's concert at a small bar, stood there for a couple minutes during their 1st song and shot Dime 3 times. He then kept shooting which resulted in a total of 4 deaths and 2 injuries before the local police shot him dead. That's the reason musicians shouldn't allow fanatics on stage. It could be a psychopath and I don't think musicians kicking fans off stage is a dick move. RIP Dimebag!

The Axle Rose incident happened at Riverport in St. Louis. Axle refused to perform after the incident and the fans trashed the place. The fire department sprayed people with fire hoses to get them to stop.

This is why they are there, taking picture of their idol etc. I don't know the context to be honest but based on these short videos they look assholes.

No that Manson /John 5 moment was for real. John subsequently quit the band and signed on with Rob Zombie.
4:30 I was very curious about this and found a podcast where john5 explained the incident. His father had cancer and he was worrying about him and then his sister suddenly died of an overdose. Then the show it self was bad there were a lot of sound issues etc. John was on the edge so he just flipped out. And you know that is a genuine reaction because that guitar he throws is one his custom teles...

Halford was justified. I don't know if you've ever been at a metal concert, but filming with a flash on is forbidden even to accredited photographers. If you don't want your phone destroyed, don't violate rules that you've agreed to by purchasing a ticket for the show.
