  • Alice In Wonderland Reaction is today's video!
Hey everyone! Join me today as I watch Alice In Wonderland for the first time today! This Dazzling movie had so much wonder and enjoyment that I could watch it over and over again.
A young girl when she first visited magical Underland, Alice Kingsleigh (Mia Wasikowska) is now a teenager with no memory of the place -- except in her dreams. Her life takes a turn for the unexpected when, at a garden party for her fiance and herself, she spots a certain white rabbit and tumbles down a hole after him. Reunited with her friends the Mad Hatter (Johnny Depp), the Cheshire Cat and others, Alice learns it is her destiny to end the Red Queen's (Helena Bonham Carter) reign of terror.

I think you'll get a kick out of this:
There is actually an answer to, "Why is a raven like a writing desk?"
"Because it can produce a few notes, however flat; and it's NEVAR with the wrong end in front."

17:46 that part made me hate Stayne more than ever. What makes it worse is that there are people like that in real life too... they try to sexually abuse people, but then when the victims try to get away or defend themselves, the accuser will then blame the victim. It's just messed up 😔

There are a lot of Harry Potter actors in this film from Madame Maxine as Alice’s aunt, Wormtail- the hound dog, Umbridge was one of the flowers, Snape is easy to pick up because Alan Rickman’s voice you can hear from a mile away, Bellatrix, and Grindelwald. At the ending I was hoping someone in the crowd would’ve noticed the claw marks on her upper arm, the arm is even still red.

Johnny Depp and Helena Bonham Carter are Tim Burton's favorite actors 😉
I don't know if you noticed it but the lines the Mad Hatter says when he travels with little Alice, is the Jaberwocky poem of Lewis Caroll, the author of the original " Alice in Wonderland " what is also what the Cheshire Cat sings in the animated movie.
If you want to know why the Red Queen's head is that big, you have to watch the sequel " Alice Through the Looking Glass ". The answer is in it.

  • @dcemerald70
    @dcemerald70 2 года назад +3

I think this would be like a remake of the original material and a sequel to the original story itself. For the fact that the Red Queen and the White Queen appear as separate characters in the sequel book, Alice Through the Looking Glass. They took the Red Queen and the Queen of Hearts and combined her into Irracubeth the Red Queen. I am so glad that you caught on early about the trope of the fantasy characters being identical to the reality characters; it reminded me of Judy Garland’s The Wizard of Oz. I really hope you check out it’s sequel Alice Through the Looking Glass; it answers some of the questions in regards of certain characters and also shows Alice to confront other obstacles in her life. In a way, this was very similar to Robin Williams’ Hook. There are 2 films I’d like to recommend: a two-part miniseries called Dorothy and the Witches of Oz. It’s very similar to this film and Hook but just with the stories of Oz. The other is a film called Come Away which retells the origin of Alice and Peter Pan as siblings.

Why is a raven like a writing desk?
The author, Lewis Carroll, answered the riddle in an updated preface to the book. He said that a raven is like a writing desk “Because it can produce a few notes, tho they are very flat; and it is never put with the wrong end in front!” This means that both ravens and desks produce notes.

Idk if anyone has given much context to the movie, but it is indeed a sequel to the original books rather than the 1951 Disney movie.
The 1951 Disney movie is really _loosely_ based on the the books. They smushed together the two books (Alice in Wonderland and Alice in Wonderland: Through the Looking Glass) and made it into the 1951 movie.
I would say the modern version is based off more of the books rather than the original, which is what really confuses people as not everyone has read the books. The modern movies makes quite a few references to the poems of Lewis Caroll's work.
If you're interested in the context of the book however you can buy the book fairly cheap or look at some breakdowns of the book on YT.
NOTE: The Alice in Wonderland books are meant for children and have absolutely no congruent storytelling. Its supposed to be weird, nonsensical, and bizzare. It has slight jabs at Lewis Caroll's life, but for the most part is crazy.
And no, drugs were not apart of the making of the book that's just things people theorized throughout the years.

I think more people would enjoy this film if they recognized it as the sequel to the 1951 animated movie that it is instead of a retelling of the original story, I mean it does literally spell out 2/3 into the movie that its years after the original and that the original did happen.

This movie is less an adaptation, or more a sequel. It doesn't replace or change much if anything from the original story, it expants it. Alice RETURNS to Wonderland, where as in the original we saw her first trip (which aparantly landed her in therapy, if some of her lines and the mantra she repeats are anything to go by!). I always really like the story concept of Alice returning to wonderland after having spend some time away from it ^^

I love many Disney animated movies like Bambi, 101 Dalmatians, Fox And The Hound, Lion King, and Aladdin but the original Alice In Wonderland movie I thought was mediocre and could never get into. I’ll have to give Alice In Wonderland 1951 another chance someday though because to be fair I haven’t seen the original in a long time so maybe my opinion will change.
But I thought this remake was terrible and deserved the bad reviews it got. Johnny Depp is a good actor but I didn’t like his role in this.
I respect your opinion though and I’m glad you were able to enjoy something I didn’t. Have you seen The Lion King (1994) yet? Great Disney animated movie to watch if you liked Aladdin 1992. The 2019 Lion King Remake sucked because it was a lazy shot for shot Remake that tried nothing new. At least Beauty And The Beast 2017 Remake tried to change up things.
    But nonetheless great reaction.

From what I understand, the old Disney animation was a combination of Alice in Wonder and Through the Looking Glass and they merged the characters of the Red Queen and Queen of Hearts together. Still a good movie.
This seems more of a continuation of the original stories. And I enjoy this as well.
Oh, and apparently the question, “Why is a raven like a writing desk?” never had an answer, but the author was questioned enough until they made one up, which in my opinion lessens the joke of a question without an answer, but it’s all good.

For some clarification; this really isn't an adaptation of Alice in Wonderland, this is Alice Through the Looking Glass. In the second book; Alice must face off against the Jabberwocky. So in a sense; this is a continuation of the Original Walt Disney's Alice in Wonderland. As for Tim Burton's Alice Through the Looking Glass; that's a continuation of this story he created. It will give you more text and background into why the fraud between the Queens happened, and backstory on the Hatter.

Tim Burton's use of dark /whimsy has always been his calling card 🃏💙BTW The original story of Alice in wonderland was better depicted in this version.👉 Many more characters and elements from the story are included 👉 fact they included her thinking it as a dream, and that part in the beginning with her father asking about the "nightmare " reminds about the 💡theories about the original authors take on dreams. Some say Wonderland could be a world created by dreams. But that is just one of many theories.

I find them really underrated, rewatch them occasionally and think they belong to my favorite live action-movies. Johnny as a Hatter is fantastic, indeed. I don't know if someone has mentioned it already, but he improvised the "I don't like it in here, it's too crowded"-line. It was nice to see you reacting to this.
