    I used to love Overwatch story, but after everything that's happened with Blizzard, I can't bring myself to put up with their disrespect anymore. We shouldn't be okay with the scraps that they're leaving us.

      Understood Alpha. We got excited at a grand, ambitious vision, and after that - whether you see it as a promise, or a goal - it wasn't delivered on. People feeling disappointed either way is understandable. Athough individuals and people creating these things (and there are humans behind it all ;)) never want to see people disappointed I'm sure, it's likely a lot more complex a story than 'CEO bad, Blizzard bad, devs bad, team bad'. Not characterising your response as that, more a reflection on some general social media trains of thought.
      I'll try this personally for the price of a cinema ticket here in the UK, and see how I go after that. If people don't want to go for it, there's plenty of other games available for 15$ that are great value!

    I'm 100% certain the dev teams have put their heart, soul, tears and overtime into this. I'm sure they're hyped to finally be able to present a story focused mode for the Overwatch world and from what I see here it looks fun, they've done a great job. I'm genuinely excited to see you cover it Hammeh as you've been one of my favorite creators concerning OW from day one. But I'm not going to spend a single cent on any Blizzard products for the foreseeable future. As poorly developed as the universe initially was I had so much fun creating and enjoying creative works based on it, it got me through some rough times and was the first both competitive- and FPS game I enjoyed and wanted to get good at. So the heartbreak from the continuous insult that is Blizzards business leads's sheer arrogance and greed frankly makes me physically sick and there's no way I can have fun interacting with anything they put out unless there's a tangible change in attitude (which I highly doubt we'll see this decade). But I do not wish ill on anyone who does feel they will enjoy this, again I hope you have a great time and am excited to see your takes on it. :)

    The nerve they have to consider this a "work in progress" after so many years, after the first announcement hype, and the talk about scrapping PVE... I can’t tell if this whole back and forth when it comes to content promises is a planned and fowl marketing strategy (in a desperate attempt to milk their players' wallets even further) or just a billion dollar company acting like an inexperienced indie dev because the heads of all their departments are incompetent. Wouldn't be a surprise if they lost their most competent workers because they had a shot somewhere else and escaped to a less toxic environment, too. Either way, they can literally AFFORD to do better, for their workers and fans alike. I'm so done with Blizzard's shenanigans. Though some of its characters are still dear to me, I'm afraid OW is dead to me. At least I didn't have to pay for OW2, cause that would've been a waste of my money. I probably just played it for a couple of hours at best before realizing it sucked.

    • @Hammeh
      @Hammeh  11 месяцев назад +1

      I understand people being fed up after all this time and things that have occured. I'll give it a shot at personal enjoyment for 5$ (well, 15$ if you don't count the coins) and see. I hope the experience is well-received enough and enjoyable enough for people to give them reason to make more. If not - they'll either just finish what they have in the pipeline, or just won't make more, period. That'd be a shame.

    • @t.k.5088
      @t.k.5088 11 месяцев назад +1

      @Hammeh I think it's more of a shame for their team, who wasted their time and talent on something that is getting shot down by their own managers and might become a stain on their resume. OW as an fps isn't exactly an innovation, their community is reasonably capable of delivering fancontent of quality and Blizzard's existence, just for having a famous name and loads of money, is inherent likely to rob the space from other devs, indie included, who are more capable and respectful than them towards their work and players.
      That aside, I hope that you and the people who are willing to give them one last shot feel rewarded for your investment... personally, 15$ is waaaay beyond what I'm willing to give them.

      @Hammeh Was quite pleased I think OW2 will always suck you back in in some way because it is a story about hope and the sound design and soundtracks are truly S tier. I was one of those who was literally gagging for PVE ever since I first got the game in 2016. I just get frustrated that OW keeps shooting itself in the foot only to have Mercy scream "OVERWATCH NEVER DIES!!!" and brings them back a bit and suck everyone back in haha. Looks great tbh. I really hope the story works. I have definitely missed Archive Events and missions this year. I love the lore and there is so much potential it hurts lol

      @@darkstar_57 I haven't played since the release of OW2. After feeling like I'd been slapped across the face with the release of a "sequel" that broke all of their promises. Consisting of a few new characters, an even more predatory new monetization model, some minor quality of life changes, and some balance changes taking the game in a very generic direction.
      I don't know if this will be enough to get me to give the game another chance. Overwatch was my favorite game of all time. I played it literally every day for the first few years it was out. I was still playing the summer before the release. I stuck by them supporting the game with my time, money, and voice the entire time while hundreds of thousands jumped ship and trash-talked the game. Never in over 20 years gaming actively have I felt so betrayed by a video game developer.

      @@premiumheadpats4150 In many ways, I completely agree with your feelings. I think the optimism I have for OW kinda dies a little when they do things the way they have been doing them. I'm the kind of gamer who likes box prices. I am not a fan of battlepasses or £20 skins lmao. I find all of that pretty distasteful. In fact I think they sort of managed to ruin one of the more anticipated features from OW1, which was skin reveals. Not saying the team behind the skins aren't doing a great job, cause they are but the price tag is killing the game. On top of the fact that there's no way to earn the premium currency IN the battlepass you buy is nuts to me.
      I am mostly excited because I vastly prefer PvE to PvP. I definitely will give it a shot but if I am not blown out of the water...or at the very least pleased with how things go...I'll just be keeping up with OW through basic gameplay and lore and news channels like Stylosa and Hammeh tbh, as well as a few of my favourite creators (Fitzy and Hoshi).
      As they say, Proof is in the Pudding and OW2 has basically one last chance for some and others have already abandoned it and I cannot blame them at all.

    @eji 11 месяцев назад +3

    Even in OW1 I was never convinced that the game had a fleshed out, coherent storyline... too many conflicting thematic elements... why are there both very robot-y omnics and then super humanoid advanced ones? Are they victims of injustice, or actual dangerous threat to life? There are heroes running around, but at the same time are supposed to be outlawed. Different characters stories sometimes feel like they belong in separate games. There's too many shallow, taped-together plots inspired by other movies/stories that don't really work when mashed together as whole for me, and now that feeling is cemented with the lack of any real story in this one. It's a shame.... it all had such promise at the beginning.

    • @Hammeh
      @Hammeh  11 месяцев назад +2

      Understood eji. I think honestly, when you're building a world in a pvp shooter on the fly in a non permanent world, some of it will be taped together as you go I guess. The PVE/story missions were meant to be the attempt to make things coherent and move it along in game form, story wise. Let's see how these first three do towards that. I've not written it off yet, but I can understand why people either have moved on (as all do at some point!), or would rather not give it a chance or money since recent years.

    • @pilotsayshello1758
      @pilotsayshello1758 11 месяцев назад

      A quick note about the omnic designs.. I don't know for sure BUT I think this has to do with regions.
      Humanoid omnics were probably used in service position in cities. You see it in multiple maps - Omnics that work in service that take on more humanoid features.
      And then there are industrial omnics which were designed as war/defence machines. These omnics were built en masse in factories, these factories got taken over by null sector which is why you only see the more industrial looking ones in combat.
      Service Omnics were integrated into society and seem to be generally unaffected by null sector.
      -
      Also quick note about the heroes, they are outlawed but it seems a majority of them are considered vigilantes. Some more favored than others.

    I'm very fascinated with Overwatch's lore and I'm glad to see it progressing in some form.. but i'll gladly sit back and watch recaps through RUclips.
    As far as I'm concerned there is no reason to play the PvE because the only real selling point of it is it's lore which will be readily available soon after it releases.
    I'm a BIG PvE guy. I love solo play and i really appreciate when games work it into their featureset. I was really excited for the horde mode but with that being gone I just don't have it in me to return.
    Let alone $15 for what we were already getting (for free mind you). I hope at least the new enemy types and weather systems make it into the PvE which I doubt it will but one can hope. I won't be playing it but I hope it satisfies someone out there.

    I think the story has degraded to just being fine. Obviously the team has had to make a number of huge concessions and its just depressing. Long time player since the first beta, and this was hard to watch. Clearly they weren’t working on PvE for those 4 years they had. The lucio boop turret is proof that they had no idea what they were doing. They could’ve charged $60 for a PvE campaign game and I would’ve paid. But $15 for 3 missions? That’s just straight up scummy. This game was a big part of my life since I was 15, I’m now 23 and to see where it’s going just makes me feel sad and disgusted at the company.
