Romans 7:21-25 says, “So I find it to be a law that when I want to do right, evil lies close at hand. For I delight in the law of God, in my inner being, but I see in my members another law waging war against the law of my mind and making me captive to the law of sin that dwells in my members. Wretched man that I am! Who will deliver me from this body of death? Thanks be to God through Jesus Christ our Lord! So then, I myself serve the law of God with my mind, but with my flesh I serve the law of sin.
Using vampires as a metaphor was interesting. “You and I drink the poison from the same vine” you could interpret it in a way he’s saying that the blood is poison because he loves the rush it gives him but at the same time he knows it’s wrong and is slowly losing himself to his more vampire side. “I love it and I hate it at the same time” he loves the rush the blood gives him but he knows it’s wrong. Hiding all of our sins from the daylight, vampires can’t be out at daytime so they’re “sins” are “hidden” “trying to follow your light but it’s night time” he’s trying to be good and give into the light but he’s destined to always be in the dark because he’s a vampire. like a human/vampire conflict
Think from the perspective of that addict you know... Yeah, that one. Your old friend, that uncle you haven't heard from in awhile that everyone whispers about... Shaking hands with the flaming man (addiction), shooting up, (flames creeping up his arm), and he's back in hell. Told my self I won't go there... No one smokes a bowl for the first time hoping to become a junkie. Tellin' myself it's the last time...every. Single. Time. This lust is a burden that we both share... He met the person who got him back into it. There's darkness in the distance... Cuz every time he uses might be the last. Just my take. I've seen this happen many times in my 12-Step life...
