I recently purchased a '96. Mine seems to stay in tune. Using 10-46 strings. It's all cool. The pickguard is cracked down by the jack so I will need to replace.
Yep! I have had mine since '92 and the biggest improvements I made were the tuners and the pickguard. Pickguard is the biggest fail point. I love these guitars!
Wow, that’s maybe the most Gibson-y sounding Fender I’ve ever heard! Even more than a Tele Deluxe or other humbucker fender. Just an amazing crunchy sound!
I did a comparison of this guitar vs the Mustang and the Jag, it was laughable how much different this sounded from the other two and not in the way you'd think.
nice eye George, it as not the best to play because of it. Would absolutely have needed a new nut cut but it's worth remembering this was early on in Mexican Fender factory
@@AudiomoMusic The nut is probably fine, but because of the way the saddles are made, that fourth string is probably caught on one of the height adjustment set screws or the screw hole, or on something where it shouldn't be. Easily fixed -- just move the string over.

Ive had mine since 92 also....i have so many other guitars.....its my go to. every time.
What's wrong with the pickguard?
@@AndreaAustoni it’s just a 50s style 1 piece plastic. It can look pretty cheap and tacky to some people.
I just bought one of these would you be able yo tell me what they are finished in? Theres not much information out about their specs.

The magic of the short scale!!!
Man, listen to those crunchy tones. Who needs humbuckers!

Happy to see that sub count rising!
It's rising a lot more than I had ever anticipated, I still can't believe anyone watches these videos and I sincerely mean that
The tuners need to be upgraded on these to make them gigable
Absolutely. The hardware in general is all really cheap stuff fitting for early fender Mexico
Jim it sounds great!
Thanks Jason! Just wish that neck was a little bigger, thing is brutal to play longer than 10 minutes for me it's paper thin.
Can you please let me know what string brand and guage you have on it?
just regular old ernie ball slinkys, 10-46
Is it just me or is the string spacing terrible on this guitar? I mean it sounds good but it looks off.

It sounds surprisingly good, hope you make a buck with it :)
It's been VERY surprising playing this guitar, wait til you hear how it compares to other short scale fenders
What is the specs?🤔🤷🏾♂️
22.7 inch scale length is the main highlight
