So very nice to see both you and Paul from the other channel in South Africa doing your reviews. Please come and do this more regularly, we here in SA are huge fans of your channel. Greetings from Cape Town.
Glad to see all the Aussie car journos made the trip to Cape Town. Hope you were treaded to some proper wine and a couple of Brandy & Coke's. The rims on the Pan Americana looks exactly like the rims of the current Hilux SR5.
Slightly different in cosmetics but it is built on rangers chassis and slight different suspension. Yes dash altered and infotainment. Fords t6.2 platform same powertrain. Volkswagen have just used Ford to do the heavy lifting rather than spend millions to design there own one. It's a ford with some cosmetic makeover
Looks good but it just seems like VW are targeting a slightly different demographic. Maybe older caravan or boat towing type people who live in cities? Whereas ford have people with surfboards and bikes and people building houses in their marketing. Could it be a case of the white collar ute vs the blue collar ute?
I wonder why they have the idiot wheels on the Pan Americana in the South African model. I'm pretty sure there's even an episode of The Grand tour where Jeremy Clarkson Tried to drive up a grass hill with idiot wheels on and didn't go anywhere.
Looking forward to the real off road test as it seem there's a few new versions of these bakkies, I wanna know which one is the best, still re-watching the 2021 version, hopefully by the end of 2023, Sam.
What was your thoughts on the Style variant? I have pre ordered one and haven't been able to see any interior pictures yet, what was your thoughts on the differences of the seats etc through the variants?
When Ford was building utes for Mazda (previous gen BT-50) the Mazda dealers really didn't know a lot about that product. Now that Ford is building utes for VW, I am guessing the VW service centers and spare parts department will also have similar lack of knowledge with the Ford engine and that 10 speed auto gearbox which is a Ford/Chevy joint venture product. Better to buy a Ford Ranger as the Ford workshops will at least have previous servicing knowledge from their training, and past experience with the Ford Territory TDCi motor, which is essentially a smaller capacity version of the 3.0 V6 diesel.

@@mabonya2917 I mean if he lives there I don’t think he meant to put in America.
Volkswagen maverick
Also volkswagen need to change this pickup truck into suv....
I think this is a disappointment for everyone who was waiting for the release of the new Amarok, only to get a Ranger with a VW badge.

The Ranger looks better.
Nice but not a real VW.

It’s interesting VW have done better with the styling than Ford has.
Ranger looks odd front and back hideous
Ranger has better front. Lol. This looks like the Great Wall Ute.

Looks ok but strangely and I thought I would never say this the Ford actually looks better.
Welcome home ❤️🇿🇦. Enjoy our motherland

Ford VW Yeh Nah.

It 300kg heavier than the outgoing model. Getting into Landcruiser territory
