@Dzeeff I don't know if you are aware, but Team4Star made a Dragon Ball Z parody where Yugi duels Cell, and he tells him that all god cards are banned. I think it comes from there
Nah that sentiment predates TeamFourStar’s video. It’s because the original promo releases of the God cards (the ones with the colored borders and say THIS CARD CANNOT BE USED IN A DUEL).
There seems to be such a huge disconnect between serious players and casual players in this game that the latter seem to see it as an entirely different game, compared to like MTG or hearthstone etc.
It's duel link's fault to be true. See, anybody can play that game with 0 knowledge and come here to dump a stupid comment about their "tactics" how the god cards are soo good (for example). Those aren't even casual players they are just massive morons. (Sorry for my poor emglish)
Oh no I get that, there's casual players like any other game, but then there's casual players who seem to be playing an entire other game with Yu-Gi-Oh

And yes, the entire bus DID clap. Good thing this isn't a pack opening channel or comments like this would be out of place.
I remember hearing about a ban list when I was 10 and thought it sounded like a terrible idea. Now that I'm much older and have watched a lot of Overwatch League, I know how bad games can get when everyone plays the same thing.
I got banned because i had all infinity gems from the gem knight deck in my hand. And then after saying "I am imorbetable" i whipped half of all Meta Decks in the universe. Damn was really sick what happened.
Progression of Dzeefs attitude towards his fans “Why people may think that certain cards are bad” “Why you shouldn’t play these seemingly obviously bad cards” “Why dumb people think these cards are good” “Why people don’t understand Yugioh” “Why people are dumb”
if commenters wanna complain why yugioh card in ocg/tcg is not same as anime....they rather play cardfight vanguard or future card buddyfightif they wanna relive anime moments IRL cuz cards released in thoses game does same as anime counterpart (still suffer animation issue & kinda vague on cost of using card's ability). usually 1st couple of episode is tutorial episodes for that game but each reason release a new game mechanic to push their products. cardfight vanguard only had 1 anime exclusive card "Oracle Guardian, Hermes"...it was early episode of season 1 cardfight vanguard (not the 2018 reboot version that follows manga storyline) and bushiroad confirmed that card will never be a real card.
I would argue against a sweeping statement of saying that if someone refers to a deck as "swarming", they simply don't know how to articulate their descriptions of Yugioh decks. Some it may be that case, but it's a fallacy to say that's always the reason. In some cases the person may simply play multiple card games or play other card games nore often. I for instance play Shadowverse and Duel Links. No, I don't claim to know much about modern TCG Yugioh, but I played a little in the past, I understand concepts, and I tend to use more general game terminology due to not exactly knowing the specific community terminology.
Blue-Eyes Ultimate Dragon was used competitively during the Cyber Stein formats, though it was phased out for Cyber End Dragon or Cyber Twin Dragon which we’re ultimately better with megamorph.
I stopped playing for a while and by only reading the Blue Eyes cards I thought they were actually good, until I started playing again and saw how every opponent with a Blue Eyes deck bricked turn one.
(before saying this I admit I'm fairly casual but I'm trying to get better so correct me if im wrong) but ya blue eyes can brick in your hand a lot, however, in the deck that I have made recently, there are ways to get rid of it, by using a discard 1 card with "The Melody of Awakening dragon" or with a card like "trade in". Also, I think that the deck can get a "Number 95: Galaxy-Eyes Dark Matter Dragon" onto the field relatively easy as all you need is 2 level 8s (With the use of Galaxy Eyes Cipher Dragon, I normally end up getting one Blue Eyes and one Alternative Blue eyes onto the field). With that card you can set up your graveyard to put a "The White Stone of Ancients" Which during your end phase can bring out another blue eyes, Banish 3 of your opponents cards and attack twice, as well as being a big beat stick. Yes, Ill admit that many of these moves have the potential to get Ash Blossomed, and it can Brick (occasionally) It still is a viable strategy in my opinion to at least build a fairly good turn one board, and I have fun playing with it. If there is something I'm missing by all means let me know, I am returning to the game after only playing casually.
Copied a build and didn't take the time to learn the deck synergy? Not saying Blue-Eyes is "good" , but it can be decent with the right build and a competent player.
My biggest issue with players are the type that think LP is sooooo important. When in reality it’s a mana system. Using LP as currency to set of negations like with the Solemn cards is great. “Ew. Paying LP to negate? I’ll just MST!” ...Need I say more?
As a kid I volunteered at a library that set up locals and a couple of small tournaments and the amount of people who didn't understand that the anime and the game are different was staggering, but what do you expect when that's what pulled them in, like for them 2 be able 2 "read" lol
On the school lunch tables, a guy I knew summoned Blue-Eyes Ultimate Dragon as his first turn 1 play, and the guys around me all accused him of stacking his deck. They were so loud, that our principal ended up banning Yu-Gi-Oh! cards from the school.

@@KaitlynTheOreo Dude, those are WAY too many revival cards. 3 Return of the Dragon Lords, 1 Monster Reborn, 1 Silver's Cry, and 1 Soul Charge is beyond fine. Also, even though they're "expensive", I suggest you to play the new support. Bingo Machine, Go!!! definetley refreshes the usual discarding to search strategy that Blue-Eyes has, and The Ultimate Creature of Destruction can definitely be a cool little trap to make you feel powerful when playing the deck. Cause if you don't admit Blue-Eyes is just below Rogue and below that category then you're quite lost, and this is coming from someone who honestly likes the deck and made it as his first deck, but I moved on. Still, hope the tips help. Also, you can definitely work on the main deck a bit more. Maybe playing Kaijus? There are some that are Lvl 8 so Trade-In can deal with it, and also Interrupted Kaiju Slumber feels neat to play. Another option can just be playing Staples such as Called by the Grave, Ghost Belle, Ghost Ogre, etc. And definitely play 1 Skill Drain (it's literally the only major advantage of Blue-Eyes, until it gets Twin Twistered).
@@padawanboricua Hey thank you for taking the time to reply :). I will look at those new support as soon as I can (I don't particularly mind the cost, just $210 for 3 ash is too much for me). I just looked at skill drain and you are exactly right that it fits nicely, and I like the idea of playing kaijus. Hopefully this deck is at least at a rouge level with these changes, as id love to play competitively at some point (Just for the experience, I honestly don't want to top an regionals or whatever, I just want to go and play a deck that has the potential to get some wins, if their are other decks that could be fun to allow that id love to hear them) Thanks again
But it was also a -3 in card advantage and if you didn’t have a blue eyes on the field you needed 4 specific cards in your hand (almost your entire hand size) to summon him. And after all that he could just get bottomless trap holed
Dark hole the field, card advance to see the top of the deck, use the true name to special summon obelisk the tormentor toss him for great maju garzett equip him with white veil attack with 8,000 right into a hand trap and have no cards to play. I like the god cards especially when they are in my opponent's deck : ). There could be a tournament where every deck has to run one of the god cards and after that event everyone would understand how horrible they are.
Whatever man, I’ll have you know I once summoned all three wicked god cards by turn 30, and tributed them for Ra. Then a bus crashed into my LGS, killing me and my opponent instantly, and everyone clapped..
9:31 Blue Eyes Ultimate is not really competetively viable anymore. Stacking the deck is ban worthy, but I wonder if this story is legit. A blue eyes ultimate turn 5 should be fine. Not sure if this story is legit.
The story might be legit in the sense that he was banned for stacking the deck, not for playing that card. What sounds extremely fishy is that someone would think that he stacked his deck to fusion summon that card on turn 5, which is by itself incredibly slow. Is like saying that I was banned for stacking my deck and getting me a zone eater on turn 2. Absolutely busted.
@@padawanboricua Lol hardly. I never meant for anyone to take that seriously. Obviously such a starting hand is almost impossible to come by IRL, and it isn't even good. If anything, it was intended as a joke.
It is probably a small part of the casual community that post this kind of comments, but this kind of casuals really annoys me. When a professional player tells you that something is bad, then it is most likely not something you should put in your deck and hope to see some success wih. I think it is important for casuals to listen to the opinions and explanations that pro players give them. It will improve the overall gameplay of the entire community and also make the game more enjoyable for those casual players. Only by following your channel I was able to find some good advice and even come back to playing yugioh again.
The meaning of the GY and field spells have been incredibly lost. Field spells have just become glorified continuous spells that have 5 effects that don't affect the FIELD they just deck thin and spam out archetypal monsters. The GY has now become the second hand and barely means graveyard anymore, the cards don't stay dead. The Banished zone has now become the original graveyard. Also, konami aren't importing enough OCG vannilla/effect/spell/trap exclusives from the 1999-2002 era of yugioh of the likes seen in tournament pack 1.
Field spells have become a glorified continuous spell since GX era (Clock Tower Prison, Rainbow Ruin and Skyscrapper 2). And I agree and hated the fact that GY has become the second hand. Like almost every single new spell/trap now has GY effect it's not unique anymore. Like you said, banished zone has become the new GY and face-down banish has become the new banished zone.
Weirdly enough, if the God Cards had their Divine Hierarchy effect...well, they still wouldn't be good, but they could be OK. Especially if there was simply a card with no out, like if there were a Ra except it's immune to everything and can't be tributed by your opponent, I think it would see some experimentation as a card that takes a lot of effort to get to but can end games easily? Like, if no monster can kill it I can see it being worth your normal summon just for its non-once-per-turn destruction effect.
See, I don't play competitively anymore so I was surprised when I began buying cards again and I found myself reading entire encyclopedia-length effects so I can see why cards are being banned. I guess power-creeping can't be eliminated but I could be avoided if they made less ultra powerful cards just for the sake to keep the game balanced. We all have a favourite archetype or dueling style and would love to stand a chance against other, more popular ones but really can't because they are too powerful which makes some of us to stick to casual dueling or just quit entirely. I'm more of a collector nowadays but I try to stay on top of trends and fantasize of how the cards would be more balanced... that's the life.
Konami tried that once, and realized its a poor strategy. If they release cards that aren't better than the current meta best cards, then why would we buy it? The only ones that sold during this time period were the ones they overlooked as having game breaking potential. It also made for a very stagnant metagame, only getting more and more stale the more they tried to ban the powerful cards.
I stopped playing in 09 and when I got back on 2017 the no draw first turn really annoyed me while at the same time I'm reading pendulums going "what the heck"
A user posted a comment claiming they were banned for playing Blue-Eyes Ultimate Dragon after five turns? I'm surprised. I played the card turn one once, and I wasn't called out on it.
I don’t know if Doug is one of those people who think the game came first, but all the original cards, mechanics and rules came from the original Manga, the book. Konami didn’t just make them up for the Anime or make up rules themselves, everything was detailed on how to play “Duel Monsters” during the Original and Duelist Arcs, usually on dedicated pages. the Anime gave a ton of Manga vanillas effects and introduced some new support cards for Manga cards, like creating the Chaos series with BLS and CED, but everything else came from the Manga
8:00 Wow, shots fired...the God cards are the definition of style over substance, so yes, they're basically the definition of cool. Also, they might see some play if they had anime effects, let's not lie. Obelisk in Danger!: Special 5 monsters, summon Obelisk who is unaffected by all card effects and who's summon can't be negated, tribute 2 to gain literally infinite Attack: GG. Same with Ra: Tribute 2 Danger Bigfoots and Thunderbird, 8800ATK, pay 7999 LP, 16799 ATK, GG. Slifer sucks though...except if you open with it, and can get it on the field (of course it'd have to also have the anime effects and be unaffected by everything.) Not one or two cards away from making them good? Well, that depends on the cards. If I could make both Gate Guardians and Castle of Dark Illusions good, I'm pretty sure I could make the God Cards good:
What if I told you there are about 40 cards that can destroy an unaffected Obelisk with infinite attack, and they're all from the same archetype? How about that people used to side them all the time? That they still see play depending on the format? Don't believe me? Alright, let's pretend you got out the Obelisk, and you gave him infinite attack. You end your turn, sure that nothing can break your board. I draw, and I utter the words: Gameciel: Obelisk. Oh, looks like I broke your board, and you're out of cards because you wasted them all. Turns out, unaffected by card effects doesn't mean they're immune to Kaijus. The only protection from Kaijus is the inability to be tributed, and the God cards don't have that effect even in the anime. Oh, and it works against Ra. Oh, and it works against Slifer. The god cards are just bad mate. Edit: There is one good god card, and it counters the "anime" card effects you listed as well! Ra Sphere Mode. There goes all three of those terrible god cards at one time.
Seriously, how can you expect them to understand Yugioh when they don't even realize the genius play of negating Upstart Goblin with Dark Bribe?

Nah that sentiment predates TeamFourStar’s video. It’s because the original promo releases of the God cards (the ones with the colored borders and say THIS CARD CANNOT BE USED IN A DUEL).
No, he said bad, not banned.
Even though they are, really really bad
Don't let this video distract you from the *FACT* that pot of desires is a minus 9
There seems to be such a huge disconnect between serious players and casual players in this game that the latter seem to see it as an entirely different game, compared to like MTG or hearthstone etc.
On behalf of the casual yugioh player community, those idiots (daddyzeeff mentioned in the video) are gladly separated from us.
It's duel links casual format's fault I think.
It's duel link's fault to be true. See, anybody can play that game with 0 knowledge and come here to dump a stupid comment about their "tactics" how the god cards are soo good (for example). Those aren't even casual players they are just massive morons. (Sorry for my poor emglish)
Who plays magic when they are 5-7? Nobody. But everyone know dark magician or blue eyes and think they are gods😂
Oh no I get that, there's casual players like any other game, but then there's casual players who seem to be playing an entire other game with Yu-Gi-Oh
Yugi: Toon World is so powerful it couldn't be released!
Real life: pay 1000 LP
Me: well this dissapointing
I got banned from an official tournament after I negated my opponents trap dustshoot with my MST and then stalled out one last turn with a defense position zone eater (which dzeeff still won't admit is top tier because he is still salty about losing to it) to heart of the cards draw the last piece of Exodia on turn 42 to win the duel so I could get my grandpa's soul back.
That intro was amazing

I got banned because i had all infinity gems from the gem knight deck in my hand. And then after saying "I am imorbetable" i whipped half of all Meta Decks in the universe. Damn was really sick what happened.

Hearthstone you draw a card turn one......
Yeah I was gonna say this too, although player 2 starts out with an extra card so the card advantage is the same which is probably what he meant.
It’s because mst negates that’s why no one uses them
if commenters wanna complain why yugioh card in ocg/tcg is not same as anime....they rather play cardfight vanguard or future card buddyfightif they wanna relive anime moments IRL cuz cards released in thoses game does same as anime counterpart (still suffer animation issue & kinda vague on cost of using card's ability). usually 1st couple of episode is tutorial episodes for that game but each reason release a new game mechanic to push their products. cardfight vanguard only had 1 anime exclusive card "Oracle Guardian, Hermes"...it was early episode of season 1 cardfight vanguard (not the 2018 reboot version that follows manga storyline) and bushiroad confirmed that card will never be a real card.
No, I don't claim to know much about modern TCG Yugioh, but I played a little in the past, I understand concepts, and I tend to use more general game terminology due to not exactly knowing the specific community terminology.

jokes aside, pretty funny video. good stuff Doug :)
Brick-eyes.
Yeah, all those Level 8 monsters are just too much to do anything decent with. XD
Actually, that depends on how you build the deck, at least in this case with blue-eyes
Copied a build and didn't take the time to learn the deck synergy? Not saying Blue-Eyes is "good" , but it can be decent with the right build and a competent player.
Why have always thought this was " commentators don't understand " and never questioned it?
When's "My Parents Don't Understand my Career Choices" coming?
My biggest issue with players are the type that think LP is sooooo important. When in reality it’s a mana system. Using LP as currency to set of negations like with the Solemn cards is great. “Ew. Paying LP to negate? I’ll just MST!”
...Need I say more?
Commenters Don’t Understand Why They Shouldn’t Comment
As a kid I volunteered at a library that set up locals and a couple of small tournaments and the amount of people who didn't understand that the anime and the game are different was staggering, but what do you expect when that's what pulled them in, like for them 2 be able 2 "read" lol
Commenters don't understand commenter comments
On the school lunch tables, a guy I knew summoned Blue-Eyes Ultimate Dragon as his first turn 1 play, and the guys around me all accused him of stacking his deck.
They were so loud, that our principal ended up banning Yu-Gi-Oh! cards from the school.

Please do more of these videos. I enjoy them very much thank you.
The original god cards were unofficially banned and the reason for it is the backs of the cards being a different color
True, but they could've used sleeves 😂
They were never legal, plus they had flavour text not actual effects
Yeh well that's what I was getting at lol like I said unofficially banned or never playable similar concepts and I remember as a kid wanting to buy all the god cards XD oh how I have grown smarter...
That intro was borderline experimental
Hey Dzeef Love this video
Also Here is my Deck Profile (not running Ash blossom because its expensive, if I had id replace Effect Veiler with that)

3x White Stone of ancients
1x White Stone of Legend
3x Effect Veiler
3x Sage with Eyes of Blue
3x Maiden with eyes of blue
Spells
3x Dragon Shrine

1x Soul Charge
Extra Deck

2x Azure Eyes Silver Dragon
2x Blue Eyes Spirit of White
(There are more but they are rarely used, Mainly just Hope Harbringer, Heratic Sun Dragon, Alsei, Ancient Fairy Dragon and Michael Arch Lightswore
Also I side a copy of Evenly Matched, Pot of Desires, and Twin Twisters just because I have them extra.
Let me know what you think
@@KaitlynTheOreo dude you literally have 0 links in the extra deck. good luck dealing with gumblar for 6
@@KaitlynTheOreo ash blossom is not 70 dollars its more like 25 lmao
Yea but Blue Eyes Ultimate Dragon was great back in old school yugioh when you could just summon it from your hand without tributes.
Nobody understands Pot of Greed. Just noticed that 'Commenters don't understand Pot of Greed' was the next video on the auto play.
Make this a series please.
AH I see now . So pot of greed actually lets you draw 2 pieces of exodia from your extra deck which is why you need 3 of them .
0:31 Stop lying to us Dzeeff 😡
Welcome to the real world
Leonardo Rivera you’re lying too!
He is most def lying that vanilla monster was ya know never good in any format besides with cyber stein
True story: Neo BEUD turn 1 is quite doable. Kaiba did it with just the OG Blue-Eyes and a Poly in the movie. ;)
@@cameraredeye3115 No offense, mate, but you're one of the many people Dzeef was referring to in the video.
@@padawanboricua Lol hardly. I never meant for anyone to take that seriously.
Obviously such a starting hand is almost impossible to come by IRL, and it isn't even good.
If anything, it was intended as a joke.
Commenters don't understand that I'm not a pack opening channel
Dzeeff doesn’t understand trolls
Well, we have at least found out that the one thing commenters understand is 7 colored fish, so we have that going for us.
Okay that comment you put up 30 seconds into the video - That legitimately made me laugh out loud. And your reply was even more hilarious 🤣
I've noticed with some of these comments Doug is a bit condescending.
Okay, a LOT condescending.
Me, playing a frickin 12 star monster on turn 25: 😏
My opponent: N-NANIIII?! That's impossible!!
"i won a whole match for having 3 complete exodias in my hand, no body stopped me"
ok but i played earthbound immortals at a tournament and got banned because i sacrificed the souls of everyone present
Love your vids, you got me back into yugioh.
How to sum up Dzeeff's channel in four words.
Memes in a channel mean that people enjoy it (most of the time). Definitely keep making these videos, one of my favorite types of videos you do
Just believe on the heart of the card. Start playing *passionate duelist.
I can summon blue-eyes ultimate dragon in five turns and also lose the game in two turns
Slifer sucks though...except if you open with it, and can get it on the field (of course it'd have to also have the anime effects and be unaffected by everything.)
Not one or two cards away from making them good?
