I've been out of High School for over 13 years and have finally decided to enroll in college this semester. I am scheduled to take the college assessment test next week and I found this video out of pure necessity. I am truly grateful for this teacher and this video. He was thorough is his explanation of the simplification process. This is the Algebra teacher I needed in 2003!!

I am in my first year of college and math is really testing my patience lately. I decided to google how to solve negative exponents, and came across your video on RUclips, and this was VERY helpful! I think your approach, of reaching the kids, is something more teachers should aspire to learn. I would have LOVED math in High School if I had a teacher like you. Thank you for helping me work through my negative exponent slump, and I will be using your channel as a go to, going forward! YAY MATH! :)

I will like math by the end of this month. It's a goal.
I have a question. Once I've passed my math test, what are ways to incorporate what I've learned into every day life to maintain all of my hard work? In the past, I would learn concepts for tests and then file them away. How ever, this time around I realize it's important that I not only learn and grasp math for my test, but that I retain it going forward.
Any suggestions would be appreciated. :)

6:20 My match teacher always taught that if an exponent is negative, put it on the opposite side. In this case, the whole number is ALWAYS in the numerator, so he put it in the denominator place. DO NOT MIX THESE PLACES UP! My teacher gives 5 unassisted points per problem. If I do the wrong way on that part, it's instantly a 2.

When you raise a product to a power, you raise each of the FACTORS to that power, not each of the TERMS. This is a huge stumbling block for students. The most common mistake in Algebra is applying this principle to TERMS (which are added and subtracted). Math vocabulary is very precise!
