I love this band! When Michael (lead singer) passed away I was gutted. Such a talented man with an amazing voice gone far too soon. And video was filmed in Prague. Band is Australian.
One of my favorite bands, Australian band. Michael Hutchence was fantastic, great voice and on stage was a wonderful frontman. I was so sad and shocked with his death, i can't still remember the news on TV. They were even better live, if you can, check it out INXS lives at Wembley. I think you'd like By My Side, New sensation, Disappear, Need you tonight, Mystify, Beautiful girl.

I play their music daily. one of my favorites is what you need and I love their Live version they did at Wembley.

My favorite INXS song ! Sadly, I never got into the group back then. But I watched a documentary on Michael Hutchence life along with his carreer. I cried about his passing, and how it all went down. I felt like he died with a broken heart.
And he really was never the same after the altercation with the taxi driver. He lost his sense of taste. Plus he had a gap in a part of his brain as well.
Then his suicide (although some weren't convinced he killed himself) Such a tragic end for this talented young man ! Damn. 😢
They are Australians and the music video was shot in former checkslovakia in Prague, oh man how i am so proud of this song and had grown up in the 80s, and listening to this songs brings good memories!

I saw INXS live 4 times. Loved them as a teen and in my early 20s. Michael's been dead now for 25 years. SO MANY good songs. And their choruses were often unusual. You could even say some songs don't really even have a chorus, like Don't Change, What You Need or even Need You Tonight. This is a great hole to go down

One of my all time favorite bands, We lost Michael Hutchence too soon! I never got to see them in concert at their peak in the 80s. I will always regret. Me and my best friend wore Kick and The Swing albums out!!

Hum… actually we have similar architecture here in Canada… while you can go to Europe, maybe you could visit some parts of Montreal (like the neighbourhood Old Port) or Old Quebec. Definetely a trip through the time. Frequently movies are shot in Montreal to emulate European scenaries (there are lists of notorious Hollywood movies shot in Montreal 😉 ) . This video was shot in Prague ♥️
Love INXS. There was a really cool show called Rockstar: INXS where contestants competed to be the new lead singer (years after Michael passed away). JD Fortune (from Nova Scotia) won, but didn’t remain in the band for very long.

Thanks for this reaction! I still listen to this album to this day. The Kick album came out when I was 11 years old, and I remember it as the first album I heard songs from on the radio and wanted to go buy. Everything else up to that point in my life had been stuff bought for me or stuff my older brother listened to, but Kick was my choice, and I listened to that cassette tape nonstop. The whole album is magic. I got to see them in 1994 just a few years before he passed away and he had so much charisma on stage.
INXS are a great band..for sure check out more of their songs..the Kick album is a great album all the way through.Devil Inside id my personal Fave from it.Just a personal fun fact ..Inxs is the first band I ever bought a shirt for,bought it when the Kick album was out...not my all time favorite band but i loved that shirt so much..i wish i could find another of it today .

INXS were always a favorite of mine, I'd call it funky rock. Another song that has a similar organic growth is Woman in Chains by Tears for Fears. I think you'd like it if you haven't heard it (it's absolutely beautiful). Other INXS songs to react to: Elegantly Wasted, What You Need, New Sensation, Need You Tonight/Meditate, Suicide Blonde, Listen Like Thieves, Devil Inside. They have a lot of great great music to explore. Your thoughtful analysis is really appreciated!

Michael Hutchence was a powerhouse voice in the 80’s and 90’s. So much great music those guys put out. Sadly Hutchence passed away at the height of their career.
You've just listened to one of the best songs ever written. Beautiful indeed. I cannot imagine hearing INXS for the very first time. There are some seriously good rock funk unique tracks that also will have you wondering about song structure and drops. There is a musical genius behind them and a charismatic singer with a vocal range that is simply astounding. Play more, perhaps What You Need is the likely next track but all songs are amaze balls.

Michael Hutchins and INXS are an Australian band. Robert was in a relationship with Bob Geldoff's wife which caused a lot of chaos and controversy. Robert spiralled out of control with drug addiction and eventually was found dead in his hotel room. Was a very sad story for one of the best bands to come from Australia

omfg, the song is literally called "Never tear us apart", and yet when he sings "Never tear us apart" you only suddenly realize that THAT'S the chorus?! Some songs don't even have the chorus until the very end of the song, Stairway to Heaven is an example of that.
Also, how ignorant can you be to assume a singer's nationality based on the way they sing?! You can't hear a person's accent based on their singing! Maybe do research on an artist or band before making assumptions about them!
