Not every kid is going to understand right away, because they are still facing themselves while they face things like love. Sometimes it's so much that it becomes an obstacle even when the answers is in plain view. People find it stupid only because of how long two people are making a simple thing to do, only complicated in their eyes due to their first time facing it. Due to their lifestyle prior, it's obvious that this is something that's outside of Ichigo and Orihime's usual zone. With stuff like that in their heads, when you looks at it from another perspective, it's not surprising they don't realize right away. Only more experienced adults would find this silly, and yet they face something like this from the beginning depending on how they faced it the first time.
