Dude your guitar sounds sic AF, the tone sounds incredible and your playing sounds clean! Sounds very good! I have a bill Lawrence L500XL ordered I can’t wait
hello Ofer ! i have 3 dimebag guitars , washburn dime2st with a dimebucker , Dean dime o flage with wilde bill and becky and dean dime tribute with bill lawrence usa . I love them ! My top 3 pickups is : 1 wilde bill and becky , 2 bill lawrence USA and 3 dimebucker ! i love all of them , the wilde bill and becky is the better pickup , after the bill lawrence usa but less output but nice sounding , and last dimebucker too much output less precision but sound good . thanks for the video . take care.
Thanks for demoing the Bill & Becky L-500XL pickup and your Jackson RR-1 guitar. I enjoyed your listening to your guitar playing & feel and the tone of your EVH 5150 III amp head. I should have not traded away my Bill & Becky L-500XL pickup.
Awesome guitar and amazing playing I know that argument on that pickup very well, love that pickup I've had that same pickup in many guitars i swap it back when i sell. Thanks for the music
Nice playing, brother! I just put a Seymour Custom 78 in my Charvel So Cal. Huge improvement over the Distortion. Glad you're over Covid! Looks like it thinned you out a bit.
Thanks man! The custom 78 is a nice sounding pickup for sure. And about the covid yeah its already way behind me, don't know if my weight loss is connected to it, gotta start working out more though!
@@OferHolan I have a jazz in the neck of my Charvel but it was just laying around & I did t want to pull the 59 I have in my SG (neck). I may put a Seymour alnico II in the Charvel neck, maybe...
What do you like about the 78 over the Super Distortion? I have a Distortion in my 80s Kramer and it sounds pretty good, but I'm going to need something for this 86 Charvel Model 3 I bought.
Terrific video and playing. Tone sounds great but as mentioned mic placement could make it even better. It'd be cool to hear the amp mic, the room mic, and your DI sound for comparison. Excited to try the L500XL in my RR24 \m/
Great playing and great feel bro 👏🏽 love that tone. You should make a video highlighting other tones that pickup can work with if any. For example the master of puppets or anything from countdown to extinction tone.
@@OferHolan Dont take my word for it. I never really used it in the metal styles it was meant for. But yeah as soon as there was a 2nd guitar in the mix, it was a lost cause..
After starting out on Charvel's every other guitar neck dosen't feel right I love the 80s pointy headstock guitars and some Jackson's with 22 frets I find they have more Bite.
Nice guitar., I have one of the original 500's from the 80's Its in my Dimebank. I swap it sometimes..love that pickup. interesting, you wired it backwards?
Nice man! Not wired backwards, I just flipped the pickup, meaning that the bass side is on the high strings and the treble on the lows. This video actually doesn't sound so well because of the microphone positions, maybe I'll make another one demoing it properly.
@@mattreum4271 I really don't know cus I don't have any experience with the Bill Lawrence branded pickups.. legends say Wilde is the original and Bill Lawrence belongs to a guy that legally stole the brand name from the real Bill Larence who eventually founded wilde.
great playing brother. i am impressed on how much the pick up does make a difference assume you used the evh through vintage 30 speakers? i am actually the BB lawrence in a charvel of mine. can’t wait
thanks for responding - crazy how close your dimebag tone is between the neck woods / body style / no eq / no pq3 or pq4 in your sound chain. you can hear the buzz saw dime tone for sure. did you flip the pick up around too? what’s cool you can do nuno bettencourt and dime with this pick up. i’m pairing mine with a bare knuckle vh2. tell you how it sounds.
@@OferHolan put 1 in the bridge and one in the neck and both sound the same, the neck being slightly better. by wired incorrectly do you mean the wrong wire was used as the hot?? i used what diagrams i could find on the 500 xl, perhaps i inadvertantly used the wilde wiring diagram instead of an original bill lawrence one??
@@estelombo Yes that's possible. Try to look for a diagram that matches the manufacturer of your pickups (Wilde pickups or Bill Lawrence). I really don't remember where I got my diagram from unfortunately..
IDK about matching up that XL 500 pickup with the EVH amp because the amp is bright enough already but if you use that pickup into like a crate 212 or ampeg vh140 combo this pickup is awesome for monster Doom !
audio engineer here (this ain’t my real name), I’ve been wanting to get this pick up. You did right getting the bill and becky. It’s a very full range pickup. Actually not a big fan of your tone here much, it’s pretty fizzy and a bit harsh. If I had to guess the microphone placement could be a bit better to get a more full tone. Just my opinion, but great playing. not sure if maybe you have mic angled too much
Thank you! Well I'm not an audio engineer and I had messed up my previous microphone placement and kinda tried different placements until I ended up with this one. I also think I could do better, but just kept it as is out of laziness.. Thanks for the feedback though, I will try and improve it to the next video!
@@OferHolan cool that you responded yeah your vids are sweet. It was just my honest opinion and interesting ahh I can see that then. These are great pickups so I was a bit like dang I feel like these can sound better lol. Thanks man! Always appreciate honest feedback. Its definitely the mic placement, I've got a pretty great sound going in the room, just gotta spend more time positioning the mics. Will do next time!
Nice playing man. Too much treble tho, dime didn't actually use a lot of treble he used a lot of mids amd gain and scooped around 400hz and thats why it sounds like it doesn't have a lot of mids even tho it does...

Cool, didnt know about flipping the pickup! Got an early 90's rr1 with stock bill lawrences, and they really sound thin and dont cut in a mix.
