    Question please, as someone who just started learning mandarin, does the pronunciation of "x" sound closer to an English "sh" or an English "s"? From this video it felt like closer to the English "s" but I'm not sure...

    • @ChinesewithCottoncaley
      @ChinesewithCottoncaley  9 месяцев назад +2

      Hello! Thank you for liking my video. When pronouncing "x", You can try to stretch your mouth (like a smile) and say the word “she” in English. You can see that you are focusing the front part of your tongue, sending the air out with a friction.I hope this could help!

    i am a lil confuse at this when you wrote xiang ..both i and ang are finals so how do we know where we put tone ? do we have to see the sound (tone of the letter then put tone on letter )?.....

    • @ChinesewithCottoncaley
      @ChinesewithCottoncaley  6 месяцев назад +2

      Both of i and ang are finals. So if you see the combination of any initials with iang. You put the tone on “a”. For example , xiāng, liáng, qiáng… If there are two finals, you should put the tone on one of the them. It’s fixed. You will know where to put after you get familiar with pinyin! As long as you see a pinyin and know how to read them, it’s already good!

    Hi, this is a wonderful video but I am confused why "s" and "x" have the same sound, also "q" and "c" is the same, also "j" and "z" are the same sound.

    • @ChinesewithCottoncaley
      @ChinesewithCottoncaley  7 месяцев назад +3

      “z” “s”sounds like “z”ip and “s”ad in English. “c” pronouncing the same way as “z”, but the only difference is that you have to send the air out more! “j” focuses on the surface of your tongue, the front part of tongue is raised to the palate. “q”pronouncing the same way as “j”, but try to send the air out from your mouth. “x” your tongue is not touching the palate.
