There are also differences in perception as you spend time and try out more stuff. I used to not be able to tell leaf ping on tactiles but now it is clear as day to me. You get more sensitive as you try out more things. Things like the feel of the plate are more subtle and to be honest a lot of hype is built on gasket mounts. Lubing, switch choice and keycaps have a bigger impact on typing feel. On stabs, same feeling. We've sent man to the moon but we don't have good stabs lol. Try out the holee mod. @@CaloysKeyboards Every video on the kbd67 lite, yours included, has made me more excited for this board to arrive. The anticipation is holding the "curse" off, but once it's in my hands, I'm sure I'll go looking for keycap sets and drain the bank account. Thanks again!
Solid video man! The whole via thing is HORRIBLE, I always have trouble getting the binds right for my client builds hahaha. And regarding stab ticking, definitely take a look at holee mod (hamaji neo has a tutorial) and epsi mod (from epsilon) both provide more permanent solutions to stabilizer modding, assuming you do the other required stab tuning methods (lubing housings and wire, wire balancing, band aid mod if it’s a silent board, etc.) And as for typing feel, it’s much more subtle than people would have you believe unless we’re talking about going further towards the ends of either extreme. I find softer typing feels perfect for long sessions though; I went from having finger pain from typing on a tray mount with a brass plate after long typing sessions (I write a lot of papers haha), but that is literally a non issue with my current board (top mount w/pom plate). To me the difference is immediately noticeable, but perhaps I’m sensitive to it. Usually a softer typing feel will come more from the plate being flexible and having flex cuts and the pcb also having flex cuts. Gasket boards can be flexible but it’ll come down more to the plate and pcb you go with, as tray mount boards can be softer than gasket mount boards depending on the pcb/plate config. Eg, a brass plated gasket board with no flex cuts will be stiffer than a plateless tray mount. But, despite that stiffness, the gasket will feel and sound more consistent if implemented correctly. Also in the case of the kbd67 lite there isn’t a whole lot of flex; mine doesn’t arrive till may but the pcb doesn’t have cuts, there’s silicone between the plate and pcb, stiffening the assembly, and the plate, although flexible, doesn’t have cuts. So a softer typing experience for sure, but not incredibly so, and not exactly a flexible one either. Anyways, sorry for the fucking paragraph lol. Great quality on the content, hope to see you pop soon!
Thanks so much man! I just spent hours trying to get a VIA macro to type the peso symbol (₱) lol. Had to use an external program called WinCompose in the end. I'll definitely try the holee/epsi mod whenever I get a new board hehe. I appreciate the paragraphs! Lots for me to learn and experience still. Hopefully I'll get to try different plates and mounting systems and boards so that I can see for myself hehe
Thanks for the review. I'm probably going to get on the R2. Not sure which colour to get though ugh. Don't let the shitty comments get to you man, you're doing great.
The way this keyboard is designed, you won't feel much of a difference, that's why it's only $100. This is also true for other "budget" keyboards like the GMMK PRO. For the RGB, use QMK to flash the VIA firmware (kbdfans_kbd67_mkiirgb_v2_via.hex) from VIA website, then you can map the RGB keys correctly when you connect it to VIA. Mine was the same way, actually I couldn't change the RGB keys at all. Also, be sure to grab the latest drivers from QMK by right clicking on the QMK tool and select "get drivers" or something like that.
I had a similar issue with VIA lighting. Seemingly re-flashing the PCB’s default firmware via QMK tools fixed the issue and all of the VIA buttons corresponded to the correct action.
Kailh Hotswap sockets are meant to be supported when inserting switches NOT due to the flex of the PCB, but to ensure that the individual hot swap sockets do not pop off the PCB. If the metal pins aren't perfectly straight, there's risk that inserting them will pop out the socket, which will be a whole headache to fix.
Ohhh I think I've heard this. Didn't know it was due to the pins. Have they improved on this? It seems like it's a very rare occurrence. I myself have put in switches with legs a little slanted (with no support on the socket) numerous times and have had no issues. Or is it just a matter of time? 😨
@@CaloysKeyboards It's a wear-and-tear type of deal, and also completely random since the Kailh hotswap sockets are soldered en masse. It's best to support your hotswap socket with your finger, or another hard surface when inserting switches to try to mitigate this from happening. However it's 100% possible that you'll throw 100's of switches into hotswap sockets and never encounter this, but there's also the other end where people do end up popping out sockets. Your mileage may vary.

I have to know where you got that desk mat man, it looks cool beans :) also the keeb sounds great! I also agree with you on not being able to tell a difference in typing feel, but it might just be because we both type pretty light lol
You don’t (shouldn’t) have to hold hotswap sockets in place while swapping. That’s a concern if they’re improperly installed or if the switch pins are bent, which can dislodge the sockets, but normally it’s fine to just use them as you would expect
Yeah I do a lot of removing and mounting and removing and mounting of switches on keyboards for the various sound comparisons I do in my videos so I just do not have the time (or patience lol) to be dismantling them just so I can support the sockets. So far so good. Never popped a socket lol

Great video and very informative. I had the same issue with those KBDFans stabilizer sticky things and Durock V2's with my DZ60RGB V2 PCM. The fit was too tight and it put pressure on the PCB with installing them. I simply removed them and cleaned it up with some rubbing alcohol. Stabs are tha bain of my life too. @@CaloysKeyboards btw I just removed my PCB from the case and tested a few of the keys. I confirmed the outer top switches are not as thocky compared to the rest so this rules rules out the case and most likely due to the physics of sound.

I've gotta agree with you about stabilizers in general bro! Thanks for a great review :D excited for my R2 to come at the end of next month. Any tips to speed up time? xD
If you have a foam layer between plate and pcb that would be contributing to the lack of feel. If you let some air between the plate and pcb it should let that PC plate do its thing much more than with the gap filled. Obviously sound will change but imo worth the experiment.
@@CaloysKeyboards I totally thought it was optional. Like when you order you have the chance to leave it out so I kinda assumed. Dont have one myself....yet.

This does sound good! If you ever want another beautiful board that will sound amazing with some durock POMs or any switch really…. But definitely the POMs, then get a bakeneko 60 from cannon keys! The only other switches that I really just fell in love with are the gateron X switch which are a bit thocky and deep, or the amazing Gateron CJs which are smoother then inks with out lube 🤷🏼♂️😬 I don’t even know how they so good …. But I still keep my all black bakeneko 60 board, with black and white durock POMs, double shot ABS black keycaps with white legends at my main PC all the time!!! I keep swapping it out and then going right back to that beautiful marble sound with the smooth POMs 🥰🔥🔥😋😋 the bakeneko 60 really brings out the sound of the durock POMs and with it being a gasket mount the long pole bottom out is a little less abrupt and really nice!
wth it just hit me, people who live in Parañaque had it worse when typing their addresses, same with people who live in barangays with the name "Sto. Niño" in it lol thankfully smartphone internal keyboards already have them layered on the hold function
I've got the KAT Alpha keycaps on it right now and it weighs 644 grams. My favorite keycap set and switches so far are the ones in the first typing test: the Geekark PBT Black on White and the Durock POM Linears. But keep in mind that I haven't tried a lot of either yet. I've yet to try GMK or ePBT. I've only tried four switches: Outemu Blues, Gateron Yellows, Durock T1s, Durock POMs.
I just built this board and the only problem I have with this build is installing durock v2 stabs.. Every stab is great except the spacebar. It seems to rattle and i've tried everything.. any idea?
@@CaloysKeyboards I've tried relubing the whole thing for hours with the same result.. I've been told to look into modding the stabs. Did you perhaps mod your spacebar?
@@igieswainebragt What kind of lube did you use? I used 205g0 on the housing and dielectric grease on the wire ends. People say great things about them. Check out the guides by Keybored and Hamaji Neo 😊
No just normal number input throughout the day: calculator, budget spreadsheets. I developed strong muscle memory with the numpad. The number row just feels awkward lol
I haven't tried that one, unfortunately. Based on reviews, I think it depends on what you prioritize: soft bouncy feel or thocky sound. Also down to your preferred layout. I personally can't go under 65%
Oh, I thought of that too lol. Like you'd just need two switches on either end of a long key, right? I'm not sure what consequences that would introduce.
@@CaloysKeyboards yeah, it is hard to find switches that are really light and good nowadays. if you put two 60g it would be a nightmare to press on a 120g
If a keycap set isn't in production, it makes no sense to pay an extra $200-300 on the aftermarket to buy a set. You're not supporting the original creator in any way by buying those sets. @@CaloysKeyboards btw I just removed my PCB from the case and tested a few of the keys. I confirmed the outer top switches are not as thocky compared to the rest so this rules rules out the case and most likely due to the physics of sound.
Love the sound of that durock pom
Hi sir! I just flashed my kbd67 lite however i can't toggole the RGB on and off. Or even change it. On my second layer which should have the functions there's no FN key or something :(
im getting those durock poms for my id80. still on an integrated plate but hopefully soon i can get a gasket board for cheap to try. great review btw, i also have one board but i feel like you had some good info here
Just saying that because if the fact there is a ton of silicone, the gasket doesn’t really affect the flex much.
Great prod man! Very in-depth review!
Dude im watching this as commenting, really great review from someone who only has two boards! Gives a different perspective especially from someone starting out, and right on about the curse!
Board sounds awesome too man
Plus i get you man, i get into bouts of Anxiety every now and then, thats the reason a moved from Photography to keebs.
I've gotta agree with you about stabilizers in general bro! Thanks for a great review :D excited for my R2 to come at the end of next month. Any tips to speed up time? xD
Regarding your lighting problem. Try to do a reset by holding the esc key then plug the usb c cable.
If you have a foam layer between plate and pcb that would be contributing to the lack of feel. If you let some air between the plate and pcb it should let that PC plate do its thing much more than with the gap filled. Obviously sound will change but imo worth the experiment.
On this keyboard, there's a silicone layer and unfortunately it's part of the mounting system so it's not optional 😅
@@CaloysKeyboards I totally thought it was optional. Like when you order you have the chance to leave it out so I kinda assumed. Dont have one myself....yet.
Yeah I probably should have mentioned it in the review. Oh well lol
@@CaloysKeyboards are you 100% sure you CAN'T go without it? I would doubt it's required considering it is optional in the purchase process. Also in my experience no keyboards have required plate foam but a lot offer the option.
@@djd34d14 Hmmm pretty sure. The gaskets are part of the silicone. I checked the product page and it's extra silicone and extra foam that you can opt out of hehe
I keep swapping it out and then going right back to that beautiful marble sound with the smooth POMs 🥰🔥🔥😋😋 the bakeneko 60 really brings out the sound of the durock POMs and with it being a gasket mount the long pole bottom out is a little less abrupt and really nice!
where did you get the desk pad? awesome video !
Thank you! All of my deskmats are custom printed with my own art 😁
@@CaloysKeyboards awesome! nice work!
subscribed great video, what is your mic btw?
Hi Caloy, my kbd67 lite had the same issue with VIA as well. I skipped VIA and just use QMK lol.
wth it just hit me, people who live in Parañaque had it worse when typing their addresses, same with people who live in barangays with the name "Sto. Niño" in it lol
thankfully smartphone internal keyboards already have them layered on the hold function
Yeah it wasn't so bad with a numpad. I just had to memorize the ALT 164 code lol
How much does it weight fully built? What is your favourite keycap set? And what is your favourite switch in terms of smoothness?
I've got the KAT Alpha keycaps on it right now and it weighs 644 grams. My favorite keycap set and switches so far are the ones in the first typing test: the Geekark PBT Black on White and the Durock POM Linears. But keep in mind that I haven't tried a lot of either yet. I've yet to try GMK or ePBT. I've only tried four switches: Outemu Blues, Gateron Yellows, Durock T1s, Durock POMs.
@@CaloysKeyboards thank you for feedback, ill be waiting for gmk and epbt reviews
Sorry to hear about people attacking for no reason. It’s easy and not nice to talk behind a screen
I just built this board and the only problem I have with this build is installing durock v2 stabs.. Every stab is great except the spacebar. It seems to rattle and i've tried everything.. any idea?
Hmmm maybe a bent wire? What have you tried exactly? Hehe
After a few days it started ticking so I injected some 205g0 to add to the dielectric grease and that fixed it. I didn't do any mods like the holee or epsi. You could try those. People say great things about them. Check out the guides by Keybored and Hamaji Neo 😊
@@CaloysKeyboards I used 205g0. Alright, I will check them out. Thanks a lot!!
Why do you miss the numpad? Do you use number-heavy software?
No just normal number input throughout the day: calculator, budget spreadsheets. I developed strong muscle memory with the numpad. The number row just feels awkward lol
Hello! What kind of mic do you use? ang crispy ng tunog
@@CaloysKeyboards just searched it on shopee. very affordable pala! do you do any edits on the A-rolls? The quality is just so nice
@@CaloysKeyboards Thanks! Would probably upgrade to this from my cheapo lav mic for recording.
i agree. stabs are the bane for my building in mechanical keyboards hahaha
Holee mod's worked well for me but even that took a lot of trial and error to get just right hehe
Hi sir! Would you say this is better than the bakeneko60?
I haven't tried that one, unfortunately. Based on reviews, I think it depends on what you prioritize: soft bouncy feel or thocky sound. Also down to your preferred layout. I personally can't go under 65%
THIS IS R2?
hmmmm, why not just put to really lite switches and disable one instead of stabs, It will probably reduce rattle a lot.
Hey man what mic did you use for the sound tests?
It's the Samson Go Mic, same as the one in the voice over parts hehe
@@CaloysKeyboards Thanks dude, keep up the good work. Video was really good!
Thanks thanks!
If a keycap set isn't in production, it makes no sense to pay an extra $200-300 on the aftermarket to buy a set. You're not supporting the original creator in any way by buying those sets. Buying clones in that case is 100% ok and to be honest even recommended as it allows the hobby to be more accessible.
There are non-clone keycap set options though. It's not either GMK or clones. I guess if you really want a particular GMK colorway 😅
Honest review nice 👍
can you share your hex file?
Oh no. The one I used is "kbdfans_kbd67_mkiirgb_v2_via.hex"
I also flashed an incorrect one on my first try. The filename for that was "kbdfans_kbd67_rev2_via.hex"
@@CaloysKeyboards thanks! Will double check
did u film the switch
Yes for the Gateron Yellows. No for the Durock POMs.
Dude, what is your mic?
Here, it's the Samson Go Mic but I've since upgraded to a RODE NT USB Mini 😊
Just subbed , awesome videooo
sheeeesh that KAT set
sheeeeeeeeesssshhhhh
why do you type so quietly. Kinda unsatisfying lmao
Lol sorry. I'll be sure to include some Kailh Box Jades in the next one. I kid, I kid 😂 But in all seriousness, I am a pretty light typist. And this 'board is somewhat muted so if it's volume you're after, this ain't it hehe
i agree this community is pretty toxic
