That was a fine review, Tone! Your enthusiasm came across as if you actually were there! I've done a 180 degree turnaround on Paul live. I now agree that it's all about celebrating a pretty remarkable life, both creatively and historically and not about the quality of his voice. All I've had the chance to hear so far is Now And Then, and was definitely pleased with it. His voice has been much better since Glastonbury and yes, usually it takes him several gigs at the beginning of a tour to get his voice strong enough to not get slammed by the average person. Great that he came out of the gate mostly strong. You definitely hit on something that some people just don't understand: Linda was his life mate and was taken from him way too early. He is now singing these songs that she inspired and contributed to all these years down the road. It's got to be an emotional experience for Paul to have to basically be the last one standing and doing a 3 hour show basically paying tribute to so many loved ones and former band mates that are no longer here, especially when the rear projection videos are there as a constant reminder. Fingers crossed for a Lennon One To One set and a nicely refurbished Concert For Bangla Desh. Maybe Peter Jackson can use AI to get Ringo to remember the words to It Don't Come Easy 😉

Thanks very much Pete, glad you enjoyed the video. Yes his voice is definitely holding up better since Glastonbury. I honestly cant believe that at 82 years old he flying half way across the world and plays 3 hours singing and playing is heart out. Im 21 years younger and doubt I could even stand up straight for 3 hours ! It must be a toll on him physically and emotionally. haha re Ringo comment , imagine how many words he forgot in the performance that they didnt use !

Hi Tone, as I told you I was there, on the Estadio Centenario, where the first World Cup was played in 1930, on sound check and concert, with my wife, after cancer operation this was a great "happy day" for me and I'll never forget. The sound was amazing, some sound people said it was one of the finest gigs the way it sounded. Paul was in great mood, very happy, very emotional with the crowd, and he sang for the first time ever "Now and There", here in Montevideo, the reviews were super positive. It's true the voice is not the same as on "One hand clapping" but 50 years passed, and he still give us the feeling, the emotion, all that he always gave to all of us. This was the "last dance" for me seeing him, and he gave me a lot of hope for the future when at the end he said as always "till the next time". Thanks Paul you're family to me, I love you.

So great that after your ordeal you got see this and the soundcheck. I did wonder if this was the same venue as the 1930 World Cup final Uruguay v Argentina, right. No words to describe what Paul is on stage, his energy, his charisma, his love for the public, it's all a fantastic blend that makes you feel magic is real. That was a great review I loved it. I’m glad the song now and then was added to his Setlist. and I love Ob-La-Di, Ob-La-Da it’s one of my favorite songs from my number one favorite album ever the white album actually gonna pick the white album is my number one favorite album ever not just the Beatles album either and I remember me and everyone else sang it back in 2016. I felt like I wasn’t Beatlemania in the way because when Paul McCartney did songs like love me do and all those early Beatles songs there was one girl that was screaming in which was great back in 2016 and when Paul McCartney asked us how many of you are from Portland Oregon and we all screamed that was before he did love me do and I remember back in 2002 when I first saw Paul McCartney live well actually I heard him live back in 2002 he did maybe I’m amazed that his voice was really good his voice was fantastic throughout the whole show and also the 2016 show as well and one of the songs I remember he did he did a really good acoustic version of you won’t see me although he sang it in a different key the original songs in the key of A major but he sang it a few steps down in the key of G major which worked. And that’s interesting that I’m looking Through You was not in the Setlist but I think he might struggle through that one now. my feeling is being a huge Beatles fan that I am I will be so glad to see Paul McCartney again it wouldn’t matter to me whether he could hit those notes are not his whole band is really amazing what an amazing band they are in Paul McCartney’s musicianship is wonderful. I think for those who like to pick on artist to lose their voice don’t quite understand what the artists are going through when you’ve sung many different songs live and you’re trying to hit all those notes. for those who have a problem with Paul McCartney‘s voice because he’s struggling they shouldn’t go you are absolutely right on that one.

Hi Tone. Nice video on Pauls recent South American appearances. Its terrific a man of his vintage continues to travel the world playing to many thousands. His energy levels are indeed remarkable. Yes his voice isnt what it once was. Im 65 and cant do a lotta things i could when i was 45. So, to anyone attending...go along and enjoy a genius...legend...a man of our times doing his thing for you. I've seen him 3 times...1979, 2008 and 2018 and shared those memorable evenings with people who mean so much to me. Love the jumper Tone! I bought the exact same one second hand off ebay and it arrived the other day, bought it with the intention to wear it to the gig in December, we might end up matching! It'll be your 23rd gig and my 3rd, I'm coming for your record!
Totally agree with you about people complaining about his voice. It didn't cross my mind for a second when I saw him last year whether or not his voice was spot on because for those 3 or so hours you're in the same room as him, it certainly sounds pretty perfect.
Loved watching some clips from the first gig on this third leg of the tour, even got all teary during Now And Then which I didn't expect, just seeing the footage on the back screen was very emotional, and the timing to have him singing at the exact same time as himself on the screen was phenomenal!
As per your question in the video, I am going to the 19th of December gig (😉) - although I am trying to see if any are going for the 18th as well! Just 77 days until the 19th, getting very excited!

Can’t believe he’s persisting with Come On To Me over anything from McCartney III.
I agree with everything you said about his voice, and how little the loss of power matters in the moment. That said, sitting in a cinema last weekend watching One Hand Clapping, the contrast in performances of Maybe I’m Amazed and 1985 do became starkly evident.

Hi Tone... Totally agree with your take on Paul's concert voice. In the magic of the actual moment, just seeing and hearing the legend himself perform these songs, his voice is fine. He may not have the range that he had 60 years ago, but he still sounds like Paul McCartney, and the band recreate the songs brilliantly. And yes, there are tons of songs in Paul's catalog better than "Come On To Me" -- I can think of at least a dozen on just Egypt Station and McCartney III that I'd rather hear. ("Deep Down" with a live horn section and Abe on drums would absolutely kill.)
Enjoy the show in December. I'm sure it'll be fantastic.

All the comments on videos from the last few years about how sad it is to hear his shot voice are quite comical and a tired old cliché. He's 82 years old and can still sell out large venues and have the audience rocking and weeping with emotion in equal measure. Even the younger audience (some look like teenagers) are absolutely transfixed. He's not living on past glory. He knows exactly who he is, how he sounds and what he's doing, and when he can't do it he'll stop.

TONE!!! Lovely to see back on schedule with new videos. You’re looking great!
As I watched Andy and Tom, with Joan, I asked about the Archive Edition page in the official program book. They said it would be addressed later, but I guess I got distracted or they didn’t get to it.
So, my friend, has anyone said anything to you about whether or not that Archive page was removed, or updated, or whatever? I need to know 😢
As for the tour; honestly, I’ve never seen Paul in concert in my life. Even this trust fund girl just won’t spend $1000 to see anyone in concert. I’d rather see the concert film or concert vinyl. But I’m very happy you and “the gang” experienced MACCA tours.

Without that info we cant be sure that the current tour book isnt simply a reprint of the Leg 2 tour book and therefore we have no further clues . Hopefully some one will confirm that something new is also in the new book which gives us hope that the archives are still alive

Couldn’t agree more about the nonsense of the Paul should retire crowd. Give it a rest. He’s 82. We all hope he has plenty of years left but even if he lives to be 100, the touring will probably stop sooner than later. I am surprised he’s leaving come on to me in. I don’t even mind the song so much on the album but there are so so so many other songs he could do. We know one of his favorites is daytime nighttime suffering. He could substitute that and maybe people who don’t know that one would want to seek it out later. Like for you, now and then was a total surprise to me. And from the clip I saw, he added some unseen videos to the screen. I saw the she’s a woman clip and was surprised how good he sounded on it. It’s a hard vocal. He still does some tough vocal songs that he doesn’t have to. And back to back with got to get you into my life no less. I wouldn’t mind him dropping my Valentine but I guess he wants a song in there for Nancy since he’s singing maybe I’m amazed. Anyway…. Take care

Unfortunately when young, The Beatles, particularly PAUL, would take songs that require a strong yet loud vocals, similar to American Black performers of the day such as their idol Little Richard, and when you're in your 20s you can sing them probably into your 40s, but in Paul;s case, 60 years of singing at the top of his lungs is not something he can continue to do. Of the 4, the one that always sang at a comfortable pitch was Ringo, which is why he can still sing "Yellow Submarine" without much effort, plus with the All Starr Band, he only has to front maybe 25% of the show, and not 50% with The Beatles, or 95% when solo or with Wings, as Paul did. Same thing happened to Paul Stanley of KISS, in which he sang 70% of the songs, and Gene Simmons sang 20% and the other 2 the remaining 10%. Today Paul Stanley can't sing at all and Paul McCartney's ability has been seriously hampered. I think in a way this happens because no band ever thinks they're going to be recording and touring for the next 50 years. They all think (most are correct) that they'll last at most 10. So they compose and sing these songs in such a way that they demand a strong voice.

    • @beatleytonesbeatleschannel

Worth every penny Roy. This is the cost these days for any artist of this stature

Ive been a McCartney fan for 48 years, Ive all his albums (Solo & Beatles), I saw him live on his Back On The World & Good Evening tours but Im not going to delude myself into believing his voice is anything but terrible now. Ill remember him as he was thank you. I think he is ruining his legacy with these shows. Just because he is putting in the effort doesnt make it any better.

That's fine Gerard however when you see 2 million (or whatever it is) tickets sell out in under and hour for an entire tour of stadium gigs, I think we can safely say that no legacy has been ruined. there is a greater thirst to see him now, than there has ever been

A Hard Day's Night was 100% written by Lennon. WhyTF is he singing that? 'Let It Go'...yeah right, he needs to let it go.

Oh leave it out pal. Not 100% Lennon anyway, Ringo came up with title for a kick off. But generally your sillyness is irrelevant - he didnt write Something either or 20 flight rock. Like i said in the video people who can’t accept it for what is should stay at home and listen to the records and in your case you can skip all the McCartney tracks as you’re clearly a hater.

Why shouldn't he ?! If he wants to do a John song he can do it if he likes .
