Basically the best movie ever.
This is a story about a girl named Amélie whose childhood was suppressed by her Father's mistaken concerns of a heart defect. With these concerns Amélie gets hardly any real life contact with other people. This leads Amélie to resort to her own fantastical world and dreams of love and beauty.
The soundtrack alone is a reason to watch this movie
I've only seen the poster of the movie till now, always thought it would be scary because the way she smiles and the colors used were eerie.

The funny thing is as much as I dig high quality movies like Amélie I still enjoy dumb explosions by Michael bay. There's a difference between over praising something and enjoying something.
I have celebrated my 30th birthday in Paris. It was my best 4 day holiday and my best ever birthday. One year after, i saw the film and i was crying and shouting " i've been there ! " every 10 minutes during the entire film.... It has become a tradition of mine now. Celebrating my birthday in a different country in a different city wondering around, taking pictures, meeting people, seeing the world(searching for my treasure and Fatima-alchemist quote). It was soo cool, i was on the Arc De Triomphe on my birthday opening champagne and at 20:00 the Eiffel Tower lights went on just as i had raised my glass of champagne =)
how does this trailer give too much away; I haven't seen the film and I don't even know what is happening.

Fantastic film, very artistic, superb sountrack and Audrey is sublime.
Still one of the greatest movies ever made, nothing matches Amelie's brilliance.

Analysing it from a photography perspective I'm noticing a repeating restricted green, deep red and blue tone throughout.
lol. that was intentional. there is a commentary version where Jean Pierre Jeunet talks about every scene and evrything in the movie while it is playing. one of that was the cinematography part where you are right about the mixture of red, blue and green. it s through out the film.

You know, I was doing so many horror marathons before i watched this movie, so I thought that was just me - there were so many parts in this movie where she looked at the camera and i just instinctively hid my face. >_

That 'break the 4th wall' thing they did on the bike is startling and awesome. I dont really make time to watch movies but I tuned in to a watchmojo episode that showed this scene and it actually makes want to see this .

I'd say to anyone who wants to watch the film and checked this trailer out to see if it might be worth watching, don't watch it right away, distract yourself with other things for at least a month, then, if you hear about this movie again, watch it. Just give yourself time to forget what you have seen here.

I've been in 'Cafe des 2 Moulins' in May 2014. It looks nothing like in the movie (that was obviously a sound stage in a studio) but in the toilet area they made a little Amelie Museum which is really cool :)
It was shot there- but it's been totally renovated, and now hardly looks like the same place.

I watched it cold earlier this year. It was on sale in iTunes. By cold, I mean I knew nothing about it. From the beginning to the end, there was so much to see and hear and it was all good. I judge a movie primarily by how many times I want to see it again for stuff I missed and for the pure enjoyment. I have watched it 3 times now and I never get tired of it, even knowing what is going to happen, I await for the scene to develop. Some movies I thought were great, like Pulp Fiction and Apocalypse Now Redux, but could not take it a second time. Amelie is something to enjoy and savor, like a fine wine.
I've been traveling in blistering winds, scorching deserts, through the dragons cave,and up to the room of the tallest tower just to find this movie online.WHERE CAN I WATCH THIS?!?!?!?!

This movie was actually pretty good. I loved the cinematography and the score was simply mesermising. I highly recommend this movie because of it's unique potrayl of a romantic comedy.

drinkallthesunshine Basically, Amelie is incredibly shy due to neglect in her childhood. One day she decides to start doing good deeds for people, but because she's so shy she creates elaborate schemes in order to do the good deed without being associated with it.

I really wanna watch this movie. We talked about it in my French class, since we talk about French pop culture a LOT. I wish we could watch it. Too bad it's rated R.
Well, honestly it's probably rated are because of a few brief sex scenes (I can count three) that never give much away (I mean really, just the back of naked people or a boob somewhere), but if it disturbs you I get that. It's a truly amazing, beautiful and unique movie though so if you can get passed that do watch it ^^

The taking of the key, the hit in back of the head, the running down a street and banging into a couple, the sword, the rock breaking a window, the obsession of her lover, the poisoning of someone, the barista she was. Odd coincidences.
This movie couldn't be more unrelated to that case.

I believe it's about an introverted women helping thoes around her to make there lives better without taking credit. But wont help herself because she to shy. It's a great movie. It's best for you to understand by watching.

It's one of my favorite films, you really should give it a try.

the plot itself is filled with ties on a quirky girl's unique approach to making the lives of the people around her more uplifting and exciting. its filled with artistic metaphors on emotional psych, which is shown in an goofy and eccentric tone. when I finished it with my parents, I told them it was a pleasantly strange movie. it may be hard to embrace at first, but at the end of it you'll know whether it appeals to you or not. Good luck!

I'm wondering whether to watch this, I'm an English speaker and my French is very poor, what is it about?
The dvd is with English subtitles anyway, and after a few moments you don't really notice - you're too busy enjoying it :) It's the story of a young woman who, following a string of circumstances, goes on her merry way of helping others, finding herself, and finding love. I don't want to say too much, but it really is worth your time :)
