- I play every carnival game at this amusement park Kennywood to see how many prizes we can win, and to see if I can give every single prize away before the park closes! I play games like bank a ball, goblet pitch and carnival games where you have to knock blocks over to win a giant prize. On the bank a ball game, something weird happened!

i won on the ring toss this year at the local amusement park north of me.

That final throw was probably the most interesting win the carnival guy has seen yet. Way to get it in at the end.
The problem on the game at 10:20 is that you threw the ball too hard because the momentum is carried over to the bounce. If you throw it less hard, the ball doesn't have enough energy to bounce back so far
The ball gains so much kinetic energy from the throw and the bounce is increased that it falls at and bounces from the target.

Love the enthusiasm! I remember playing these games when I was younger. I would win at the games, but it costed me a lot of money. I would act cocky when I would win, until someone burst my bubble by telling me that the prizes only cost the makers a couple of bucks. Made me feel pretty silly. Your generosity is great to see.

If you look closely at the cups on the 2nd goblet toss you can see that the winning cups are very slightly higher than the loosing ones.I've no doubt that makes it much less likely to drop into one of them.
I noticed something was odd about the lip of the blue cups on goblet toss. They are definitely a fraction taller.

Hey Matt, the way to win bank a ball is to get down on your knees put your elbow on the line on the ledge and throw the ball at an upward angle at the board. With the ball traveling at the board at about a 70 degree angle. With momentum carrying it up in the air and then in the box. We were passholders at Cedar point for years and we would drive home with 6 major prizes strapped to the top of our cars lol. Let me know if you need more explaining.

I actually have some good luck on those! The reason the games have been rehauled is because a new company, HB Leisure, is in charge of the games, now! I really like how engaging the games ops are, now!

The heaviness of the blocks is definitely what makes the first game so hard. It's Newton's first law, a body at rest will remain at rest unless acted on by an outside force. The beanbag is only big enough to hit 2 of the 3 blocks at once and the remaining block will want to remain stationary. If you knock the two lower ones off, the kinetic friction between the top block and the one below it will be too low to move it very far. So I think the only way I can see it happening with somewhat of a strategy is if the blocks are towards the edge and/or the throw either has a downwards or upwards force to affect the one block not directly hit. Kinda like how when Bowling you want to hit the front pin on an angle instead of straight on so the other pins knock into each other rather than creating a 7-10 split.
Or have the beanbag land under the block so that gravity works against the last block and tilts it over. 😅
Yea I actually replayed how I won this - the middle block actually gets caught on top of the bean bag and just tips off the table. Interesting strategy but it worked - and the bean bag actually hits the table right before the bottom block if you slow motion it.

Went to kennywood today. They changed the game with the painted target that the ball has to land in the blue box. I won a few prizes on that the last couple of years, the angle is now stepper and harder to get the ball in the box.
I can't believe that all this time Matt goes to places I've been going my whole life. Kennywood is less than 20 minutes from me

There are two types of games at the carnival. Games of skill where you can win a big prize, then there's "baloon stores", where you "win every time", starting out with a small prize, gradually working your way up to larger prizes, depending on how much $$ you spend

For my 49th birthday I was staying at a motel across the street from a carnival. My particular game was the one where you shoot a cork from the end of an air rifle to knock Styrofoam cups off a shelf. I NEVER missed. But neither did I take the prizes. I DID win one large prize right about the time a mother had been trying for an hour to win anything for her daughter. Yep, I asked if she'd like to let her daughter pick a prize. (I figure I had way more than paid for it by then,) Not the first time I have done something like that.

On the black bucket game stand to the side and aim for the sides of the bucket so the momentum of the ball makes it rotate in the bucket instead of bounce back towards you
I guess the bounce from board into the bucket 🪣 all the returns is the way to get your money's and practice worth. A little secret the carnival doesn't want u to know lol

The ball toss with the yellow red and blue cups is unfair because several of the blue cups including the yellow cup are taller than the clear cups.

he gave you the last one because he was over it and wanted you to leave and those stuffed bananas cost them like $20 each. look at the distance from the back corner and compare it to how every other platform and every other time on this platform the dice were centered. he puts it like three inches from the back so you might leave when you get the prize.

to win banana: - it's heavy tending to stay in place if hit from below so it drops
three of them so two hit away leaving third to drop. - needs to hit bottom two so top one goes up and out away so arcs away from table .... note: bigger table = harder to win
