Great video. However, being 2 years old the screenshots and some step details are now out of date and are different so you have to muddle through it to figure it out, especially when trying to set this up so the lights don't come on during the daytime.
Great video this worked out perfect for me but how can I keep this feature and have my smart lights on a 3 hour routine everyday also I tried the same as I seen in this video and the light doesn't come on as I schedule them to... Need help!!
Owen, I've made this work, but would like to have it flash or blink certain smart lights several times quickly inside the house for a hard of hearing senior that doesn't always hear the sounds and announcements I added in.
Hi, I wanted to know if it was possible for you to connect a shelly that supplies power to a siren only when the ring alarm is armed and there is an actual intrusion of someone into the house
Any idea why the routines don't get triggered by the Ring? I've tried several times, the routines work when I trigger them manually, I get the motion notifications from the Ring on my phone, so everything else is working correctly, Help! I'm using the Ring Doorbell Pro by the way.
I came here to find if anyone else had this issue, so not just me then! I have a Pro 2 and Echo show 5. Lounge light should switch on between midnight and 8am if ring detects motion but it never does despite the routine working if I play it manually.
@@lifeautomated2209 Mine works perfectly after following your step by step instructions, except for the issue of them coming on during the day. Can the condition be set up for between dawn and dusk? Daylight varies greatly by season here.
There is a loud dog barking skill. Can I automate my ring doorbell to have that start with motion like you did with the lights? Just subscribed! Thanks...
You mention that "if no motion is detected" turn off after 2 minutes but that is not in the routine. The routine you described is set to turn off after 2 minutes regardless of motion. This is the problem I hoped this video would solve. Currently I have the same setup you describe and the lights will cut-out if I'm still working on the porch. I could always extend the time but that would be inefficient for most situations. Any ideas for turning the lights back off due to lack of motion? I tried creating a separate routine triggered for when motion stops but it did not work. In the Ring app there is no event for motion stop for the ring doorbell pro.
Thanks for this video! Do you get notifications on your Apple watch when someone rings your doorbell? I bought a Homepod mini a few months ago, but after watching your videos am wondering if I should get an Amazon Echo. Wasn't sure if the Echo works well with an Iphone. Thank you!
Echo works great with iPhone and I haven’t been impressed at all with apples home automation products. I’m a Mac/iPhone guy but we def use Alexa products
great video. Is there a way to stop the routine from running on lights that are already on? I tested it. I have Leviton switches that run porch lights. If I want to leave them on but someone approaches the Ring Doorbell it shuts off after the wait times is met.
Yea that’s a good question… you can always say Stop the routine. But you can also do a timed routine where it only turns the lights off before a certain time.
I have Peteme bulbs, which use the Smart Life App. I have set up the routine. I have left the power on, but the lights do not turn off. If I turn them off with the Alexa app, the routine doesn't work. What have I done wrong?
You can set the routine to activate for the duration of set times. I set mine for 9 pm to 8 am. I wish Alexa gave me the option to enable and disable the routine by sunrise and sunset instead. That would be much better.
@@Phoenix6652 you have to set two additional routines to accomplish this. The first one enables the routine he set up at dusk and the next one disables the routine he set up at dawn.

Do you need an Alexa unit to do this?
Great job Owen! You really outdid yourself on this video. Way to set the bar
Great help 👍🏽
thank you, answered my questions about 3rd party bulbs and no bridge needed since i use echo show.

This is amazing! I had no idea! Thank you

This is all great, but how to only make it happen between dusk and dawn?
On your routine where it says “When” you can set the the times you want it to go off and also what days , hope this help
Great video! Saw this on Reddit, loved the explanation of what happens and the detailed tutorial on how to set it up! Looking forward to other videos
Right on! Great to have you here. More videos coming out this week

Instant subscribe well done
Thank you!!

mine also doesnt work anymore.. used to work... ring pro here as well

Needs something to prevent turning on during daylight hours. Can that be done?
Yes. Here’s how you do it. Set it up with a condition to work between X time and Y time. That’s it, done!
@@lifeautomated2209 Thanks

Do ring bulb work with ring doorbell without ring bridge?

Yes

How about only during at night or sunset only
In your routine where it says “When” you can set up the time and days you want to have it turn on the lights
Can u use this for bedroom ?
Yes but the audio is really bad

Have you connected the device thru Alexa? Once you set it up on smart life you still have to go into Alexa app and tap “devices” and add new
How about if you want the lights to only come on at night

This won’t work for me for some reason. Not a single light comes on when a person is detected.
You probably have multiple routines set up that are interfering with each other
Nice video! The background music is really irritating, though.
Good to know! Thanks
